i got 2021 edition with ryzen 9 and 3060 just 2 weeks ago and man i love this thing. i love using this thing for my daily usage and some genshin impact. so far the experience has been phenomenal. Not having a webcam sucks but i can always connect my phone to use as a webcam.
I bought one of these in May to use for games and video editing. Haven't gone into too much editing, but it plays games amazingly well. 100+fps on high setting with most games. Mine is the 1080p 144hz version. Couldn't be happier with it.
I've been looking into getting this because of budget limitations and availability from where am from, great review but i have to say GODDAMN i almost didnt recognize you Joshua werent it from your voice! Got the G14 2 weeks ago. And this thing is an absolute joy to use. Fast, snappy and extremely portable. The only downside for me is the lack of Webcam but I have an external one, also use my phone through droid cam as a webcam.
I highly prefer laptops without webcams for privacy reasons. It's super easy and cheap to get a USB webcam if you really need them for online meetings.
I was considering getting the G14 last year. But I got the Asus TUF Gaming A15, Ryzen 5 4600H, 16GB of DDR4 3200hz ram, 1TB m2 mvme ssd with a GTX1650. While the 144hz display on my laptop is quite crappy in terms of color reproduction. The performance is really good for the price. Which makes is the reason I don't see myself upgrading to a newer laptop anytime soon
I really want this, but it's kinda inconvenient not having a webcam nowadays :/ I hope the next iteration they'll consider putting one, and maybe a 16:10 display too like what they did with the M16, I guess that would be awesome
Have a look at the Zephyrus M16 model. It has an intel chip but it has a webcam, it has a 16:10 display, although it is a bit bigger and more comparable to the G15
I got the G14 from 2021 and still to this day it rocks really! Had to of course purchase a hub for it, i.e. for DP + a few extra USB and Ethernet (RJ45) port but it was worth it. Games like BF2042 run smoothly still (I got the rtx3060 variant one with 5900)

This was a bit of a odd review - uncharacteristically many misses. The 2560x1440 screen is 120 Hz in 2021 unlike the 2020 version which was 60 Hz (and the 1080p one went from 120 to 144 Hz). There is no mention of the dark grey colour option which is unfortunate - especially as it elliminates the readability issue of the silver keys. The USB-C charging isn't "just 100W" - it is improved from the 60 (65?) Watt of the 2020 version. At 6:35 the new 5900HS is mentioned as "Ryzen 9" and as being an upgrade from 2020's Ryzen 7 when both years models in fact came in a Ryzen 7 and Ryzen version (4800HS/5800HS and 4900HS/5900HS respectively). AMD's naming conventions are confusing though. If there was any mention of the other graphics options I missed it - though that could be that those hadn't been revealed at the time of this review.
Hi there! I was wondering what screen resolution and windows scaling you use for this model (1440p 60hz screen for AniMe matrix models) that work best for you? Thank you!

Would you recommend this laptop with top spec for software engineering and photo editing?
Joshua Vergara great content man. Thank you for your reviews. Just one small thing. The 1440p screen on the 2021 model is actually 120hz not 60hz like last years model. :)
guys i would need some advice, i would like to buy a laptop spending about 1300 €, what do you recommend? is the g14 a good choice? with which components?
You made the right choice imo. I was also considering the X13 but for an extra $300 I opted for this years G14 due to the improved GPU, 1440p display, and better battery life.
^ I could live with the 3050ti (and the non-upgradeable RAM to a lesser extent) on the X13 honestly - it was the severe lack of ports that ruined it for me. Besides which, the G14 isn't THAT much bigger or less portable despite having a measurably better video card AND having at least some room for further upgrades.
So no overheating? I am searching for a new laptop as I had bad experience with my Spectre x360 (2019 Gem cut) which after BIOS Updates (which cannot be downgraded) has overheating issues. Just bought my first laptop and I bought the g14, the one I payed for said fhd144hz but the one I received says wqhd 120hz. So I'm just curious what's the difference? and should I be returning this. I play first person shooter games this is why I chose 144hz
Fhd144 is full HD, so 1080p. Wqhd120 is wide quad hd, so 1440p. It has a higher screen resolution but lower refresh rate. It really depends on wether you prefer the higher screen resolution or the higher refresh rate.
@@psychokonieses2768 the only issue I've had is that the speakers are garbled above 30% unless you disable Dolby Atmos and pull down the bass sliders. The 3060 version would manage the same settings at 1440p.
