There is more flexibility offering a full size SD card slot or a USB-C port instead of a microSD card slot. He even mentions as such in the review at 6:04.
Come on, an extra USB-C port is far better as you can just plug in a dock or adapter for SD support and choose micro or full! That is the whole point, and on Intel machines a TB4 IO gives you so much more potential. If it had a full size one then I would think okay but still prefer a USB-C/TB4 but more useful than a micro.
I think Asus should consider selling a variant without the discrete graphics for 1000$. The integrated gpu is plenty powerful for lightweight casual gaming and should make the laptop pretty appealing for non gamers and a general audience
The feature of bending the screen up to 180 degrees is very good when you are going to use it on a large monitor and enjoy the laptop's own keyboard, this makes the laptop screen not getting in the way of the external monitor.
The noise levels shown at 10:56 are confusing. Turbo and Silent mode on the 2022 G14 look louder than the 2021 model, contrary to what you said. Was this an error?
That is weird. The raw noise doesn’t tell the whole story, as different frequencies sound different to humans. Maybe the newer model has a better noise equalization, even if the peak is higher. Or… maybe it was just a mistake, though you can see that the touchpad is definitely larger on the “2022” views.
@@xruud24 you’re right. When he said “these laptops”, I thought he meant g14 models. It’s clear after listening again that he meant in comparison to gaming laptops in general.
@@fernpot Trackpad is good and large, mine isn't loose at all. If you are on batter, or usb-c power I have noticed a small whine, but when plugged in to the provided power supply and using GPU it isn't there. No temps measurement for me yet sorry.
Cool feature about display rotating 180 degrees is that you can put it against the wall (vertically) so that the screen can be within the line of your sight. I've noticed that with my Omen 15, no laptop stand needed, it uses a fraction of space on my desktop and the heat is escaping easier.
Also I like it for the durability. Sometimes I'd stretch my laptop's hinge too much while forgetting it can only open up to a certain angle and can't do the 180.
For people wondering to upgrade from older G14 models: If you have the 2020 model I think it's a solid upgrade as that first model was pretty bad. I bought it at best buy and returned it as it was pretty lacking. I now have the 2021 model and I think it's an outstanding machine. They fixed all the issues from the 2020 model and it's price to performance now especially with this new model out is a really good buy. I've seen on best buy open box 2021 models go for $950 which is crazy seeing how well this laptop performs. The only downside of this compared to the 2022 model overall is aesthetics in my opinion. I'm not saying the 2022 model doesn't outperform the previous generations but I don't think most people will be pushing this machine to it's limit everyday so that's a big factor to consider. If your main concern is gaming and running applications that requires that then by all means get the 2022 model. I think for most people, the 2021 is a really good buy still. And if you have the money to upgrade I would do it. Hope this helps!
For gaming, I see a lot of comparison between the 2022 and 2021 version but without putting DLSS and RT into the equation. I am wondering if I should buy the 2021 version instead of the 2022 just to have a NVIDIA graphic card that will allow me to use DLSS and then a bit of RT? My idea would be to have the possibility to play some games on my TV and then use DLSS (when available) to help with the image quality.
Yeah I'm struggling whether to get this one the 2021. I honestly don't game but just want a GPU in case I pick it up again. I also travel a lot now so looking for great battery and portability. My legion 5 is heavy pile of shit.
i hope a "nuc like" SFF pc with a 6980HX and 6850M XT is made, mobile parts can be extremely useful in super compact PCs (less than 6 liters in volume).
Can't believe they made the last years model even faster and lighter wow! This is the laptop for me. btw you don't mention if you're using the CPU or the GPU in the Blender benchmark, which is kinda crucial. Also does the Radeon GPU and iGPU work with Blender 3's new HIP rendering?
I got the G14 from 2021 when it came out and still to this day it rocks really! Had to of course purchase a hub for it, i.e. for DP + a few extra USB and Ethernet (RJ45) port but it was worth it. Games like BF2042 run smoothly still (I got the rtx3060 variant one with 5900)
Loved this laptop but ultimately had to to return it as the sides get ULTRA hot right where your hands rest during gaming. You can see it in the thermal imaging at 15:03.
I got the 6700s model from Best Buy last week and I have to say that it is pretty incredible. Its shredding elden ring at 1920x1200 at medium settings. Also just a joy to use for surfing and typing. The keyboard, trackpad, and screen are all a 10/10. Agree that the plug placement is trash but that's the only thing that holds it to a 4/5 vs a 5/5 for me.
Dude, you actually scared me. I play Elden Ring on 3440x1400 on HIGH settings without a problem and it's on RTX1070... No way AMD 6700S is worse then 4 years old GPU
I would have liked to have seen some gaming benchmarks with the 2021 G14 taking advantage of DLSS. The 2022 has a stronger GPU so I feel like letting the 2021 model flex it’s biggest Nvidia advantage would have been a fair test to add to the slide deck
@@xruud24 how is that relevant to what they said? They simply were saying that in the comparison between the two G14s the 3060 should have been used with DLSS since most people who buy one would use that technology.
That is exactly what I am looking for. When used, DLSS is a great improvement and for gaming I am really wondering if the 2021 could be better in some cases thanks to NVIDIA.
@@xruud24 Like it or not, Nvidia is currently making some of the best GPUs on the market. AMD is catching up, which is generating competition and that's great for the industry. Hopefully Intel will come into the picture soon with good products and drive even more innovation in the space. I do agree that the ti models usually aren't worth the price bumps in the price/performance department but they're gonna keep at it until AMD and/or Intel can throw their weight around more effectively. I'll be curious to see what happens to Nvidia's product stack once the others catch up Edit:fixed a typo
Another great review. Unlike many other reviewers, I find your channel deliver your messages in a much more normal and clear pace. Others are informative, but maybe too much content that their pace is too fast for viewers to digest. Great job here.
I actually bought one of these, partly on the recommendation here in this video. Unfortunately, it runs as hot as a kiln (an oven hot enough to fire porcelain) when playing games, and that's with the fans running so loud that I actually realized I couldn't subject my wife to that kind of jet-engine noise, even if I wore a pair of headphones. It would have been nice if you would have warned people that the upper keyboard deck gets hot enough to burn your fingers, and not just in the area above the function keys, but even on the left and right sides of the keyboard, where you will touch the keyboard deck from time to time, even while you're gaming. I really, REALLY wanted this laptop to be able to game as well as serve as an ultra-portable, but unfortunately, Asus has simply shoe-horned a CPU and GPU that even a thick 17.3" laptop chassis would have trouble keeping cool into a tiny and thin 14" laptop chassis in which there's no hope of keeping the temperatures below 85 degrees, even with the fans running so loud it's preposterous. I have finally learned my lesson. If you want a gaming laptop, you MUST buy at least a 15.6" chassis with a beefy cooler. If you want something smaller, you CANNOT put a 3070 into it, and even a 3060 (or Radeon equivalent) will simply have to be reduced in power consumption below 85 watts. Period. End of discussion. It's not Asus' fault. There simpy is no way for 100 watts of GPU power plus 35 or 45 watts of CPU power to be reasonably disappated in that small and thin of a size of chassis without jet-engine loud fans. It simply isn't within the realm of the possible. I think we simply have to compromise and get a 3050ti-based 14" laptop, and see if that can run without either burning me or deafening me while gaming.
Dead on! I’m shocked on how wonderful they make this laptop sound. Sure, it can put on some solid benchmarks… but this isn’t sustainable over even 1-2 years of heavy gaming use… I bought one too and return it for same reasons… the technology isn’t there yet, but we’re closing the gap.
The new 2022 version is amazing, although, personally I’m going to wait for a deal or a lower price. The aesthetics are on point and the performance just gets better and better from ASUS and AMD.
personally, i just said fuck it, and I think i am just gonna buy the 2021 version. Dont really see a big difference, and i dont find the 2021 asthetics displeasing
Already got an m16 (2021) on order but I’m still watching these ASUS reviews because this company does not miss! Already comparing for my next laptop. 😂
just got mine used for 1250 from best buy. had to watch this video a few times over vs other offerings they had. have to say you sold me on it good job
I saw a open box one at me local Best Buy for $1050. Thinking about picking it up. What's your feedback on the laptop? I hear it runs super hot when you game, is that true?
@@psx1986 if that is the price they have for it jump on it. at first i was a bit frustrated because my version does not have the animation on the back. if your model only says moonlight white with nothing else, yours wont either. speakers are great and the screen is fantastic however, not out of the box. the software is a bit of a learning curve to learn. once you understand it the software is actually really nice to have. the screen as mentioned is amazing but you will want to calibrate the thing. asus has a terrible profile that it forces on you out of the box. the calibration tool they require is really expensive for purchase but you can rent one for much cheaper. i already had my spider x pro so for me, i need to go into the color management screen every start up so i can swap back to my color profile. other than that, the machine is amazing and worth it even at the 1200 dollar mark. the laptop does get really hot in stock configuration and there is no undervolt options besides the sliders in the custom overclock section. its sad that there are no frequency controls and the bios is very limited in that it really only is software controlled. you can set power targets and really control the temps though. on the integrated graphics i can play cyberpunk at 30 fps at reasonable visual settings 1080p just to give you an idea. i do have the 6800s model though. i hear the 6700s model performs about the same with a bit lower thermals. dont know how true it is but take into consideration the integrated 680m radeon graphics do perform reasonably well in gaming
@@orozcocris93 I really appreciate your honest feedback. I decided to pick it up tomorrow. Worst case scenario, I can always return it if I don't like it. Thanks!
Interesting that you mention that the DAC on the 2022 edition is really good. I have the good ol 2020 version and the DAC is awful so I am glad that they addressed this. Good job ASUS.
Me too I am waiting exactly same comparison! But i would rather be interested in M16 rather than G15 becuase those are nearly exactly same only M16 has 16:10(165hz) screen and G15 has 16:9(240hz) and my eyes has a limit of 165hz;))
the only thing preventing me from buying this is i really want the model with the matrix lights but I can’t find one being sold. Anyone know when those models will start being sold?
@@veruzzzz Correct, but i believe you lose performance in gaming by not matching the soldered RAM. Hope 2022 model, wont lose performance if I decide to upgrade. @@galaxticlunatic idk about loosing performance, I use it for work and I can always sacrifice a little bit of performance since no RAM means no work for me at all. I'm using a Sandisk Pro 1tb micro sd card. Makes sense to me. My DJI mini 2 and GoPro also use Micro SD. Still makes sense. I store music on the card as well as movies.
Thanks for that, but could you please also add Ray tracing comparisons? It will help us to choose between AMD and Nvidia laptops especially this year while they are very close performers.
3:45 You can show a board (PCB, like in: circuit design) place SMDs on it to visualize height, when rendering is not convenient. Also any other such projection with small-scale models (small buildings).
Great review and comparison. Would you be able to compare the Asus Zephyrus G14, Razer Blade 14 and Alienware X14 (Similar configs of course) and show us the same CPU and Graphics wattage/temp results? It is getting much more difficult to know what to purchase especially when there are hidden factors to consider, that are essentially not listed on the websites. As you said, it isn't just about the hardware name and numbers listed. Another would be for the 15 Inch variants of the same brands. Maybe others would be interested in the 17 inch versions as well. I am trying to go smaller. Keep up the good work.
I'm going to wait for the 2022 G15 and see how that compares. 14" for gaming is just too small except in a pinch. 15" could be a real do it all laptop.
I think dim screen on Zephyrus G15 and low battery life on Intel models (M16, Strix, Scar) are awful deal breakers. The G14 seems to be the only good option as a "do it all", or spend a lot more for Zephyrus Duo 16. Looks like Asus is trying to differentiate their product lineup by compromising each laptop's essential qualities.
@Gerardo Gonzalez lmao I didnt know you can flash the vbios on the g14. Lo and behold I did it. Probably got free 10-15% performance. Thanks man! I use my g14 on an external monitor. This really helps!
My biggest disappointment is they announced an FHD screen, best buy only has QHD and only has white. Zero desire to buy a white laptop. I'd buy the FHD version in grey for maybe $100 less. As it is, probably going to spend more and wait on the legion 7 refresh.
Thanks for great and professional video. I really like it! I have g14 2021 and I’m not gonna upgrade. Yeh the 2022 is amazing, and to be honest i find the screen of 2021 not good enough at all, but in performance area 2021 model is more then enough even for heavy loads and gaming from time to time. I’ll wait for 2023 model to make a bigger leap from 2021 one.
I really wish AMD would license ARM and that Microsoft would develop a hybrid x86/ARM OS with the ability to run on either the ARM cores or the x86 ones depending on workload...I just can't get over the efficiency of Mac's M1, it's the only reason I'm hesitant to move back to an AMD based laptop.
I like the larger screen rotation angle. I use a laptop riser with a mouse and keyboard if I'm traveling for a few days or more. The restricted angle reduces how high I can move the screen which effects the ergonomics. Thank you for the review!
Solid works is mostly 1 core cpu dependent, and matlab is able to utilize even gpu stream processors for parallel processing. In terms of series processing, it’ll handle matlab on either cpu or gpu. OpenML on amd is nearly equivalent to cuda these days. In many cases, within 5 percent, though there are a few processes where cuda is still significantly faster. This is less true if you use AMD rocm on Linux instead of python/tensorflow on windows via directML.
@@Bunta1987qwerty Thanks. It would be windows, no linux. So no big loss for an engineering student (no videogaming) going with this all AMD solution versus Intel and nVidia? Any suggestions on processor and gpu model/speed with either AMD or intel/nvidia laptops for this student? Also, someone on another video comment said not to use AMD gpus if you plan to do machine learning. True?
@@AnthonyTripoli even an older ryzen 4000 with Vega graphics would be enough stuff you’ll do as a student. Cad doesn’t use much gpu power, and simulations of class projects are very light. Likely just a few seconds of time on any modern laptop. You can honestly run solid works on integrated intel graphics. Matlab coding projects are also easy work for modern hardware. The only exception is machine learning. Rdna2 tensorflow via openML is great. Almost as good as cuda. On matlab, you’ll have the same experience. Besides, your classes will have (probably ancient) workstations that you’ll use for labs. Homework will likely be a mixture of written, as well as online. The online hw via something like zybooks runs on a server, so your hardware won’t matter. I hope this helps. Before rdna2, amd machine learning was only maybe 15% as efficient as cuda, but it’s really close these days. My personal RX 6800 Reference “AI benchmark” results on tensorflow: Device Inference Score: 16711 Device Training Score: 19414 Device AI Score: 36125 These scores are better than the titan rtx and 2080ti scores, but those scores were posted years ago. Someone else did a video comparing the rx 6800, titan rtx and rtx 3090 using openML and cuda. The rx6800 fared well, though it was slower. It would’ve been nice to see the 6900xt in that video, but gpu’s are depressing atm.
@@Bunta1987qwerty Thanks so much for the thorough reply! So it sounds like this laptop is a bit overkill. Then again I’ve just been looking for something that’s light for carrying around and somewhat future proof and this seems like the best option so far.
@@AnthonyTripoli you’re very welcome. I’m honestly considering it for myself. I have a 5950x and rx 6800 that I use for machine learning and engineering stuff. I use a cheap laptop to access my desktop when I need it. This laptop would be a good mobile solution.
Forgive me as I know so little about gaming but thought this would be good to start for me. I am also interested in the 4k aspect of video gaming as well as youtube 4k when availiable. This units price range seemed very reasonable for having 4k possibilities.
The 6k Amd CPU's use DDR5 Ram Vs 5K DDR4. That alone is reason for a price difference. The advantage of the 6k version is a longer battery life span (more efficient), though as a gamer you might almost always be plugged in. I suppose that the gaming performance between the 5900 and the 6900 with a 6800gpu is similar, which means that gamers might be interested in the cheaper 2021 modell
Buy only if your primary focus is gaming. Creator and professional workloads don't offer enough of an improvement despite the 16 : 10 aspect ratio. Even if you game part-time on your laptop, 2021 is a a much better buy and performs very well if you're not maxing out all the setting at 1440p, try low at 1440p or switch to 1080 and go high.
Thanks for review~ 1, Really hope ASUS would offer a mode of 1080p with lower price in the future (they did this before, released more expensive mode with higher feature first, lower price mode came later). 2, Why I saw the decibels of 2021 is little bit lower than 2022? Especially on slient and turbo mode. 3, Some comments on Bestbuy mentioned overheating problem (crash when gaming or running benchmark). Is that common?
I doubt it's common, but looking at the turbo temps I doubt it's surprising. If you put it in what looks like an unstable state and then run a heavy load, something's gotta give.
I have been using the G14 2022 now for a couple of weeks under heavy to moderate stress and have yet to have it overheat. I can confirm that it does get really hot, even compared to last years version, I'm getting anywhere from 80-90 degrees om the CPU and 70-80 degrees on the GPU but I can see it getting hotter under higher stress levels.
I would still like to know where we can get the 32GB RAM version with the AniMe matrix display. Is it just a halo "option" that is only given to TH-camrs?
I love the honesty stating that the top model is quite frankly not worth it. So many other would sensationalize the top model and try to push it on viewers.
Please mention the contrast in your reviews. It is too vague to know it has very good contrast. Is it 1200:1 or 1500:1? This is one of the most important metrics!
The full 180 degree is good if you are outdoors, I just found myself having the laptop to an extreme angle really so I think it is nice if you are using it on your lap or something and maybe protect it if it gets hit by mistake or while you are just waving your hands in the crazy like a crazy professor or something
You haven’t mentioned in the battery test if you were using the screen on 60 or 120 Hz? Great review though! Just wanted to know that specific information battery life
there isnt much difference, if at all, in battery life from going to 60 from 120 on g14. I've 2020 model and its on 120hz all day and tested battery drain in different refresh rate using hwinfo.
I really like the 180 hinge. It gives me unlimited viewing angles. And the MicroSD is also not that bad. I mean, unlike Regular SD, it doesn't stick out in the open.
it deserves a cpu undervolt. With such diminishing returns I rather have better temps or more headroom for the gpu... although, if I had to guess, I bet the similar performance is due to smartshift doing its thing. Certainly a shame we don't get a 6800hs/6600m variant with that amount of cooling on a slightly more budget friendly level. It may be excessive cooling for those specs but it would break the stigma that gaming laptops must run hot.
I live in Canada and i got the 2021 model with the 3050ti + 1440p screen for about 1050$ USD (1400$ CAD) At that price, the new 2022 model is really hard to justify for me. any of you guys have thoughts ?
It's not worth. I had got the 2021 variant with 3060. It had a defect 6 months in so I was able to get an exchange for the 2022 version. The ONLY things I notice is the screen is way more responsive, the keyboard is multi colored and more tactile to touch, and finally the acoustics from the speakers sounds much cleaner.
at 11:08 what are you on about? Turbo isnt anywhere as loud on the new machines? what on earth are you talking about? You literally show the turbo mode to be even louder while saying its not as loud?
My laptop broke, and I need a new one for my school program that uses Tekla. I'm convinced to get it, but they seem to be available in the US, but not in Canada. Do you have any idea when they will be coming up north? I don't want to get a 2021 only to find out the 2022 comes out something like a week later.
Thank you for this good review. I am planning to get 2021 model but only 5800HS 165O GPU. will it still be enough for light gaming and productivity? Thank you and continue to have great laptop reviews
Dont pay for 1650m at all, it is very very week ,not bottlenecked by anything in your computer and already outdated. Check if you can get a ryzen4900hs+2060 or at least 1660ti(which is actually 2060perf. but without raytracing&dlss) Laptops with ryzen5000+radeon 6600m are also good budget options as they perform close to 3060m. If ur determined to get a 1650m configuration you'd be better off getting a used flow x13 5900hs+1650m (last year's not the overpriced surfacedbook). It's much slimmer and literally same in performance. Screen size is also simular as flow has 16:10 ratio. (p.s. the flow's later updated model with 3050ti is 20-30% better than 1650) G14's chasis is chunky for14'' but not worth for a 1650 which is used even in ultrabooks. Tip) Get a sensible congiration where neither cpu/gpu is far from being bottlenecked, as that means one sidr's potential being wasted. Depending on price Zephyrus G15 is actually quite the same in weight and by once owning both I can say its both very portable.
don't buy 1650 model now, I would suggest to save more or wait for sale for the 6700s 2022 model, this year has got significant design upgrades which would help your purchase go long way. I own 2020 1650 model and it hasnt given me any issues in terms of performance but If I had to buy now, I would save up and wait for the 2022 6700s model. The iGPU of 2022 model is just a bit less powerful then 1650ti and the 6700s GPU is more powerful then 3060 mobile.
here's a hint. Ryzen's 680m internal GPU is as fast as discrete 1650. So just buy the cheapest G14 2022 model. You'll have a laptop that can game for 6-8 hours with iGPU only, and pull out big guns for other games. Hell, people can play Cyberpunk with ryzen's igpu these days.
Bestbuy is supposed to deliver this to me today … I didn’t even know about the back.. and that you can customize the image or text it flashes… Now I’m screaming in excitement. This is my most expensive tech I have purchased so I’m really excited. Also I love the micro sd reader. I needed one! I have so many micro sds just laying around.
I am actually very glad that micro sd reader is included, I use it for 3D printer, raspberry pi and I think It is standart for action cameras.
Right? Plus every mSD I've ever bought comes with standard SD adapter so you can easily use them in standard SD devices.
@NinjaSkyborg and this is second review, which mentions microSD slot as "negative" thing (second one was some laptop review from JustJosh)

I know this is a year old but would you get the 2021 for $800 before tax or the 2022 for $1,200 before tax?
@@Basstyle1 If money is not an issue I would get the 2022 model. I think I saw it on Best Buy the other day for $1000 but its usually on sale a lot
i hope a "nuc like" SFF pc with a 6980HX and 6850M XT is made, mobile parts can be extremely useful in super compact PCs (less than 6 liters in volume).
Yeah
Can't believe they made the last years model even faster and lighter wow! This is the laptop for me.
btw you don't mention if you're using the CPU or the GPU in the Blender benchmark, which is kinda crucial. Also does the Radeon GPU and iGPU work with Blender 3's new HIP rendering?
that trackpad alone has me questioning my 2021 model, but i can’t quit on it this early
I got the G14 from 2021 when it came out and still to this day it rocks really! Had to of course purchase a hub for it, i.e. for DP + a few extra USB and Ethernet (RJ45) port but it was worth it. Games like BF2042 run smoothly still (I got the rtx3060 variant one with 5900)
is it still worth to buy for now? in my country the cheapest option is about 1100 USD. (Ryzen 7 5800H, 512 GB, RTX3060)
If it had the ryzen, nvidia combo (3070ti) this would have been day one purchase for me. Amazing laptop
Thank you for the thorough analyses and thoughtful opinions!
Loved this laptop but ultimately had to to return it as the sides get ULTRA hot right where your hands rest during gaming. You can see it in the thermal imaging at 15:03.
Wish the G15 got proper upgrades like this. Good detailed review and comparison 👍
@Trebors Tactics Thank you very much for your reply!
@@AlexSTR yeah I think he could play Max or very close because some setting are resource hogs and not worth it.
I was gonna get this laptop and play elden ring, should I lower the settings? I wanna smooth experience idc how it looks any tips?
@Trebors Tactics did you buy the 2020, 2021 or 2022 model?
I would have liked to have seen some gaming benchmarks with the 2021 G14 taking advantage of DLSS. The 2022 has a stronger GPU so I feel like letting the 2021 model flex it’s biggest Nvidia advantage would have been a fair test to add to the slide deck
The 3070ti and 3080ti are almost no better than 3070 and 3080
@@xruud24 how is that relevant to what they said? They simply were saying that in the comparison between the two G14s the 3060 should have been used with DLSS since most people who buy one would use that technology.
@@ucanthavemyname9802 I don’t care nvidia sucks and dlss is poo
I'll be curious to see what happens to Nvidia's product stack once the others catch up
Edit:fixed a typo

This one is cool, but the big question is about the new Zephyrus M16 vs G15.
Me too I am waiting exactly same comparison! But i would rather be interested in M16 rather than G15 becuase those are nearly exactly same only M16 has 16:10(165hz) screen and G15 has 16:9(240hz) and my eyes has a limit of 165hz;))

Thanks for that, but could you please also add Ray tracing comparisons? It will help us to choose between AMD and Nvidia laptops especially this year while they are very close performers.
The ray tracing comparison is 'don't bother with amd rn' :P If you care about ray tracing, amd's still not much good at it. Especially on laptops.

The best reviews on TH-cam.
I want this laptop but the temperatures don't seem well managed enough. This thing looks like it runs HOT.

My biggest disappointment is they announced an FHD screen, best buy only has QHD and only has white. Zero desire to buy a white laptop. I'd buy the FHD version in grey for maybe $100 less. As it is, probably going to spend more and wait on the legion 7 refresh.
white colour this year looks total badass ngl
I like grey too I think the best option would be 6800s qhd grey and no led on the back

Nice review, are the fans audible on idle and load?
I really wish AMD would license ARM and that Microsoft would develop a hybrid x86/ARM OS with the ability to run on either the ARM cores or the x86 ones depending on workload...I just can't get over the efficiency of Mac's M1, it's the only reason I'm hesitant to move back to an AMD based laptop.
Ok this is the laptop to buy!! I was thinking of going 15 inch but travelling a fair bit now.
I like the larger screen rotation angle. I use a laptop riser with a mouse and keyboard if I'm traveling for a few days or more. The restricted angle reduces how high I can move the screen which effects the ergonomics. Thank you for the review!
How does the lack of cuda cores affect its performance in engineering apps like matlab and solidworks?
My personal RX 6800 Reference “AI benchmark” results on tensorflow:
Device Inference Score: 16711
Device Training Score: 19414
Device AI Score: 36125
These scores are better than the titan rtx and 2080ti scores, but those scores were posted years ago.

My question is 2022 RX 6800 S G14 or 2021 Razer Blade with RTX 3070? Help me out with a video comparison please 🙏
This of course
Tbh ASUS should have stuck with nvidia GPUs
The 6k Amd CPU's use DDR5 Ram Vs 5K DDR4. That alone is reason for a price difference. The advantage of the 6k version is a longer battery life span (more efficient), though as a gamer you might almost always be plugged in. I suppose that the gaming performance between the 5900 and the 6900 with a 6800gpu is similar, which means that gamers might be interested in the cheaper 2021 modell
No webcam looking at me is a benefit. Just bought last year model for a steal of a deal
Buy only if your primary focus is gaming. Creator and professional workloads don't offer enough of an improvement despite the 16 : 10 aspect ratio. Even if you game part-time on your laptop, 2021 is a a much better buy and performs very well if you're not maxing out all the setting at 1440p, try low at 1440p or switch to 1080 and go high.
the new one has a webcam tho...
The 6700S is most likely that lower priced model my friend
I have been using the G14 2022 now for a couple of weeks under heavy to moderate stress and have yet to have it overheat. I can confirm that it does get really hot, even compared to last years version, I'm getting anywhere from 80-90 degrees om the CPU and 70-80 degrees on the GPU but I can see it getting hotter under higher stress levels.
Yeah same. 1080p display is enough for me. 4k display is bit overkill for such size anyway.

I would still like to know where we can get the 32GB RAM version with the AniMe matrix display. Is it just a halo "option" that is only given to TH-camrs?
No otherwise there wouldn’t be a price tag
I love the honesty stating that the top model is quite frankly not worth it. So many other would sensationalize the top model and try to push it on viewers.
You talked about everything but the heat build-up when putting that gpu to work...
Awesome! Thanks for this video man! A lot of information I didn't know I actually needed.
Please mention the contrast in your reviews. It is too vague to know it has very good contrast. Is it 1200:1 or 1500:1? This is one of the most important metrics!
I hope you can get your hands on the zephyrus g15 and the m16. Please review these and compare them to each other and to the razer laptops PLEASE.
I'd rather have more USB C port than USB a and the top panel without the led screen, but that's me

Why is only the white version available? I think the grey looks sleaker
Any ideas when this will be available in Canada?

And the MicroSD is also not that bad. I mean, unlike Regular SD, it doesn't stick out in the open.
I have this! upgraded from the first G14 2020 ^o^/ am happy with this laptop !
it deserves a cpu undervolt.

(p.s. the flow's later updated model with 3050ti is 20-30% better than 1650)
G14's chasis is chunky for14'' but not worth for a 1650 which is used even in ultrabooks.
