The top end G14 with the 3060 is 400$ cheaper and the only differences here are the gimmicky box, blue lights and differently coloured keycaps. So it's underpowered because the cheaper version is better.
Probably add some more millions in there for the rest of the channels. Thats probably the smartest move they made was not to just make new segments or shows on the same channel but give each of them a fresh stab in the algorithm.

Also worth stressing that the standard configuration also has the option for 32GB of RAM out of the box. That would be a much smaller deal if both kits of RAM were upgradable sodimm's, but half is soldered to the board. So buying a 32GB config for the same price or cheaper give you a better GPU and a better RAM config (which otherwise isn't entirely upgradable).
If the G14 had a decent webcam and 16:10 screen, I'd be very tempted to upgrade my current Lenovo. As it is right now, it's not good enough for productivity. Asus is crazy for not refreshing G14 lineup with webcams during the pandemic where Zoom/Teams/Skype meetings is the norm.

There's a version with 32gb, 16gb soldered on. My understanding is the ram doesn't have great timings, Jarrod's tech did videos on it, but there's plenty of capacity
@@DSS553 I don't think 40GB is enough. Sure, right now it is probably enough. But I keep my machines for a long time. Right now I use a 15W i7-5500u (dualcore) from 2015 and although I have 12GB installed (4GB are soldered on) I am running against the limit pretty frequently. And I am not even doing crazy memory intensive work. Right now with a browser and some clients 8.5GB are used. When I actually start doing stuff I'm at 11GB pretty quickly, at which point it becomes very noticeable that windows runs out of cache. Even this dualcore could run better with more ram. My point is: Modern CPUs cores have twice the IPC of my current CPU. A modern 8-core will last me a long time. I currently have 6GB per core, barely enough. With a core twice as strong, I want to be able to feed it throughout its lifetime. Right now it would be fine. But in 4-7 years I will regret not being able to upgrade to 64GB.
Warning to both of you, most G14s do not have the LEDs. It can be quite infuriating to find one that does. If you're getting it for a good price, do not expect to have the LEDs. The cost to have the matrix tends to be +1000$ from my experience (same exact specs, but with the LEDs).

where are you getting that deal? still not even a close comparison the legion 7 is the size of a small country in comparison to this thing, this is also on a different plane of existence for battery life. @@DracoTorment $2289 is what I paid for it direct from lenovo's website when I bought it last week, the legion 7 really isn't that much bigger than the g14 tbh, from all reviews I've seen the battery life on the g14 is quite bad, and since they reviewed it a gaming laptop saying it's one of the best then comparing it to other gaming laptops is a fair comparison, and as I said before as far as a gaming laptop goes, the specific model they reviewed is downright awful for how much it costs. Yeah, a normal G14 is cheaper, but that's not what they reviewed, they reviewed and overpriced under performing laptop that has someone's name slapped on it

The Zephyrus G14 is one of the better laptops I have owned. It is super small, portable and functions great as an AAC device (but there is a missed opportunity for an added accessibility feature on the Anime Matrix display, displaying text from a Word-processor on the Anime Matrix)
I always had the white one but I'm really starting to feel the gun metal grey color. It lookss nice but the only colors I was able to get on sale for the 21 and 22 models which I just got with ryzen 6000 and Radeon RX 6700s are the white colors from Best Buy. I guess if you really want the grey one you'll have to ask for them to order it for you and come get it when they get it in the store or either find it online on sale for around the same amount as the moonlight white version. I still like it though and would love to see how full performance is but I bought it open box and Best Buy forgot to put the 240 watt ac adapter in so I bought a 100 watt usb c ac adapter but need to hurry up and get the original because I heard constantly using a usb-c ac adapter is going to kill the laptop's extremely quick..

weird, the 3060 g15 is more then 2,000 USD in India, with just Ryzen 7. just because of that I got predator Helios 300 with 3060 and i7 for 1,750 USD and I think its nice for me who wanted it for editing and college. If you are wondering why not just make a desktop because a 3060 in India is like 1,150 USD
The specs on this are laughable. An ancient 4900HS (the 5900HS is out right now!) and a 3050ti for $2000. Absolutely insane. You should get nothing less than a 3060 and a 5000 series processor for that kind of money.
With my experience of a Month of usage , I come to this conclusion that this beast is best in performance but the gets heated up within 30 min of Turbo usage.

Yes, also call my standards low but I've never seen another laptop where I can play a game on max graphics running quietly ON BATTERY POWER for four hours at over 100 fps. After I optimized the battery life, of course

Love my Strix G17 4800HS/3050 as well. Its not even that big and heavy for a 17 inch and even the battery is good. Asus is absolutely killing it with the Strix and Zephyrus lineups

Guess you're not allowed to show FPS in game demos even if just a reskin of an old device when sponsored... Just kinda weird hearing you say "1440p panel that is a 120HZ and it looks freaking fantastic" while playing at probably less than 60FPS. Not like we'd get any more than that the youtube video but you could at least make the script try and match what we know is going on, mind you.

Not a lot of laptops come with Linux pre-installed, because there are hundreds of types. You always choose the one that's best for you and install it yourself.

Ya I'm with him its super dope. That outside led is cool as hell but I'd rather spend less or equal and get more performance. Then again i put a 5700xt r5 2600 build in a 10 year old case cause I'm about performance although I did recently get a new case for 80 bucks and balled out on 8 sickle flow 120 rgb fans but still for the price of this laptop I'd rather spend the money on performance although if you use your laptop in public alot its a nice flex, I mean its a sick af laptop just wish the gpu was on the same level

One of the best gaming laptops on the market? Umm, try again? $2000 for a Ryzen 4900HS and an RTX 3050ti, I paid all of $289 more for a Legion 7 with a Ryzen 5900HX and an RTX 3080, that G14 is a budget performance laptop nearing premium high end laptop pricing.

where are you getting that deal? still not even a close comparison the legion 7 is the size of a small country in comparison to this thing, this is also on a different plane of existence for battery life. PS from what I can tell you are quoting a $2700 laptop at $2300 whereas I can find the g14 for $1600 on best buy with a 3060 and 5900HS... (also that is still an AMAZING laptop just be careful what you compare.)

@@DracoTorment $2289 is what I paid for it direct from lenovo's website when I bought it last week, the legion 7 really isn't that much bigger than the g14 tbh, from all reviews I've seen the battery life on the g14 is quite bad, and since they reviewed it a gaming laptop saying it's one of the best then comparing it to other gaming laptops is a fair comparison, and as I said before as far as a gaming laptop goes, the specific model they reviewed is downright awful for how much it costs.
Yeah, a normal G14 is cheaper, but that's not what they reviewed, they reviewed and overpriced under performing laptop that has someone's name slapped on it

The Zephyrus G14 is one of the better laptops I have owned.
It is super small, portable and functions great as an AAC device (but there is a missed opportunity for an added accessibility feature on the Anime Matrix display, displaying text from a Word-processor on the Anime Matrix)

I always had the white one but I'm really starting to feel the gun metal grey color. It lookss nice but the only colors I was able to get on sale for the 21 and 22 models which I just got with ryzen 6000 and Radeon RX 6700s are the white colors from Best Buy. I guess if you really want the grey one you'll have to ask for them to order it for you and come get it when they get it in the store or either find it online on sale for around the same amount as the moonlight white version. I still like it though and would love to see how full performance is but I bought it open box and Best Buy forgot to put the 240 watt ac adapter in so I bought a 100 watt usb c ac adapter but need to hurry up and get the original because I heard constantly using a usb-c ac adapter is going to kill the laptop's extremely quick..

weird, the 3060 g15 is more then 2,000 USD in India, with just Ryzen 7. just because of that I got predator Helios 300 with 3060 and i7 for 1,750 USD and I think its nice for me who wanted it for editing and college.
If you are wondering why not just make a desktop because a 3060 in India is like 1,150 USD
The specs on this are laughable. An ancient 4900HS (the 5900HS is out right now!) and a 3050ti for $2000. Absolutely insane. You should get nothing less than a 3060 and a 5000 series processor for that kind of money.

With my experience of a Month of usage , I come to this conclusion that this beast is best in performance but the gets heated up within 30 min of Turbo usage.

Do you actualy need to play games or do high performance workload everywhere you go, always? Do you actualy have self discipline of a 5 year old and gonna go play a game doing your 15 min break, on the bus, train? Do you really like that only upgradable parts are SSD's and RAM? Do you actualy like overpaying for same hardware that is (was, before covid) cheaper separately?
The only real gaming laptop target audience should be people who have no home and keeps moving every two weeks to someplace else.
