    Well done mate. So much hard work, and so worth it. Look at the machine you've created. You've definitely raised the bar. And doing it out of your garage rather than a fully equipped workshop just amplifies the accomplishment. Well done again, legend.

    Try using a size 5 cup when welding ally with about 12-14 CFH. That size 12 gas lens cup you have won’t be helping. and the general rule of thumb is 30amps per MM thickness of material give or take. Nice work mate 👍🏼

    Looks very good Richard. If you want a bit of texture on your console Raptor can be your friend there. Depending on how you spray it you can achieve a smoother to rough texture depending on what you're looking for.

    The FJ 45 was my first true love of 4X4s back in the mid 70s. The Willys (both the pickup and the wagon) would go on to claim the spot permanently a few years later. I currently own a 1963 Willys J3000 Gladiator. It spent its first life as a Nebraska state parks truck. The cab has zero rust, not even a ding in the sheet metal. It now has a Chevy 350 with Edelbrock manifold and 650 four barrel. The tranny is a turbo350 custom built by a transmission company that builds rock crawlers as a part of its business. It has a Mustang tilt steering wheel with all new braking system including disk breaks up front. I'm looking for a plow to make it my winter plow truck. How do I spell Happy Camper? 1963 Willys Gladiator.

    This thing is insane! Headliner and carpet/ rubber floor is a must to really bring it all together, one thing I would change is that snorkel head! Looks so out of place and with your tig skills I think you could make something better to put on it 👌🏼

    Any thoughts of adding in sound deadening in that center console? might be a hollow box that could get loud with drivetrain and exhaust sound..

    • @DesignedandBuilt

      That’s a cracking idea, added to the to do list!

  • @GarethDavidWebb
    @GarethDavidWebb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if its been asked, But curious as to why you didn't run your exhaust out the inner guard like a turbo 80 series or HZJ75? I thought there would be tons of room there and you could route it back in over the chassis behind the cab?

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really wanted to keep it inside the rails to protect it. I just feel like going down the outside is more prone to getting bashed around on rocks etc. Definitely an option if this way ends up being too hot....

  • @nathansingle9698
    @nathansingle9698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loving the build mate! Just curious if you have much of a gap between the centre console fridge and the back wall of the centre console itself? I've had fridges over heat by not having enough of a gap for heat transfer from the condenser. I'd hate for your lemon squashs to get hot 😂😉

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that would be a pain. The centre console is essentially hollow around the fan area of the fridge! I’ll definitely keep it in mind and monitor it!

    Great stuff Richard, you’ve absolutely killed it, mint rig! The only thing I found is that exhaust you build the flex joint you used are not very good for turbos, they collapse and can restrict flow, most people I’ve seen building exhausts on TH-cam have always used the bellows type. Check out Daniel Kistlers TH-cam he literally replaced it on his last video getting ready for wild dog winch challenge

    Hi Richard I’ve been a big fan since you started the build but the consol is a big let down to bulky for the interior of the cab plus to many sharp edges to bang into when four wheeling hope you can see what I’m talking about otherwise you have done an amazing job

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Geoff, I understand your point but the car would look unfinished without it. The height was dictated by where the shifter felt comfortable in the driver seat so I struggle to see how I could make it less bulky. Also all exposed edges are either folded or tig'd so they aren't actually sharp! Appreciate the constructive criticism!
