definitely a good idea to put a bash plate under the surge tank. needs something to stop sticks, branches ripping the fuel lines out or punching through the bottom. you run over one with the front wheels and it tilts up wedges against the tank and pierces it without effort.

Excellent work Richard. You’ve given me a lot of inspiration over the last 12 months with my 80 series build. I’ve even learnt to tig weld.
Just wondering what steering wheel you’ve selected?

Thank you! I went with a raceworks wheel in the end, a good balance of quality and price! Stoked with it, it’s in the previous video.

One think I think your over looking is simplicity, It's all good to have redundant systems for fuel but look at all the extra thinks that can go wrong.

To me the only thing that can go wrong is a broken solenoid, either carry a spare or a male male barb adaptor, less than you would need to carry if you plumbed it the other way.

Your diagram did not include a fuel level sender. Do you have two fuel gauges? Did you consider a Pollak 6-port fuel selector valve (42-159)? The 6-port valve switches between tanks for feed, return, and fuel level sender all in one unit. I have 3 tanks as well as a surge tank and use two 6-port valves and a rotary switch to choose between fuel tanks.

I looked at a fair few solenoids but didn’t come across that one. Looks pretty good though! Landcruiser is cheap and readily available. Sounds like you have a serious setup!!

How did engineering go Richard? I managed to move including the Shogun OM606 99% done, down to Melbourne so now hunting for compliant engineering services myself. Saves taking it back to NSW. Cheers Damon

Hi Damon, it went well and its all registered now. The Engineer I used only works with workshops, and since some of mine has been done with LCS4x4 I managed to get in! Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck!

@@DesignedandBuilt thanks Richard. Learned even something from your tank build as have removed the carbon filter from the breather on my stainless tank ex lpg that I have installed so might need to pop one in easy enough.

What aircon setup are you using in the cab

Why didn't you mount surge tank vertical even less chance of running out and why put fillers on exposed tray beautiful work but you worry about too much 😉

Fillers aren’t my best work, but will be covered with a canopy!
