Welcome back! In our new tutorial series, we're going to teach you how to draw with vectors. It's easier than you think, we promise. Today, we focus on how to draw flowers.
In this tutorial, we are joined by illustrator and designer, Nastya Kuliábina who loves teaching beginner artists how to tap into their creativity. Her portfolio showcases her talent and fondness for creating beautiful flower illustrations, but she’s not keeping her skills for herself. She shares her tips with us in this tutorial that will detail every step she takes to render a flower from 3 different angles.
In this tutorial, you will use the Pen, Pencil, Brush, Node, Pen, and Selection Tool; and you will also learn how to create simple shapes, use multiple layers, use the Color Picker, and how to draw shadows.

🖌 Brush details
The brush profile Nastya uses has an eye shape - so either select the first brush style from our presets, found in the Brush Selection Pane.
Or go to the brush editor and set Roundness to 100%, Angle to 0 degrees, Minimum Width to 0. So your contour will look like a perfect hill.

Hello~Thanks for your app. I like your app so much. I draw many characters very often by this. But I have a question. When I save my working by AI file, the letters written by new fonts are lost. The new fonts couldn't save. But they are written by basic fonts. I need AI file, so I want you to check this part. So sorry and thanks a lot for your supporting me.

You can easily use a free software like Sketchbook or Nastya even used Apple Pages for the floral typography tutorial, for example. But ultimately, just as Nastya did in this video, you can sketch in your notebook and upload the image into Vectornator. Or use our Scan feature to import an image in seconds. Hope this helps!
