    Hello everyone,
    Welcome to a new Vectornator Tutorial. Today, the amazing Soodabeh Damavandi is showing us how to draw vector leaves.
    Leaves can take many shapes, but in this video, we start off simple in order to show the steps in a clear and straighforward way. But we finish with arguably one of the most beautiful leaves out there - a Monstera leaf. Which is also more complex.
    So you can practice both types until you get the hang of drawing vector leaves from your own references and sources of inspiration.
    In this tutorial, you will use the Pen, Pencil, Shape, Node, and Selection Tool; and you will also learn how to create simple shapes, duplicate them, multi-select, use the Color Picker, and how to draw a heart from start to finish.
    Soodabeh (@Sooodesign) is a skilled illustrator and icon designer, so we couldn't have collaborated with a better creator for this job. Her style of teaching is very soothing and calming so we hope you enjoy every bit of it.
    This video is part of a bigger series called Vectornator Tutorials, which is meant to help you become a better illustrator and designer. If this feels too advanced, check out our Academy series which explains the basics of Vectornator.
    There are lots more where this came from. Make sure to subscribe to the Vectornator channel to never miss a thing. And click on a new video to keep learning.

    Super helpful! I’m still having trouble with the shadows though. When I subtract, I don’t get the shape you do. Is there a vid that shows the process slower?

      While we check this out, here are 2 alternative ways to achieve the same result:
      After creating both circles and placing the second slightly higher than the first as in the video -> select both circles -> use the 'Divide' Boolean Operation -> select just the top segment of the upper circle and delete it -> change the colour of the lower circle to a darker shade and you're good to go!
      Alternatively, create both circles, making the lower circle a darker shade -> place the lighter circle slightly higher than the other -> select both circles -> using the 'Shape Builder' in 'Erase Mode' tap on the top segment of the upper circle to remove it and you're all done
      😊

      Soodabeh usually creates her sketches in Procreate ✌️

    Does vectornator support palm rejection?

    • @linearityhq
      @linearityhq  ปีที่แล้ว

      We're not 100% where we'd like to be with regards to palm rejection but the team is aware of the issue and looking into it! In the meantime, we offer the ability to set your document to 'draw only with pencil' in which case your Apple Pencil's actions will be the only input recognised 🙂

    What is brush name used in this video?

    • @linearityhq
      @linearityhq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The brushes don't have names, but Soodabeh used a very basic brush with flat ends. You can achieve the same effect with the Pencil Tool

    lol. I thought this is about vectornator then I realized this is a procreate.
    update: i wish she showed us how to export from procreate but I saved it as tiff and open it with vectornator.

    The shading part didn’t work for me with the subtract Bolean. It removed that portion of the entire shape and left only the bottom part.

      Same thing was happening to me, but after watching the video 500 times, I realised the shape gets duplicated twice over the original. The second shape then gets moved slightly, then the subtract function, and you should be able to complete the shadow effect, if that make sense.

      Lol i had one luck of getting it to work. But I had no idea what I did. I’m redoing it with basic shapes and it’s not working. I even play the video in slow motion and still couldn’t figure it out. It’s magic I guess

    Can I draw without Apple Pencil? And please don’t sketch to do this, just use the vector you have. Thanks!

      Hi there, it's possible to draw without an Apple Pencil and simply use your finger instead! Regarding an alternative stylus, Vectornator is also compatible with the Wacom Bamboo Slate.
