    Could you do a paper test with gmk row 3 to check for interference (of the raccoons)

    • @milktoothnu
      @milktoothnu  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to clarify: north facing interference?

    • @0xss
      @0xss ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@milktoothnu when these switches are used in a board which has north facing leds, ie the led slot of the switch faces up, the tops hit gmk keycaps of row profile 3 and sound odd.
      To check this, a gmk keycap is mounted on the switch and a paper is inserted between the keycap bottom and switch top and is then pressed, if the paper falls freely it is free of interference and if it stays due to contact point between the keycap underside and switch top, it does interfere.
      Hope that clears things

      @@0xss Thanks for the clarification. There seems to be no north facing interference of the Baby Raccoons with Cherry profile keycaps (GMK keycaps' profile).
      Here's the paper test: streamable.com/qpporu

      If interference bother you that much just look for long pole switch with reduced travel

    • @Sylveighty
      @Sylveighty ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cauvang1183 i think they're asking that because new gateron switches usually feature a top housing mold shaped in a way that prevents CPI even with non long pole full 4mm travel switches (most notable is the Gateron Oil King and Gateron Pro Series), they are simply asking if the Baby series shares the same mold. Which the answer to is yes as shown by Milktooth's reply

    Great video. I'd love to see a video of Baby Kangaroos vs BSUN Hutts. BSUN's seem to have a lot of the same characteristics, but are a good 10G lighter. Then of course, compare them to the MX Brown experience (BK's seem more lateral to that with some crisp punchiness)

    Normally I don’t ever comment on videos but this was a great review! I’m looking for switches for a barebones kit I’m putting together for my first keyboard. I was planning on getting the gateron milky yellow pros because they’re budget, but I am considering the raccoons as well. Do you think you could do a review between the two?? If not then do you think the raccoons are worth the extra price? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks again for a great review!

      Thanks for your feedback :)
      As for my thoughts on the Milky Yellow Pros vs Baby Raccoons, it's just way too subjective of a call to decide which one is "better." I really would recommend our try at-home program so you can decide for yourself as to which linear switch is best for you: milktooth.nu/

    Overall informative video but I have to say I just don't get the scale from pillow to marble. I have the baby raccoons on my NuPhy65 and they are silky smooth and not particularly clacky (as your own sound test seems to verify). Calling them "marbly" just seems like the wrong metaphor.

    • @milktoothnu
      @milktoothnu  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey TXLogic, appreciate the feedback.
      I agree I can improve with my descriptions' specificity. Let me know what word you would use instead to describe these Baby Raccoons!

    • @TXLogic
      @TXLogic ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@milktoothnu I thought the "honey" vs "water" metaphor was on the money - BRs are smooth but the greater actuation for force makes them more "viscous" than water. But that won't really work for the BKs since their tactile - but I suspect "marbly" doesn't work for them either.

    • @milktoothnu
      @milktoothnu  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TXLogic Thanks for the response, very helpful. Ultimately, as of right now, these descriptors are all subjective and there is ample room for interpretation and thereby disagreement. Something I want to move towards is a way to somehow objectively capture the essence behind switch adjectives (e.g. creamy, thocky, marbly) through measurements. This way there'd be less ambiguity when using this vocabulary.
      If you have more thoughts I'd love to know. Feel free to join the Discord in the video description. I think your ideas are very acute and I'd love to chat more there. Communicating through TH-cam comments can be a bit cumbersome!

      I got mine recently and coming from an OG Razer keyboard with razer green clicky gamer junk switches I actually get what he means now that I’ve tried them.
      The sound and feeling sounds kind of like a fancy marble chess board with marble pieces with the felt on the bottoms, and the actuation for them makes them lowkey kind of a finger workout but once I get used to how much more effort it takes than that gaming keyboard or my Magic Keyboard I don’t think it’ll negatively affect typing.
      At the end of the day it feels looks and sounds so good I’m at the point where I’ll do finger squats if that’s what it takes to keep using it

    I dont know how people call the BBK tactiles. They may be tactile by category but an accurate description would be "Non-Linear Linear".
    there is no tactility, not obvious tactile point. They feel like a weak replication of a collapsing dome, or a topre.
    I actually like this feeling however but its not strong enough for me.
