- This second video in the Isle of Man series features Port Erin, Port St. Mary and the Calf of Man. All are located in the South of the island, an area that reminds many visitors of Cornwall with its winding lanes, dry shone walls, wide beaches and narrow coves but with 18th century crofters’ villages and four-horned sheep it us defiantly Manx.
Both towns are served by the Isle of Man Stean Railway that runs from the capital, Dougles, as well as two active Lifeboats.
Port Erin, still designated a village, is larger than Castletown, the ancient capital of the island. Unlike many much larger English towns, this ‘village’ not only has a busy shopping centre, but an active branch of the Isle of Man Bank.
Port St Mary is the home of the Isle of Man Yacht Club with both an inner and outer harbour. Family holidaymakers can joy both rock pools as well as a large sandy beach.
Both harbours offer boat trips around the Calf of Man to see the birdlife and the colony of seals.
More active tourists will enjoy the coastal paths that lead past the Chasms to the Calf of Man.
The Sound Café overlooking the Calf offers both food, dronk and information. The Manx Heritage Trust which oversees the Calf offers overnight stays on the island.

Thank Your for this nice video.I like the blue belles and the other plants
Thank you for your comment I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Looks a lovely place! Fancy some of those Queenies now!
Thanks! It is a very calming place with slightly dated charm. The queenliest though are right up to the minute.
Great vid ... subbed
Not subbed - more of a personal trip down memory lane
Thank-you for some fascinating videos on the Isle of Man. The Queenies look delicious! Also the little croft houses 💚
Thank you for your kind words. Glad you liked the queenies! The is land provides wonderful seafood.
Now Port Erin has the only bank outside Douglas and Ramsey
You are still lucky. Some of us "Across" still have to tral many miles to find a bank branch. Mind you, you are an island of finance!
I have lived in the Isle of Man for 16 years now and my one piece of advice is to stay away from Douglas- it is a dump 😂. Great video though , thank you
Thanks for the complimentary words. as far as Douglas is concerned, I could not possibly comment! Suffice it to say that there are so may beautiful places on the island
Would you say Ramsay is nicer?
It is a close-run thing but my vote would go to Peel over Ramsay for its many alleyways of fisherman cottages. My true heart lies with Port St Mary.@@endlessglizzys_.0233
I sincerely appreciate your truly interesting journey to the Isle of Man , having never been there it’s a real eye opener ! So beautiful, both in scenery and local architecture. A little gem, in fact. ( first class narration and editing, too, I’ll add ). Thank You so much dear Sir … a joy to be subscribed to your channel 👍🏼❤️
Wow! Praise indeed for a newbie TH-camr but I am glad that they are giving you so much pleasure. Three more to come in the next few weeks - but Birminghah canals next.

You’re a National Treasure in the making ! I think the tourist board should be more than delighted, too. Now I’m hankering after scallops for tea …. 😋 yum ! Enjoy the weekend
@@christinethornhill Thanks, Christine, you are a great cheerleader!
