Hi, lovely video, spent weeks living there in the late 70s early 80s, Helped out at the observatory and as a local to Port St Mary spent most of my spare time in my own boat fishing along the coast that you travelled on. Miss the place so so much, thank you.
Hey! I have not seen those Puffin birds. We don´t have those here in Finland (Very, very random here). Beautiful bird! The Calf of man is beautiful place too. Thanks for sharing video!
I've never known your part of the world until you've shared it with us, just beautiful and uniquely different than the fingerlakes region of new york state that I live in
Love that Dragon drinking. It does look like a dragon and thanks for sharing with us. It is very different and unique for us to see where you came from. I am hoping to travel there in a few yrs time when pandemic is all over with my family. Florida, USA 💕
What a splendid film. I've been to the Calf three times. The first time I was almost the only person on the boat and the solitude was awesome. I will get back there one day and, maybe, finally realise my ambition to stay over. Is that Jane's House at the nine minute mark? I have a photo (a selfie before the days of selfies) of me inside Jane's House some time, I think, in the nineties when I lived n Ramsey for a while. I love the Calf. One of my favourite special places
Excellent video Tanya and the Isle of Man and Calf of Man certainly has good scenery to compete with some of the beautiful scenery in Scotland and I have walked up various mountains in Scotland when I was younger and would love to do it again.
The Island is like a miniature version of Great Britain when it comes to landscapes. Parts like Scotland, and parts like England and Wales. Just squished into a tiny little speck in the Irish Sea :)
I haven't been to the Calf for many, many years. When I went puffins still nested there and the cliff side was full of them. What I do remember were the flippin' midgies!
@@Lovelygreens Probably. I seem to remember the weather was a bit overcast and damp the day I went. I really must go for another trip. Since I last went I got really interested in bird watching so I'd probably appreciate it more now.
I'm curious about the houses. Who lived there and how long ago did they leave? I'm asking because my family name is Calf, which we've been told is because our ancestors came from the Calf. But thanks for the virtual walk about, it's great to know what it looks like there.
Calf is an old word that means little island. I'm not sure about your last name, but I don't think it's Manx - or, at least, not a common Manx name. I've never heard it here before. Maybe it was taken on after your family emigrated? If you want to trace your ancestry, there's a wonderful genealogy museum in the Isle of Man called the iMuseum. As for the tholtans on the Calf, they were vacated decades ago. There were a few farming families that lived there, but others were there to man the lighthouses.
No bird likes to be caught, but Aron and the team are doing incredible work in bird conservation and education. Starling was perfectly fine when released :)
What a beautiful, unspoiled place. Thank you for sharing!
You're very welcome :)

I love the shot of you and Josh on the bench. That was lovely! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Me too :) It's so rare that we can get a chance just to spend time with one another like that
The IOM is where my grandfather's family is from. Such a beautiful island! Never been to the Calf but I would love to.
Every views is lovely
Can't wait for this Friday. I am coming over to visit my sister in law who lives in Douglas and may be visiting the laxey wheel
That was a wonderful episode of your from now on regular series "Lovely Isle of Man"!
If people are interested in the Island, I'd be happy to make more :)

What a beautiful video you made. I haven't been anywhere in such a long time, it was a real treat to tag along with you.
It was our first "off-island" trip together since 2019! Such a special way to get a little holiday in without feeling unsafe 💚
Beautiful! That bird was so cute! Thank you for sharing :)

There were few while we were there but it had been very dry up until the day we arrived. Maybe that had something to do with it?

Herşey. Çok güzel. Ve. Doğal. Tedrık Ederım seni 👍👍
One of my first memories is a cow being crossed it really was terrible
It must have been terrifying for the cows - the Sound is always very choppy.
Well they go under water for most the way. I’d be shocked if there weren’t a percentage that died every time.
Looks like a place they would film a highlander movie
Definitely! We're not all that far from Scotland and have some similar landscapes :)
A few films have been made here. Waking Ned was filmed here, and the phone box in Cregneash was still green up until a couple of years ago.
💖😊💖
Its beautiful, but it's the arse end of nowhere lol bit freaky
Starling was horrified and he just keeps restraining it not giving a shit about stressing it
No bird likes to be caught, but Aron and the team are doing incredible work in bird conservation and education. Starling was perfectly fine when released :)
