    Good tip. I bent the little oil plate under it trying it pry mine up. Ordered a new one. I ended up flipping the case over and getting it to pop up just enough my bearing puller fit under it. This would have been quicker honestly.

    OMG! Thanks so much for that tip. I would never have guessed that is how you do it! And if the bearing retainer cage is not damaged in the process, the bearing is really safe to reinstall for another 100,000 miles?

    Do I have to remove all transmission?

  • @isaackauffman5478
    @isaackauffman5478 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You don’t have to take the trans apart for this correct?

    • @Ocurrey1320
      @Ocurrey1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well usually if you’re this far into it, the transmission is already apart. But if you are referring to the complete disassembly of the counter and mainshaft? Then no.

      @@Ocurrey1320 my counter shaft bearing is bad on my 93 f150 and was wondering how to do it to get an estimate on what it would cost.
      So you can just drop that trans and remove it?
      If so that would be great. Thanks for helping.

  • @franksgaragehonda

    Anyway, to remove the bearing without pulling it apart like that?

      Unfortunately not. But it is very easy to separate and to put back together

    When is a time you recommend swapping out the bearings?

    • @naughtiusmaximus830
      @naughtiusmaximus830 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the input shaft bearing goes or when you cook a bearing and send shrapnel though the case would be my take. Probably optional even with the input shaft bearing bad.

  • @wethebest777

    Would this cause loud engine noise when exceeding 80km/h speed if its bad?

    • @Ocurrey1320
      @Ocurrey1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well not so much engine noise but a noise in the transmission yes. Does the noise you hear grow as the speed gets greater and when you change gears?

    • @wethebest777
      @wethebest777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ocurrey1320 when I change gears no, but as I speed up above 80km/h the engine nosie will be more and more loud.. I wonder what that could be? I replaced all spark plugs and both front wheel bearings but still not solved..please help me if you know what is the cause.

    • @Ocurrey1320
      @Ocurrey1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wethebest777 Honestly it could still be a multitude of things and without actually seeing or hearing it myself, it will be very hard to diagnose. You might have better luck making a video about it and posting it online. Have you considered doing that?

    How about the removal of the main bearing without damaging it?

    • @Ocurrey1320
      @Ocurrey1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You use a long flathead screwdriver and go through the mainshaft hole from the clutch side. Push it through and rest it on the inner part of the bearing right after the seal and tap it out. Comes out easily

    • @ErKing-zj4pl
      @ErKing-zj4pl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your speedy response. I need to swap inner casings. On a ep3 transmission. Can I just use whatever existing shims and internals and just swap everything over to the next case, without any issues?

    • @Ocurrey1320
      @Ocurrey1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ErKing-zj4pl well every case is not the exact same. You’re going to have to check clearances after you swap over to see if it works. If not you may need to a different shim
