@@orbalology I think I've been spending way too much time in the somniel in FE Engage because I've spent 50 hours and im only on chapter 12. I did two dlc maps also though. Did you do the somniel activities after every chapter?
You are glowing Emily! Always happy to tune in and hear your thoughts about the games you enjoy, we share very similar tastes! My first VN experience was with The House In Fata Morgana: Dreams of The Revenants Edition- it genuinely moved me to tears more than once and I can with confidence say it is one of the best, most well developed stories and characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The art style is very unique and gothic which might turn people off from this title, however the writing and music makes up for all of it. It comes bundled with a prequel story and a fully voiced sequel, with more light hearted side stories to wrap it all up once you’re done! The Main Story (Fata Morgana) took me about 40 hours, so there is A LOT of reading if you decide to see things through with both the sequel and prequel. I can see this lasting me well over 100 hrs. much luv:) Yes, all the reviews of the game are true- it is that good!
Great stuff! It's only April so I'd say that's fantastic!!! Beating games is the best feeling. Seeing the outcome of a great story and then being able to check it off your list is unmatched.
Emily I discovered your channel today and I love how calming and informative it is to watch you go through these games. And I also love that you play games I haven’t yet. So I’m definitely excited to watch more of your videos. Thanks :)
I love fire emblem engage. Story was fine, but gameplay wise and how beautiful everything looked. I loved it. In one of the more celebrated fire emblem games. Awakening. The characters didn’t have feet! So we’ve come along away. And I’m here for it. And Emily, I’ve seen you cover atelier ryza a few times. I think I’m gonna get started on that series. It looks like a lot of fun.
Haha, yeah it's nice to have all the characters have proper feet in Engage 😂 And I hope you enjoy Atelier Ryza! It's really one of the most charming games :)
I personally really like the huge number of characters in Engage, one of the game's main appeal is to try out different team/Emblem synergy on replays (on my third palaythrough atm and already planning for a fourth one). That said, I do recommend holding back on DLC and try a non-DLC replay first to see how you feel, so you wouldn't get overwhelmed by even more Emblems and characters (also the bonus campaign was... less than ideal to say the least). Enjoyed the breakdown of the other games, which I haven't played save for Transistor. Lost Dimension sounds very interesting; wishlist'd for now, thanks! Yurukill was on my radar, been debating internally to either it, Paranormasight, or Process of Elimination for my next mystery VN/thriller fix...whichever one get the discount first i guess lol~
I bought Ryza 1 and 2 in February with Pnp's restock, I have a long road ahead trying to get to Ryza 3 😂. I'm really looking forward to Mahoyoru! The first kinetic novel I played was Fata Morgana (I took a chance at Limited Run's CE) and that was absolutely amazing! Thanks for the fun video!
Thanks for watching :) Enjoy the Ryza games!! Witch on the Holy Night was my first non interactive VN & I'm looking forward to trying out The House in Fata Morgana sometime this year (I keep hearing how amazing it is haha).
I adored Transistor for the gameplay and especially the soundtrack! Ashley Barret and Darren Korb do a tremendous job with nearly every song! Lovely video, Emily! ♡
I’m currently making my way through the wonderful LOH Trails in the Sky and then I’ll be heading into Trails from Zero which my husband recently bought me for my birthday. So glad I decided to start at the beginning, it’s going to be such an amazing adventure.
I think this is the first real breakdown of Yurukill that I've seen, and it actually looks pretty cool! Also, Witch on the Holy Night seems way more interesting than I initially gave it credit for, so I guess add that one to the list, too! I have no time...😵
I've just finished Azure. I only discovered the trails series in the last year ( living under a rock, I know). Luckily for me, I have got to play them in the release order. Needless to say, I'm hooked.
FE: Engage 4th wave DLC was fantastic! The story for it was much better than the base game in my opinion and the maps were very fun! Also the bracelet emblems are super fun to play with! As a huge Fire Emblem fan I highly recommend it! And you being quite the Fire Emblem fan yourself, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! :D
I'm so glad to hear your thoughts on Witch on the Holy Night, since I'm really excited to get to that one! I'll take your advice and mix it in with another game so I don't get overwhelmed with a purely visual novel.
YuruKill and Lost Dimension sound so cool and are definitely on my pickup list! Lost Dimension was released on ps3 so me and the BF are gonna play it asap!
Witch of the Holy Night is great! I think Type-moon VNs and the Nasuverse in general is a whole rabbit hole and VNs are definitely on the slow side, but it's def worth a read, especially when Tsukihime's remake eventually (hopefully) gets localized for the west! If you plan on playing that at some point, I'd also recommend watching the Kara no Kyoukai series/movies too! Great video!
I have Yurukill coming in the mail. It being a shmup hybrid was such an unexpected surprise, I had to snatch it up. I love when games bring together genres like that. I'm currently playing Deemo Reborn, which is also a cool hybrid because it's a fairly normal rhythm game, but you also wander around an area and solve puzzles in between songs.
i SO agree with your review of FE engage!! im not quite done with it but really, the gameplay is so fun. yurukill also looks interesting, i might pick that up :)
witch on the holy night ambience is beautiful! But, hey, just saying something a bit off topic: this last week i thought ''uh, why i never saw One Piece...?'' and knewing that you're a fan, then i need to say i become one too!! Hadn't time in the day and at the night (work+ college), then i filled my dawn with the episodes, and it's being a blast. I was in tears in Nami arch... holly crap (and i do love the manga panels arts)
Great reviews! I think the Fire Emblem Engage dlc is worth it for all of the extra Emblem rings. Many of their abilities were fun to use and helped me in battle. Also love having Tiki, Camilla and Edelgard on my team 🥰
awesome list! I'm working on my second playthrough of Trails from Zero and then will do a second playthrough of Azure in prep for Reverie. I played the Chinese PC version with the Geofront patch back in the day. lol For 2023 I also played Soul Hackers 2, Eiyuden Chronicle Rising, Like A Dragon Ishin!, Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight, and a second playthrough of Trails in the Sky SC. I'm also playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Shining Force CD on and off lol
Some really nice games you have been playing. When I play games I try to utilize all my modern consoles. So I play multiple games at the same time on my PS5, Series X and Switch. Unfortunately, the Switch gets the least use and I have only really played Fire Emblem Warriors recently. It is quite a while since I played a visual novel (the last one I played was World End Syndrome) and your video has reminded me that I should rectify that! Trails to Azure is really great and I am approaching the end (so dramatic!). I am really enjoying seeing all the links to the ToCS arc both big and small. Now I really want to play The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails when it comes out later this year.
Trails to Azure is AMAZING! I had picked up Yurukill when it was released but it sadly got shunted to the back because of all the other great games coming out. I'm not really familiar with Transistor but I just added it to my wish list so I'll likely be grabbing it soon. Thanks for the great video!
I got into the Fire Emblem franchise through ENGAGE and I'm happy that you were not too harsh on it. I love it and I feel like it is getting a lot of hate from some. It made me LOVE the franchise and start exploring other games, watching playthroughs, and even going on ebay and buying an old RADIANT DAWN book (because Ike and Micaiah were my favorites). I have since bought THREE HOUSES and it is a FANTASTIC story - but at times it feels more like GAME OF THRONES (not necessarily a bad thing) TV series or even novel. And Engage is just so darn fun to return to.
Been looking forward to this one! Really like your reviews on Yurukill and Witch on the Holy Night, the art style in both is gorgeous and Yurukill sounds right up my alley! I never really played Shoot'Em Ups before but the entire package seems very fun and enjoyable! Also Transistor really is so good! :) Also also, after your Ryza 3 review and first impresssions i'm even more torn between which to start! 😭 As always, stellar work Emily! :)
I think you'll end up enjoying Yurukill! The shoot 'em up sequences were pretty user friendly with adjustable difficulty levels which was nice. And the story was really quite cool :) And haha, it's tough between Ryza 3 and Azure. But I think I may have mentioned this before - you can't go wrong with either choice 😉
You aren't alone. In FE: Engage, it took me about 25 hours of playtime before it dawned on me that the paralogue and skirmishes scale with your level haha.
Really fun video emily! its cool to hear your thoughts on the games you have played especially Fire emblem engage and atelier ryza 3. You have changed my mind about FE engage and now i am going to pick it up. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks for these short reviews. It's nice to hear about some games that slipped past my radar. I didn't even know that Type Moon released a new visual novel.
I hope you enjoy it! The battles were really satisfying, and once you get to know the party members a bit more the support convos were fun to unlock :)
Been waiting to hear your thoughts on engage after you beat it for so long now that I'm kind of tired of thinking about that game 🥲 Like you said I'm glad the combat in engage is much more exciting and the character customization is outstanding, but the story/elements carried over from three houses really burnt me out on the game to the point where i'm still near the end and have not felt like finishing it. I never played a Type-Moon VN before but was always interested in their Tsukihime series so Witch on the Holy Night being a prequel and actually having a localization sounds like a good starting point for me to get into the series. Bastion is still probably my favorite supergiant game so when Transistor first came out and i played it I was somewhat underwhelm compared to Bastion. After all this time I should go back and play it again while not comparing it to Bastion and I'm sure I will really like the game. I'm so excited for you that you get to play Azure for the first time. Azure is top 3 for me in the series and I hope you make a review video on it. Great video Emily, your cerberus hoodie looks great, my bad for the long comment
Oh no worries, I enjoy long comments even if I'm not able to respond all the time! And I think you can always return to FE Engage if you're feeling a bit burned out. Maybe dipping into the DLC once it goes on sale would be a good time to revisit :) And yeah Witch on the Holy Night I think is a good entry point - let's hope Type-Moon localizes the rest of the Tsukihime games! I feel a bit silly claiming to be a supergiant games fan but I haven't played Bastian yet. I own it digitally but idk if I've been hesitating starting it because I'm waiting to get ahold of a physical edition. Seems a bit silly but 🤷♀️
Ha, I haven't watched the older Battlestar Galactica, just a little of the reboot they did in the 2000s. But I can see the similarities with the traitor themes :)
So far in 2023 I've only been able to play a small portion in the middle of Persona 5 Royal, but hopefully next month I'll start actually being able to finish that up and play other games. I haven't played any of the games you talked about yet, but I'm hoping to get around to Fire Emblem Engage, the Atelier Ryza series, and the Trails series eventually, so those are all on my list.
Great video! I was very interested in your thoughts on Fire Emblem: Engage as this was the first Fire Emblem I bought since the first one released on the Game Boy Advance outside Japan (I feel that may have been the first game in the series released outside of Japan, could be wrong though). I was a bit wary of Three Houses as I did not really want to spend a lot of time caught up in a social sim (most of my Q1 was taken up with Persona 3 FES already!) so I am glad to hear there is more of a focus on the battling in Engage. May make it my handheld game after I beat Mother 1 and while Tears of the Kingdom and FF16 hog the TV😛
Oh if you're familiar with the first GBA FE game then I think you'll enjoy Engage! There have been a lot of refinements over the years especially with the combat & skill farming. But you don't have to worry about the social aspects so much with this entry, most of it is optional :)
Trails to Azure became my 2nd favorite game after Xenoblade 1 when I beat it 2 years ago so I hope you keep enjoying that one. I haven't played/read many visual novels but one of them is Chaos;Child and it's really good, not sure if you watch anime but its set in the same universe as Steins;Gate(which is also a great VN.
Nice completions. I used to love jrpgs because they were long and you got your moneys worth. Now that i am older, i have many more types of games to enjoy. Here is a few of my completion list recently: Fallout 76 = 240 hours Remnant: From the Ashes = 40 hours (amazing game) Greedfall = 60 hours Dying Light + The Following DLC = 50 hours Aliens Fireteam Elite = currently playing
Trails to Azure is an amazing game for me! The first half is bit slow and does a lot of build up for the second half and the later is a non-stop roller coaster where all pieces from Zero to Azure come together. It's not a perfect game but it does what it wants to do really well imho. Hope you get over some barriers (meme aside lol) and enjoy the game!
I love Engage and also managed to snap up the special edition. The Yuru kill game has great looking vibes. Have you tried Mato Anomalies? I just got it and played the very beginning but I want to finish Dungeon of Nahbeuleuk dlc first as it’s such good fun playing a comedic SRPG after a serious one like FE. Another great video thank you 🫶
Im playing and enjoying Atelier Ryza 3 & Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The trails from Zero & Azure cases keep catching my eye every time i walk by them 😂 but since its my first time trying these type of games i want to fully indulge when I do get to play the trails series.
Thanks!! And yes I was thinking after finishing up Trails to Azure going back to BotW for a bit before TotK finally comes out & takes over our lives lol
I cant believe a quarter of this year is already over :o it feels like Fire Emblem Engage just launched, but its been 3 months and I still havent gotten around to play it. I started this year by finishing Persona 5 Royal, then played a bit of Elden Ring before Hogwarts Legacy launched. Just finished Hogwarts Legacy like a week ago (with the platinum trophy) and now I am 6 hours into Atelier Ryza and hope I can finish it before Zelda comes out
I felt the same way about Engage having too many characters, but after thinking about it, Three Houses did require 3 playthroughs to closely interact with most of the characters. That makes a difference, and so I can kinda understand them including so many for fans who will play this multiple times as well
I’m like you takes me a while to get round to finish games I’ve bought . Love my switch, but ps5 has to be my biggest addiction this yr in my gaming journey .
This year I have played Dragon Quest Builders 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Metroid Prime Remastered, and I’m almost finished with Final Fantasy III / VI. After that I think I’ll get into Pokémon Legends Arceus until TotK comes out!
Bastion by supergiant is a fun, short and all around excellent lil game. Worth a trailer watch at least. Thanks for your considered opinion videos! So wholesome and refreshing in the game review youtube soup.
I have Bastion digitally! I've been looking into getting ahold of a physical copy actually (but lowkey waiting to see if Limited Run reprints it for the Switch eventually). And thanks for watching :)
More Switch Games..... Always more Switch Games. Great Vid as I have never heard of a one of these! That's a Feat! Just Finished Prime Remastered and am now juggling Pocky and Rocky Reshrined and Captain Toad.
“I’m certainly not the fastest when it comes to completing games.” Yeah that’s called being an adult 😂. Unless it’s a game or series you have been following for a long time, it’s just difficult to insert a long game (jrpgs in particular) in one’s schedule. I just finished trails from zero and recently started azure last week. Hoping to finish it before TOTK arrives hopefully. Also bought Grim Grimoire but put it in the backlog for now. Want to concentrate on azure since it’s difficult to return to if you leave it for a while (my own experience with trails from zero). Noticed something. This video has a much better and louder audio. Past videos sometimes felt like you were whispering or mumbling. Glad to see that was addressed. New editing technique or new equipment? Or perhaps you were just closer to the equipment. Anyways, great video!
@@orbalology What ever it is, it sounds better 😂. About trails to azure, despite having a game summary of the previous game, it certainly pays off to finish trails from zero because there are various references and your end game save from that and the choices you made affect parts of the sequel. Plus various stats carry over (character bonds, craft upgrades and more.).
Yeah exactly same thing for me. No shame in looking at walkthrough videos. My time is limited and important and I cant be stuck with one puzzle for a very long time 😊
Yurikill was a great game. I think the mixed genres turned some people away, but I really enjoyed it. Biggest sleeper of a game. Almost no one has heard of it.
I just started smt iv. I want to finish it by my birthday in august bc totk and ff XVI will be my summer rpgs. I’ll hope to restart my playthrough around mid july. Then after smt iv apocalypse
Have you played Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon? It is fantastic, the story is Great the voice acting is top-notch, and it's a great action-adventure game with some puzzle work and a story like your reading an old book.
I have so many thoughts about Fire Emblem Engage, but I think you covered the majority of them in this video. I think you also hit the nail on the head with how Three Houses fans would feel about the game. Three Houses my introduction to the series and I think I was more disappointed with the story than you and other people that started with some of the earlier games in the series. Overall, I think it was a great game and I didn’t put 110+ hrs into the game for nothing. My hope is that the next mainline Fire Emblem game keeps the same level of gameplay quality that Engage had with the writing quality that Three Houses had.
@orbalology I might play them all eventually, but I started with 3 because it's my favorite. I figured I'd play the one like most before Tears of the Kingdom takes over. Have you played battle network before?
@orbalology oh nice, you're in for a treat if you decide to try them out. Battle Network is a great rpg, but there's plenty of gameplay variety in the MM franchise overall.
Looks like you have been busy playing some awesome games! I picked up Yurukill last year and I still haven’t gotten around to playing it yet. The Danganronpa vibes made me interested. Awesome vid as always!
Thanks Steph! I've been looking into the new NIS localization Process of Elimination which is supposed to have Danganronpa vibes as well - it looks interesting from what I've seen so far!
I've been hot and heavy into my 3DS since before and after now that the eshop closed. So I've been playing Zelda A Link Between Worlds & Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright.
I think your review of Engage was spot on. I finished up the DLC and while I wouldn't say I was disappointed per se, I don't think it was as good as the Cindered Shadows DLC from 3 houses in terms of map design (with one particular map feeling extremely RNG dependent), and the difficulty scaling could use some work. I did genuinely enjoy the story and writing of Fell Xenologue, though the rejoin to the main story felt kind of abrupt. However it did add some new non-emblem units to play with, along with 2 new pretty unique classes, so it has definitely helped the replay experience. If I'm honest, my biggest complaint about the DLC Expansion pass is a lack of Emblem Alm 🥲 Also initially I felt like I would have rather had Azura instead of Camilla, but I ended up really enjoying the Camilla portrayal.
Oh this is good to know about the DLC! I was hearing on Twitter how some wished they didn't finish the 4th wave DLC because of how it ended which made me a bit worried. But yeah I'll have to grab it sometime when I feel like picking the game up again to try out some of the new characters and classes :)
@@orbalology I could definitely see it being a bit divisive. I suppose it comes down to how strongly you feel about some deus ex machina 😆Love that Hades hoodie by the way!
Hey Dr. Emily! I may be starting a channel as well with gaming, music, and comedy as the focus. I teach so I will have time during the Summer. Hopefully you can take a look when it gets going.
Hi Orbalology, Just have a question that is related to your videos on revised game cards. Is it really necessary to wait for revised game cards? Don't patches/updates gets saved on your console the first time you play a game anyway so even if Nintendo closes the website where you get patches from, you won't need to download them again everytime you out the gane cards in the console coz the patches/updates are already saved on your console, provided you don't delete them?? Hope you see this question and reply. Your answer will help me decide whether to keep a Switch game I recently bought or not. Thanks
Fire emblem engage is good but I do prefer three houses. I’ve spent 200 plus hours playing it getting all endings and it was fun seeing each house struggle with their own problems. Also trails to azure is amazing even though the game is old, I loved the Chibi like characters in zero/azure. Makes me appreciate the series even more
I'll have to try to get back into Three Houses to wrap up the routes. I did like the characters & the thoughtful storytelling. Just wished they made it easier to get past all the monastery stuff in the first half of each route 😅 I liked the chibi look in the earlier Trails games too & the isometric view.
so the novel games, are they basically watching\playing an actual novel instead of reading a physical book? What is your opinion of game titles having changed publishers? I know it does happen but rarely. Is it better to buy\play individual games vs the collection? MegaMan is probably the most recent of such collections coming out. With all of the RPG you play, do you ever get the itch to write\create your own characters or story? Being a writer myself, I would be torn between character development and plot development. Battle mechanics only matters if it is too difficult to figure out which would hinder further development. I guess for me the simpler battle mechanics would work for me. Would you have any suggestions for PC\Steam RPG games? If not, do you know of a TH-cam channel which focuses on PC\Steam games? I won't be leaving your channel but still nice to find a channel which focuses on games I can play.
VNs encompass a lot of different genres/playstyles. They are often more narrative based and some lean more book-heavy like Witch on the Holy Night I talked about, whereas others can be more puzzle or interactive focused like Yurukill. As for new collections, it depends! Some remasters/collections have some quality of life improvements compared to the original, whereas some less so (Tales of Symphona being a recent example). It also comes down to whether you already own the games on other hardware or not and how accessible is it on the different platforms. I don't really feel inclined to make my own games/story at this time. My creative outlets don't really lean that way at the moment. And for PC games most of the 3rd party games are multiplatform nowadays. I don't know of a specific channel that focuses just on those but there are a number of videos and perhaps channels that focus on the steam deck at least. But if you're interested in a particular game genre often times those that are covered are available on steam unless they're 1st party titles (for example all the games I covered in this video are available on Steam right now except for Fire Emblem Engage and Witch on the Holy Night - but the latter one may eventually make it's way to PC).
Keept looking at that DSi XL on the shelf 👀😅 Had one back in the day and loved that it was built like a tank. It was rough when i traded it in to get a 3DS at launch. Just finished with a playthru of Omori for the secret best ending. Have to do a hikikimori run next but i might play something else 1st before going back to it. The last few hours of that game were a doozy 😵💫
I hear so many great things about Omori so I've been hoping to fit it in sometime this year. And haha the DSi XL I imported from Japan fairly cheaply. I hear that DS games look best on that screen & wanted to try it the next time I pick up one of those titles :)
Fire Emblem Engage was amazing. The story was really childish, but I was fine with that. I played right after beating Yakuza Ishin's dark dramatic story, so it was really what I needed. The characters were loveable. Ivy and Veyle, were adorable, and Diamant was the perfect husbando. And the gameplay was crazy. Like really, I Byleth ability is basically dancer, then use Seadall's dancer on him, then loop it with Byleth dancer on dancer.
i watched this video for your thoughts on Witch on the Holy Night and I was pleasantly satisfied. As someone who recently finished the original Tsukihime, Ive been very intrigued with this release since well before it was announced and I'm glad you seem overall positive about it. Cant wait to read it. One question: how long did it take you to finish? Thanks for letting us know your views!
My main gripe with FE Engage was too many characters and interactions get limited and much like you said basically sticking to a main party made more sense than trying to keep everyone at the same level. I’ve taken a break from it and still need to finish but I have loved the story and all the emblems
@@orbalology Exactly, that is my issue. Gaming is divided into 2 sub-hobbies I think: one is to play the games and the other is to buy them. Recently I have been more into the buying part of the hobbie. So, you get new games, and are tempted to play them. Then you try them all and never finish anyhting hehe. Now that I recall, the first time this happened to was when I bought three N64 games at once back in 2001. I ended up finishing Banjo Tooie but dropped DK 64 and Majora's Mask, lol. Old habits die hard I guess, lol. Now I am focused on Azure, but I also resumed my play of CS2. Lately I have been playing bits of BotW to kind of warm up for the new game. I always play a bunch of stuff at the same time.
Is it bad I've never heard of any of these games lol 😅 i think i need to broaden my games horizon from what i typical play on playstation. I do love me some fifa though lol. Been playing through ghost recon wildlands which i like, always a fan of open world stuff too. Recently bought Nioh that i want to play and also dying light 2 😁
I had the opposite impression of Azure, probably a bad place to jump in as a first game, but I found it a bit too story heavy and I didn't realize it was turn based on a grid (something that hasn't really grown on me as a style) I'm sure its good, but I ended up drifting back to Bravely Default 2 to have a good crack at that again
I have the problem of wanting to start from the beginning of a series, which is why I never got into the trails series. At some point I’ll probably just decide to start it at the latest arc, after I get tired of trying to decide where to start. I’ll probably be picking up witch on the holy night as well. Also I’ve always wanted to play the xenoblade games, so I finally just preordered my first switch. The tears of the kingdom switch.
Tbf, the "most recent" arc will almost always be limited by being able to read japanese / chinese / korean, as falcom does not allow anyone other than CLE to see the script prior to completion to translate quickly, meaning there's always going to be somewhat of a delay for the other languages.
Also holding off on getting a PS5 to see if those "silm" redesign rumors are true or not. I'd have to imagine it would be announced at the latest around June where E3 would normally take place so I don't think it'll be too much longer for an announcement at least. Mind you I currently own a Series S, so I'm still able to play most of the current gen games that I want to.
I played FE Engage to chapter 5 so that I could put all my Amiibos into the game. Keep saying I'll get back to it, though I'm also someone who only finished the Black Eagles route for 3 Houses (the Golden Deer and Blue Lions attempts remain half finished).
I'd say that you've already played through quite a bit of games this year... Especially considering that most are lengthy rpgs. Legend!
Haha, the longest from this list was Ryza 3 at ~60 hours, FE Engage ~ 55 hours. The rest weren't nearly as long :)
@orbalology
Hey you got some nice .... shelves ? 🫤
@@orbalology I think I've been spending way too much time in the somniel in FE Engage because I've spent 50 hours and im only on chapter 12. I did two dlc maps also though. Did you do the somniel activities after every chapter?
@@90shandheldgamer Same! Its turning into ZOTW - not realizing how long I've been playing the game

Thanks for watching :)
Enjoy the Ryza games!! Witch on the Holy Night was my first non interactive VN & I'm looking forward to trying out The House in Fata Morgana sometime this year (I keep hearing how amazing it is haha).
Trails to Azure is an amazing game. Totally get not being able to put it down, haha. Enjoy the rest of the game!
Thanks! Really looking forward to getting back to it after work today :)
I adored Transistor for the gameplay and especially the soundtrack! Ashley Barret and Darren Korb do a tremendous job with nearly every song! Lovely video, Emily! ♡
Thank you Jay! One of the reasons why I caved & bought the collector's edition was to own that amazing soundtrack.
I have no time...😵
Haha, enjoy! If you're able to get around to them I'll love to hear your thoughts :)
I've just finished Azure. I only discovered the trails series in the last year ( living under a rock, I know). Luckily for me, I have got to play them in the release order. Needless to say, I'm hooked.
Aww nice! And haha yeah you have some good timing on that front 😁
Always nice to watch your videos. Your energy is contagious.
Either she is really bad at this... or someone is grooming
I'm so glad to hear your thoughts on Witch on the Holy Night, since I'm really excited to get to that one! I'll take your advice and mix it in with another game so I don't get overwhelmed with a purely visual novel.
I can't wait to play Fire Emblem Engage!
So that’s why I’m struggling with skirmishes, didn’t realise they were based on Altiers level. Now it makes sense, thanks for the info ❤
YuruKill and Lost Dimension sound so cool and are definitely on my pickup list! Lost Dimension was released on ps3 so me and the BF are gonna play it asap!
Yes tears of kingdom we all clear our calendars in may!!
Oh I'll have to look into those shows/movies. Hopefully Type-Moon will share more VN localization news soon :)
Ohh Deemo is one I've been eyeing - I don't have much experience with rhythm games but it looks like a neat experience.
i SO agree with your review of FE engage!! im not quite done with it but really, the gameplay is so fun. yurukill also looks interesting, i might pick that up :)
The combat is really fun in FE Engage. And hope you give yurukill since you found it interesting, it's a total hidden gem!
The most chill channel on youtube, not in a boring way
witch on the holy night ambience is beautiful!
Aww that's great! So glad to hear you're enjoying it too, so many of the arcs are an emotional ride!
Great reviews! I think the Fire Emblem Engage dlc is worth it for all of the extra Emblem rings. Many of their abilities were fun to use and helped me in battle. Also love having Tiki, Camilla and Edelgard on my team 🥰
I can't believe the prices on Zero and Azure are already up on the Switch :o Hopefully they make more copies
awesome list!
I'm really looking forward to Nayuta Boundless Trails as well. It sounds like a cool spinoff & should be fun with that Ys action combat :)
Trails to Azure is AMAZING! I had picked up Yurukill when it was released but it sadly got shunted to the back because of all the other great games coming out. I'm not really familiar with Transistor but I just added it to my wish list so I'll likely be grabbing it soon. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for watching! And glad to have put Transistor onto your radar :)
I loved the vibe of transistor so much, very unique OST, adore Bastion too
I got into the Fire Emblem franchise through ENGAGE and I'm happy that you were not too harsh on it.
Also also, after your Ryza 3 review and first impresssions i'm even more torn between which to start! 😭
As always, stellar work Emily! :)
I think you'll end up enjoying Yurukill! The shoot 'em up sequences were pretty user friendly with adjustable difficulty levels which was nice. And the story was really quite cool :)
And haha, it's tough between Ryza 3 and Azure. But I think I may have mentioned this before - you can't go wrong with either choice 😉
You aren't alone. In FE: Engage, it took me about 25 hours of playtime before it dawned on me that the paralogue and skirmishes scale with your level haha.
So glad your vids was in my recommended! Great content, Fire Emblem was great!
I've had a stressful day dealing with my ageing dogs. Needed a nice chill video to breathe for sec. Thanks
I hope the video helps :)
Just subbed because of this vid. Happy to join the journey!
Really fun video emily! its cool to hear your thoughts on the games you have played especially Fire emblem engage and atelier ryza 3. You have changed my mind about FE engage and now i am going to pick it up. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks Erica 😊 Oh I hope you end up enjoying FE Engage, the battles & new engage mechanics were a lot of fun to play around with :)
Thanks for these short reviews. It's nice to hear about some games that slipped past my radar. I didn't even know that Type Moon released a new visual novel.
Glad to have put their new localization on your radar! It comes in pretty cool packaging if you pick up the collector's edition too :)
Great video as always! I was on the fence about FE Engage but now I think I'll check it out!
Maybe dipping into the DLC once it goes on sale would be a good time to revisit :)
And yeah Witch on the Holy Night I think is a good entry point - let's hope Type-Moon localizes the rest of the Tsukihime games!
I feel a bit silly claiming to be a supergiant games fan but I haven't played Bastian yet. I own it digitally but idk if I've been hesitating starting it because I'm waiting to get ahold of a physical edition. Seems a bit silly but 🤷♀️
I didn't know about a lot of these, great channel! 👍
Thank you 😊
i really enjoy these casual reviews - this one also covered a few games I'm really interested in getting (Yurukill), thank you!
Glad to hear you like them! 😊
Just found your channel and really enjoyed this episode. Thanks :-)
So jealous of your Trails nendoroids, glad to see another fan
Surprised someone is mentioning Lost Dimenion in this day and age. Thumbs up, a charming little hidden gem.
Great selection of games! There is something similar in Lost Dimension, which resembles old TV series Battlestar Galactica.
What a fantastic amount of games! I may have to look into some of those myself.
Thanks! Which ones caught your eye?
Trails to Azure became my 2nd favorite game after Xenoblade 1 when I beat it 2 years ago so I hope you keep enjoying that one. I haven't played/read many visual novels but one of them is Chaos;Child and it's really good, not sure if you watch anime but its set in the same universe as Steins;Gate(which is also a great VN.
I've been wanting to get into the Science:Advuenture games! I have Steins;Gate on the vita but been meaning to pick up more :)
Nice completions. I used to love jrpgs because they were long and you got your moneys worth. Now that i am older, i have many more types of games to enjoy. Here is a few of my completion list recently:
Fallout 76 = 240 hours
Remnant: From the Ashes = 40 hours (amazing game)
Greedfall = 60 hours
Dying Light + The Following DLC = 50 hours
Aliens Fireteam Elite = currently playing
Trails to Azure is an amazing game for me! The first half is bit slow and does a lot of build up for the second half and the later is a non-stop roller coaster where all pieces from Zero to Azure come together. It's not a perfect game but it does what it wants to do really well imho. Hope you get over some barriers (meme aside lol) and enjoy the game!
Haha, thanks. And will do 😉
YuruKill seems like something to get invested in. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it.
You sold me on engage! Thank you! Subscribed.
Another great video!!! I'm also trying to finish a game before TOTK which will be TOP priority upon release :)
Just finished Hogwarts Legacy like a week ago (with the platinum trophy) and now I am 6 hours into Atelier Ryza and hope I can finish it before Zelda comes out
Time has really flown by this year! I still can't believe we're over halfway through April already.
Oh you got to a lot of cool games! Some that are still on my backlog too haha.
Ohhh which game was new to you?! 👀
@@orbalology YuruKill!
Love love LOVE! lost dimension, such a fun game!
It's great, glad to hear you enjoyed it too :)
Hi! Im slow at progressing through my games too. It's good to know Im not the only one
We got this - here's to finishing (& enjoying) many games this year! 💪
“I’m certainly not the fastest when it comes to completing games.”
Yeah that’s called being an adult 😂.
I switched to recording on my phone for the past few months. Nothing else changed equipment/editing-wise.
SMT4? Holy based 😎
Yeah exactly same thing for me. No shame in looking at walkthrough videos. My time is limited and important and I cant be stuck with one puzzle for a very long time 😊
Exactly :)
Yurikill was a great game. I think the mixed genres turned some people away, but I really enjoyed it. Biggest sleeper of a game. Almost no one has heard of it.
It is way too overlooked but I'm glad to hear you tried & enjoyed it as well :)
I just started smt iv. I want to finish it by my birthday in august bc totk and ff XVI will be my summer rpgs. I’ll hope to restart my playthrough around mid july. Then after smt iv apocalypse
How is Ryza 3? I have been on the fence about it with it being a heavy narrative game but the combat looks awesome and the crafting looks deep.
You should do a video on physical video games disappearing on store shelves I’ve seen a few videos of others talking about it.
Good list of games you've finished. I'm on the battle network train right now.
Are you planning to play through all of them? I have the new collection on my wish list but no idea when I'll be able to give them a go 😅
@orbalology I might play them all eventually, but I started with 3 because it's my favorite. I figured I'd play the one like most before Tears of the Kingdom takes over. Have you played battle network before?
I've actually never played any Megaman games or spinoffs before 🙈
@orbalology oh nice, you're in for a treat if you decide to try them out.
Thanks! I've become hooked on fangamer merch... it's starting to become a problem lol
I’ve yet to play Fire Emblem Engage but will eventually want to get into the Trails games
I hope you can give them a go sometime! :)
Hey Dr. Emily! I may be starting a channel as well with gaming, music, and comedy as the focus. I teach so I will have time during the Summer. Hopefully you can take a look when it gets going.
Hi Orbalology,
Just have a question that is related to your videos on revised game cards. Thanks
Transistor is dope, love Supergiant Games
They're great, I cannot wait for Hades II to drop 😊
Keept looking at that DSi XL on the shelf 👀😅
Had one back in the day and loved that it was built like a tank.
@orbalology
Omori has alot of heart. Has lead to me making of few expensive purchases on the developer's merch shop 💸🤓
It was really cool seeing so many familiar faces & the cool skillset combos during battle :)
@@orbalology absolutely and the animation is gorgeous
Do you ever play any metroidvanias on the switch there are several good ones and what did you think of occpath traveler 2
Im just curious in what difficulty you play on “Trails into Azure”? 😅
I am so disorganized with my game playing, I never finish anything, lol. At least, I hope to finish Ao/Azure soon.
I can understand you there! Especially when there are new game releases or acquisitions that tempt us to jump ship lol.
Can you explain what smuck (not sure if spelling is correct) gaming is? I can't find it on google.
Love your videos!
Thank you 😄
I have the problem of wanting to start from the beginning of a series, which is why I never got into the trails series.
Ohh that's very exciting!! The Xenoblade games are really so awesome. And nice I have the TotK OLED Switch coming too 😄
Tbf, the "most recent" arc will almost always be limited by being able to read japanese / chinese / korean, as falcom does not allow anyone other than CLE to see the script prior to completion to translate quickly, meaning there's always going to be somewhat of a delay for the other languages.
素晴らしいコレクションと日本のゲームを愛してくれてありがとう
Thank you for watching :)
I played FE Engage to chapter 5 so that I could put all my Amiibos into the game. Keep saying I'll get back to it, though I'm also someone who only finished the Black Eagles route for 3 Houses (the Golden Deer and Blue Lions attempts remain half finished).
Heh, maybe someday you'll return & progress a little more :)
