Yeah streaming games is not for everyone. I would much rather play alone or with friends on the tv or online play.
Yeah agreed. I rather play games alone.
It's also not a great feeling to wait around for engagement and get nothing but silence. Playing alone at least eliminates that stressor and allows you to relax.

To be honest, you are a big reason I began seeing collecting games and figured as something that can be more about highlighting favourite series and genres (JRPGs and VNs🥰) and less about hoarding every last title and keeping them in shrink wrap😅. Struggle of backlog getting bigger with new releases. I am basically limiting myself to must play new releases at 50 bucks. Release dates don't matter but for the rare titles that need a preorder (Elden Ring Collectors Edition, GTA VI, Zelda).
Most people who collect will have more games than time to play.

Congrats on 30K! I'm very glad that I found your channel. I know youtube is very saturated with game content, but I feel like I can really relate to your content as I really got into gaming when I finished grad school and finally had more time for hobbies after spending a lot of time on my studies. I got into collecting back in 2016 or so when I bought my first SNES. From there I just fell down the hole of JRPGS. While a lot of the content remains on my backlog (it's hard to find time for gaming while working in academia), I'm always excited to hear other fans share their experiences and their collections. Also it's super nice to watch videos from other women who are interested in JRPGS. Most of the channels I follow are of men, and while their content is nice, it's refreshing to have a different perspective. I hope you continue to make videos for a long time. :D

As a child i played rocket knight adventures for the genesis a lot lot. As soon as LRG announced it was coming back as a collection. I was so happy and so excited. I ordered it for switch and ps5. I wanted to share that memory and my excitement for it 😊.

I spend a lot of time on Tubi in the K-drama section. And if you haven't seen it yet, all the episodes Listening Snow Tower (with subs) is on TH-cam complete. It's maybe one of my favorite shows ever, if you haven't seen it.

I started streaming and didn't use a mic/camera. Turns out people liked watching me play games and finishing them, even though I never said anything other than occasionally chat messages.
I eventually got a mic and once I got comfortable using it, it was a lot of fun talking with viewers and followers.
Still, I don't like reading the dialog of the game, like for a rpg. Some streamers are great at it. I just play the game and talk if/when someone in chat talks to me.
So, I say, if you're thinking about streaming, go for it and see how you like it.

Great answer on the streaming front. It's not for everyone and not always just for anxiety reasons - but also for personal enjoyment reasons. I for one am not sure i could get the same level of enjoyment from a game i was playing if i had to talk and make sure those watching were also enjoying it.

So fun fact, apparently the reason we never got a physical release for FR compared to Torna is because the code of FR is complete spaghetti. It’s reliant on base XB3 to the point that for the Noah/Mio amiibo update you had to redownload FR completely. The only way we’ll get a physical on current hardware is if we get a cart of both together, which is probably very unlikely now.

I have just started playing FF7 Rebirth. I have only played few hours but already know it's likely my goty. The way they took the spirit of the original and transferred it to a completely new game is great. You can easily tell it's designed to PS5. The amount of detail is something we haven't seen in final fantasy game before.

Since you mentioned that you haven't gotten into too many "Tales of..." games, I liked Tales of Vesperia, and I think that got a re-release on the major consoles and probably isn't too expensive. Anyway... onward to 40k!

Oh man Dark Cloud is one of my favourite games ever. First ever PS2 games. Have you had a chance to play Dark Cloud 2 and Rogue Galaxy? The issue with the Dark series is it's Sony published so it's all up to them if they make more, not Level 5.

A big Congratulations on the 30k subs! You def deserve it. Hard work pays off. It's been awesome watching your channel's growth and being apart of this community you've built. Also, it'd be cool if Naughty Dogg would revive Jak and Daxter. So many of their last few games have been so serious. It'd be cool to see them take on a platformer again.The turn around time on development wouldn't be as long either.
Side note, I've found my Switch collection has doubled since I started watching.
I really miss the unserious humor from the Jak games! If they don't go back to Jak maybe a new mascot IP would be great from them.

Have you ever revealed what field you got your PhD in? It surprises me a bit to hear you talk about starting collecting in grad school since I equate grad school with being overworked and broke. Granted I was not a TA and I was overloading on classes so I might have brough that on myself lol.
Yes, I've mentioned in previous Q&As that it's in quantitative epidemiology. As for game collecting, I mentioned I couldn't buy very much at all until I graduated. However I managed to save up for the ALBW 3DS XL model when it came out and between then and when I graduated in early 2020 just picked up a handful of games.

I wish i had more time to play games but between my day job, taking care of my kids and wife, getting caught up on tv shows and maintaining my house does get in the way. There are a lot of games i have not got to play yet since im not a content creator who gets new games free especially final fantasy 7 rebirth. 3 of my TH-camrs i watch received FF 7 rebirth from square enix for free. I have not played Spider-Man 2, god of war Ragnarok, horizon forbidden west and other major aaa titles. I am just now watching this video in bwtween my breaks
Hi Emily, thanks for taking the time for the Q&A, I enjoyed it. Your list of “to be played” games was interesting, most of them are on mine too. The exception is GoW 2018 which I played last year and thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a great game and I think you’ll enjoy it - there’s a lot to like.
As for streaming lets plays, I understand your concerns but I think they may be unnecessary. You don’t have to be a great entertainer, some of my favourite streamers are very laid back and I actually find the more excitable ones off-putting. People will come for your personality and opinions and if you’re not so outgoing that’s fine. If you advertise it on this channel you’re almost guaranteed a friendly and supportive audience. Chat will carry you through any slow periods 😄. You’ll never know if you don’t try 🤷🏻♂️. My only problem is that I’m in the UK so I’d be unlikely to catch you live unless you’re suffering from insomnia 😄

Oh yeah I've had to downsize my Kpop collection greatly to just a few groups now. It was starting to get out of hand & taking up way too much of my hobby funds and space 😅

Big Yes to a Part 2 and another Big Yes to a Skies of Arcadia Remaster/Remake. Ended up playing the Dreamcast original years ago cause even then the GameCube version was getting pricey. Sadly sold my entire Dreamcast collection a while ago but would love to have another way to play it.
