    Simplismente brilhante!

    What makes this even more impressive is that it's againat an asian guy.
    I played low-stakes poker for several years. I was a winning player but nowhere near pro level.
    I was not well-versed on GTO strategy, so was forced to rely on live reads more often than I should have.
    Asians were always the hardest to read. By far.

    i really think about the mindgame after the overraise to 1,5 million. there is a lot to it : usually a huge raise like this means weakness, obv not for value and wanting the enemy to fold. but they have deeper thoughts to it and its more like : if i raise so huge, it usually looks like a bluff but kitai knows that i will try that to get max value and some sort of a hero call. its up to kitai to make the right decision but in this case he was so damn right.

    smart investors adjust to the message of changing markets and this is one of those cases where that is in play. It made a lot of sense. With 3 to 1 to call, its profitable even to be correct one third of the time and this is one of the situations where it can only be very strong or very weak and then you ask the question if this ace is good enough to be holdings of very weak.

  • @GrumpyGrebo

    There actually was a small tell at 1:27 if you can soulread (approximately 0.1% of the population have the ability to read miniscule emotional changes in facial expressions) but you are right in that Kitai didn't seem to pick it up. By the turn it did take something special to continue calling down Chen's raises, especially to pull the bluff.

    The guest commentator explains it well. Chen's river raise was so polarising that he (Chen) either had the straight or had a total bluff as if Chen had medium strength hands on that board he would just call with showdown value. His raise showed Kitai that he either had the nuts or had no showdown value therefore Kitai decided that he had more buffs in his range after taking that line than straights.

  • @jessemottl
    @jessemottl 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Polarized hand, he raises your bluff/blocking bet on the river with a straight or with air and he calls you with a pair.
    50% he was good with A high and he went for it. Great call.

    I really don't think this call is +ev in the long run. Theres just such a ridiculously thin amount of hand combinations that he actually beats here. His showdown value is just so poor that I don't think he is even ahead of many bluffs here. Although it looks sick and i rate kitai for having the balls to make the call I think that's being overly results based. He's just ahead here such a tiny % of the time.

    I think this call makes a lot of sense and its a very powerful call. There is no hand on that board that should raise the river with the exception of KQ, or perhaps an overly aggressive 8. An 8 is likely barreling the turn because he develops double gut shot outs and can get a 7, 5, or 9 to fold.. and there are few combination of developed spade outs. KQ also might barrel the turn again as it also develops outs. Chens likely holdings are, AIR (very high percentage). The only issue with the board is its very tough not to hit this board with at least something. The crux to the whole thing though is no hand other then KQ really wants to play this way.

  • @dochmbi
    @dochmbi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yeah, the raise on the river doesn't make much sense. The only hands that can raise for value are Q8 and KQ, and both seem like they would happily barrel turn with equity.

    • @govindreading
      @govindreading 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +dochmbi Actually, I think hands like 78,98 all could check back turn with showdown value. Now on the river, either of those hands would also raise. Great call from Kitai tho.

  • @cmares5858
    @cmares5858 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great call. My 2 cents are that the check on the turn was Chen's blunder because its really hard for him to rep an 8 at the river.
    1) Any made straight is betting for value on the turn (probably) ie 10-8 and 6-8, just because it looks like such a steal spot where his range could be potentially wide open. Remember, 3-bet pot and pre-flop 3bettor checked twice.
    2) I also believe an agro guy like Chen that he's betting any turned gutshot/opened ender, or 1 pair plus gutshot.

    • @JohnSmith-yd2cu
      @JohnSmith-yd2cu 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      What about 8-6? This is the sickest call I've ever seen simply because of board texture. It's kinda hard to put your opponent on nothing with this board!

  • @jessemottl
    @jessemottl 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think he just changed his mind during the river bettings.
    He probably thought his A high was beat by a pair so he wanted to bluff / blockng bet the river trying to induce a fold or a cheap showdwon.
    Once he got raised he figured his A high could actually be good since the opp range hand was completly polarized (either straight or air).
    Great play!

      all this hands u just wrote : pair 2..pair 4..pair 6 A5 A7 AJ AQ AK. are not bluffs, they have value. and how can he re-raise the river with those kind of hands? it has no sense. kitai's process thinking was perfect, he is a millionaire thx to this game, me and u are not. so we should give him credit for this great call, i mean he KNEW what to do, it wasnt a random call

    • @laurentmarchal2574
      @laurentmarchal2574 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      kariba25 Just think Hassad means that with the other hands (2,4, 5, 7...) chen has (or is likely) to call the 30% blocking bet, he only 3bets for value with an 8 or if he has no showdwn value at all, so Kitai's smart enough to know chen's either pure bluffing ore pure valuing, and this is something kitais may have learned by playing with chen before (not only the pure theory is improtant between players on the circuit who know each other well !)
      + so far kitai's ROI is better then the best online ROI's playing GTO poker (game theoritical optimum) so people have to admit he has some hand-reading and tells-spoting skills that make some plays "no variance" for him cause he just "knows" what oponents have.. in this hand chens starts to blink 2-3x faster when kitai tanks to hero call, + you see he announces "call" just after looking at chen, I guess he had spotted something else making him even more sure of his read ( The guy knows about ICM and the value of any lost chips so beleive me it's not a spewy lucky call )
      ;)

  • @DK_Son
    @DK_Son 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That is an amazing call!
    There are so many hands that can beat him. He must be getting some read off this guy from previous plays and is sensing not only weakness, but weakness where he mustn't even have an Ace high with a kicker better than a Q or K (any other kicker would hit a pair, straight or be lower than the board). Far OUT. Lost for words on this play.

    okay, yeah, that's pretty impressive. the info that made a lot of sense to me was "either he has an 8 or the Ace could be good".

  • @runeboye8691
    @runeboye8691 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know if it is a winning play, but I think that it's a pretty good spot to hero.
    Chen is really only representing an 8 on the river, but the problem with that is that he would not really check any 8's on the turn other than 78 and 98. All other 8's should betting the turn as that would be the standard play after picking up a gut shot on the turn after c-betting the flop.
    Getting such a good price, i think Chen has enough hands that Kitai beats, when he takes a line that doesn't really make any sense. The only problem is he could bluff with quite a big number of better hands like better A-high, a 5 or a 7.

  • @freddii89
    @freddii89 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is an amazing call, Chen could easily be bluffing with a 7 or a 9 in his hand, so to just call knowing he hasn't even hit is sick.
    Only thing that might make it easier is that if Kitai loses, he'd still have like 8 1/2 million chips versus 13 million, so its not like a make or break decision, but sick nonetheless.

  • @why-even-try-brotendo
    @why-even-try-brotendo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Raising simply doesn't make sense on this board unless he has the nut straight. This is what was going through Kitai's mind while he was considering the call. He was just trying to figure out if it was possible Chen had the nuts or not before settling on calling. Not saying I could do the same thing but I have called with Ace high on a similar board against a high action player in a cash game before. He was in shock for a half hour after I called him down.

  • @firevisuals3623
    @firevisuals3623 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Chen is a good enough player to raise bluff the river and assuming his range is polarized to the nuts or air then as long as he bluffs in this spot more than 22% of the time Kitai has to call.

    Exactly! Very unlikely that Chen would check any 8 on the turn in position. I'd like to think that I'd be able to see that as well if I were Kitai but even if I did I'd never have the balls to make the same call. KQ is a possibility. Also I think Chen could have played a hand like 54 or A5 pretty much the same way, trying to bluff the river thinking that Kitai is value betting a bigger pair or two pairs.

    Funny how everyone knows what gave it away when they know their cards. My experience has been just the opposite. I.e. more often than not, people tend to deliberate longer when deciding on a value bet. Supposed "tells" don't exist by themselves. Good players read well using all information. It's almost never one specific tell that "gives it away."

    a hero call is when you call a bet with a hand which is very weak and can most often only beat a cold bluff.

    chan easyly could have AK, AQ, A6-A2, 22-44 and if not bluffing KQ or Q8....with 1/4 odds this is a very thin call that sometimes gets him a split pot if you you ask me
