    I remember playing a 5/10$ game at the Aria last year when Garrett and his buddy sat down at around 3AM. It quickly escalated to a deep 10/20/40(/80) game with some insane hands, he was involved in all of them. At first I was convinced he was just some random coke head enjoying donating money on a weekend trip. I quit at around 1pm, having had 10k swings multiple times during the session, but greatly enjoying it as he was great fun at the table. Only the next day when I was sober again I realized he was doing some live pro hustling and I was one of his victims that night. :)

    • @emphatically
      @emphatically 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AlbanianRSBy playing at stakes lower than your skill level. It’s like Efren Reyes before he got famous in the US. He’d go to poolrooms and lose a few lower stakes sets on purpose, then when his opponent got cocky and raised the stakes Efren would obliterate them. Hustling is even easier in poker because there’s no way to judge someone’s knowledge of the game based on their appearance or hands that don’t go to showdown.

    I don't think Garrett makes that call against a rec player. He knows Fee is good so and is relatively balanced vs the field in spots like these so will have a good proportion of bluffs/triple barrels. I would prefer a slightly more aggressive line pre flop, perhaps a 3 bet instead of a flat call, would induce more doubt into Garretts mind about the strength of his hand.

      I was watching this game when he played against Kym who plays next to no hands. Kym was playing extremely tight. Garrett had Ace and a low kicker, Kym Ace Jack. Flop came AA and some card. He kept betting against this extremely tight player with Ace and what had to be the worst kicker. It looked horrible and made me think he is a terrible player. I have no idea how he got his stack size so big after playing so bad.

    Why x/r at 0:59? Villain having better value hands (AK, AA, KK, 99, 33) is reasonably likely due to preflop 3-bet and will just call and have you dominated, and your Ks blocks some of the most likely worse drawing hands (AKs) that would call. I feel like our value x/r range should mostly consist of sets and overpairs (AA) here that get called by top pair and flush draws for balance. MAYBE mixing 5-10% x/r here just to get called by other flush draws like spade connectors makes sense

    Great calls, but if you look at the action it is pretty obvious. pockets 9s through Aces all mostly 3 bet preflop. Any set that hit the flop would most likely check the 495 rainbow flop (which a set of nines is already unlikely because of the flat preflop). The 4 on the turn blocks one of those possible sets that aren't even likely anyway. 3 hits the river which opens up 76 as a possible hand but garrett blocks a 6. Once again great call, but terrible spot for a bluff in my opinion.

    to all the commenters who say he's a station or that you want see laydowns: poker isnt about laydowns.
    and this game is nothing like anything you ever played in (i presume for most of you). they play several levels above us.
    a lot goes into a decision (his opponents body language, which hands/combos he blocks, parts of the range he could be ahead vs range he is behind, if the line of his oppoent makes sense etc. etc.)

    I don’t like how someone said, “Hey commentator shut up!” As if you guys ever disrespect Garrett or don’t appreciate the good moments he has. You guys do great commentary and somebody really jumped the gun with disrespect.

    I don't think the KQ hand was a "sick spot" or anything close to a "hero call," let alone "insane." Standard.

    Just don’t try to bluff the guy with the big stack. You can beat him when you wait for a hand or two. You only need to beat him once or twice for a good profit lmao

      Scratching his head?

    • @phdtobe
      @phdtobe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Zahayko Yes. For some reason when we initially experience fear in social settings, the nerve endings in the face often seem more sensitive, or perhaps the brain is tricking the body into feeling so in order for someone to raise/bring a hand up to potentially protect the face/neck. Anthropologists have also observed when studying other primates, such as chimps and bonobos.
      The better live players train themselve to ignore those impluses, but even they can’t always control that impulse. They may, however, recognize it happening and make a feigning gesture to mask when it happens.

    How is that first hand a "Hero Call?" Top pair with a blocker to the flush. The opponent is bent forward ...touching his face. Demonstrating weakness.

    I don’t know anything about Michael, but if he’s going to play this high stakes, he needs to learn how to shut down all visual reactions. His uncomfortable demeanor totally gave him away.

    Fee hand with JTo it was LITERALLY the eye roll. If he saw it, that was the reason why he called.

    I feel like a lot of players really don't realize how key body language is in live games.
    First hand: guy itches his forehead on flop bet, then he squirms when Garrett is talking to him.
    Second hand, guy rolls his eyes and does a bit of a disgusted exhale as Garrett calls flop.
    That being said, making a call with A high for $7,600 is never something I could do, and can't take anything away from Garrett. Absolute wizard of cards.
