Played it for the first time on switch and can admit its a hidden gem. Its a must play. Nice review.

I didn't know it at the time but I recently realized that this may be my favorite game of all time. I've purchased it like four times and I replay it multiple times every time.

Same. Like Monster Hunter if Monster Hunter were more of a fantasy or D&D game.
It's so rare to come across a reviewer that actually talks about the game instead of trying to turn it into some tired, meme-fillled joke. Really well done and informative.
Edit: Have you tried Kingdoms of Amalur? It's an older game by this point, but a similar game to this and judging from your review I think you'd enjoy it.

@No Name just so you know they are remastering Kingdoms of Amalaur for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, aswell as the next gen consoles. I'm praying us Nintendo Switch console players get a port of this famous classic aswell. It was overshadowed by Skyrim and other fantasy RPGs back in 2012.

I'm watching this review, and thinking: Hmm, high fantasy RPG. Lots of exploration. Solid controls. Graphics are very pleasing to look at. Gathering, crafting, great. Comparisons to Skyrim, that's really high praise. In fact, she seems to very positive about the game as a whole; maybe I should add this one to my list of-

I'm so grateful for your reviews! I found this game on the switch store the other day and was super intrigued by the character customisation and being able to customise my companion as well. I also had vague childhood memories of seeing this game in stores when I was younger, always wondering what it was about because I loved dragons. So I was debating all night, finally, after ages since I last watched you, I accidentally went down a Rune Factory 5 rabbit hole on youtube and you popped up in my recommendations. Thank you so much! About to head out and add an eshop card to my groceries today, haha.

I tried the demo for Dragon's Dogma back on PS3 when I was trying to find something else similar to Dark Souls. I was instantly hooked by how fun the game was and bought it. If you have never played it and are thinking about it now since you have a Switch, give it a try for sure. It is definitely an awesome game. Being able to swap and trade companions online with other players is a pretty cool feature. I still think the best part of the game and combat is being able to climb on the larger enemies and hold on for dear life while trying to kill them.
This is easily the greatest game I have ever played in my entire life 🤯🤯. I've played this game 3 times and it's really the only game I've been playing for the past 2 months. I think I need rehab because this game is ruining my life 😢

I beat on the Xbox 360 then the ps3 Dark Arisen came out. I had already put 100s of hours into the Xbox so I got burnt out ... Now I'm playing the Switch version amd Holy crap handheld makes the game way more addictive...
I jump off and on cause ya just put the system to sleep and boom right back into action at your own pace .

I have been eyeballing this game for a while now, it looked so cool but I thought for that price it was too good to be true. But I knew when I saw the title of this video that I was going to buy it. Very helpful review, as always. I enjoy seeing how much joy a game gives you, it makes the games you review look so appealing. I want to throw explosives at NPCs too! I mean, that seems like fun but I will not do that because I am a good person. (Lying, I'm totally doing that, shh!)
It's really good Chris, I've also put about 35-40hrs in definitely a buy if you like skyrim but with better fight mechanics

My Switch is now an RPG console, had this on PS3 but never played that long and then sold the console, so now I get to go back.

Dragon's Dogma was right up my alley when it originally came out. I'm glad it's still going strong and finding new fans. The battle mechanics are SO fun and the range of customization is -- I was gonna say icing on the cake, but for me, that's the dang cake. The battle mechanics and grappling monster fights and big intimidating world are the icing. And the lady general of the French-accented army is the cerise on top.

Lol hey you can buy a special pack with rift crystals from the encampment near the beginning of the game to customize your character anytime you want without restarting

The game is an absolute masterpiece. MASTERPIECE. I played the shit out of this game back on the 360, and then bought it on PC when it was ported. In the top 3 best games I've ever played.

For 100k(or was it 10k?) rift crystals, you can buy an item from the guy next to the Riftstone in the walled camp near the starting town(its name escapes me all of the sudden) that allows you to customize your character and pawn once. After you beat the game once (though just activating Hard Mode should work as long as you get far enough) you can buy an upgraded version with unlimited uses that lasts through any subsequent new game+.

Had a switch for over a year now and Dragons Dogma n barely played it tried 2 times but once I get to big city I stop then come back n am sooo lost! But maybe I’ll try again! Thank you!! For the video! Watched it twice and that’s why I keep trying it n never sold it yet!

This was actually a detailed great review...This is my all time favorite game... surprised you didn't mention Bitter Black Isle which is an awesome place but yeah excellent game i did like how you mentioned the freedom this game gives you, i think that ALONG with its fighting system are the key sells to this great game.

Well she did say she wasn’t finished and I didn’t even see footage from the everfall. At the time of this video she still easily had another 60-80 hours of content left.

You can customize your pawn and your main hero in Gran Soren. There is no need to restart the whole game.

This seems like an excellent choice for the Switch Lite. Great review. One question, is the saving like Skyrim? You can save anywhere and come back to the same spot?
Yes if you bring up the menu you can 'Save & Quit'

I'm surprised you said Skyrim was very character movement responsive. I honestly feel like Skyrim is one of the clunkiest games I've ever played. Biggest reason why I couldn't get into Skyrim was because of how slow it felt. But I recently bought it for the switch so I'm going to try and give it another go.

@@ircha Yeah I am obsessed with Witcher 3 on the Switch. Tried Witcher 2 on 360 & couldn't get with it because it was as you said very clunky. Witcher 3 was super clunky as well but for me it fit the gaming style / in game combat style. Plus it was such an in depth experience and I loved how every decision matters. For Skyrim the graphics kind of through me off the last time I gave it a try on other systems and I wasn't a fan of the 1st person view. I really want to give it another shot on my Switch since I've heard so many stories of it from you & others who have played it. I loved Oblivion so I'm surprised I never got pulled into Skyrim. Then again Oblivion I played on PC, Skyrim I played on console and it does seem to be more of a PC type game.
@@ircha But I'm a HUGE FAN of games like WoW, EQ2 & Dragon Age Origins. Until we get a Dragon Age Origins port for Nintendo Switch I'm stuck trying to find an itch for my Fantasy RPG cravings while my PC is down. As of right now I'm going to give Divinity Original Sins 2, Dragons Dogma, & Skyrim a try. I'm just hoping I can get past Skyrims clunky gameplay & hopefully I can understand the way Skyrims class system works, that is another issue I had with the game in the past, so many options to choose from with the tree, it wasn't simplified enough in game for me lol

Ice arrow for sniping and single target damage
Vortex arrow for crowd control
Use immolation/Ice aoe with vortex arrows and you will kill group of enemies as if they are nothing.
Immolation, magick rebalancer and hundred kisses are very fun skills as well for magick archer

I actually had a love/hate relationship with this game on my first run. It ran poorly on 360 and I just couldn't get into it. I got to the "postgame" before I just ragequit.
I recently picked it up again(on PC I didnt know the Switch version was coming out), and knowing ahead what was ahead as well as cranking it up to hardmode really helped for me.
The game felt somewhat janky, but I think it's better than the sum of its part. Ended up completing it yesterday (real ending and all), with an Assassin. Tried out Sorcerer as well, which was fun.
Enjoyed my time with this. Will probably return for NG+ at some point. I hope they make a sequel.
Managed to pick this hiddem gem up for 5 bucks on sale digitally and this review made me decide to do it...
