The critically acclaimed action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen combines exhilarating and deep combat with the freedom to explore a huge open world. Enter the high-fantasy setting of Gransys, a land where fabled monsters such as dragons roam.
Choose between three different starter classes known as jobs, which you can further develop for a total of nine unique classes. Use the deep combat system to wield devastating skills and magics to take on fabled monsters or climb onto them for an up close and personal attack!
As the Arisen, you are joined on your adventure by followers known as Pawns. This unique gameplay system not only allows you to be joined by up to three of these AI companions and take advantage of their assistance during combat and exploration, but to exchange Pawns with friends and other players online. Each Pawn's appearance can be designed with a detailed character creation system, letting you share your customised companions with the community.
All previously released paid DLC is included, making this the ultimate version of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen.

For those who have not played this game, let me detail the moment I fell in love with it:
There I was, on the hunt for an infamous griffon who had been abducting unwary townsfolk traveling by the main road. The local guards hired me to dispose of the beast, so I prepared myself for the hunt and departed the city.
I tracked it to a large seaside cliff where I found the beasts nest. Suddenly the creature landed shaking the ground beneath me. Massive and imposing, I decided to stay back and notch some arrows Into the beasts hide. It didn't seem to be too effective, but I kept at it while my party members carried out their assault.
Eventually I could see the beast growing agitated with our attempts to bring it down. I began to worry that the beast might fly off to recover its wounds and leave me with an unsuccessful hunt, and no coin in my pocket.
In a last ditch effort I leaped on the griffins back, just as it took to the sky!! Suddently I'm clinging to the back of the beast, hundreds of feet in the air, holding on for dear life. My party member then instinctively casted a spell; enchanting my sword with fire!!
My opportunity was here! I took my chance and began slashing the beast with steel and flame. Suddently I was plummeting to the ground atop the massive, flaming creature. Just before impact I lept off the beasts back, rolled to safety and watched the Griffin crashed into the earth.
My prey was slayed, my hunt successful, and one of my favorite games of all time was found. Thanks for reading so far, have a great day (;

@@DoritosResidue Same here, the style caught my eye when it was announced and I hadn't heard of it before. Everything I read was basically saying it was criminally underrated, and so far I tend to agree with that as there's no good reason this game shouldn't be well known. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am!
The moment i fell in love with this game was when i was wandering at night seeking refuge in a forest after being chased by a hoard of undead. After entering the forest and checking my surroundings everything looked clear until i saw shining eyes in the darkness and before i knew it i was jumped by a chimera and ripped to shreds. Good times

Combat in this game is unrivalled in the rpg genre imo

@@infernaltim there are a lot of complex combat and leveling systems/ mechanics not explained in game. Might be worth looking up unless youd prefer to figure it out as you go. Cheers

I thought Skyrim was really impressive on switch and I was shocked at the texture quality as well, it's like a mix between the original and the remaster

I bought it on X360 when it first came out, but never really got into it. I think it starts a little bit slow and can be confusing. I picked it up the day it came out on Switch and I cannot put it down! So addicting and a ton of fun. Underrated game for sure.

It's like dragon age but sacrifices tactical combat for a more exhilarating action combat system with the climbing mechanic and such. Also characters aren't as developed, the worldbuilding isn't as insane and the story is a bit bland although I found it to resonate with me a lot. The map isn't massive but it is really good, a lot of memorable sceneries and landmarks although not as colorful as dragon age, more in between da and dark souls. The class system is absolutely fantastic. You can go with the class you chose in the beginning or transition into an advanced class like fighter to warrior, ditching the shield for a zweihander bastard sword or merging with the strider class to become an assassin or with the mage class to be a mystic knight with a huge shield. The game excels at boss fights. It's pretty effin dope.

One of my favorite games of all time, but I really wish they spent more time tailoring it to this more powerful console. Not that the pop in detracts from gameplay, but it's kinda ridiculous

Honestly, the great character customization/online pawn system and brilliant gameplay has kept me coming back for the last like 6 years. I would say this has the best character creation/customization of any console rpg. Hands down.

@Anonymous I haven't actually played it in handheld yet. It's good docked, but it's not going to set the world on fire or anything. I'll check and give you my thoughts.
@Anonymous Beat me to it, I was literally writing a reply but my stepdaughter interrupted me. Lol But yeah, it looks good in handheld. Obviously the resolution is less to fit the screen, otherwise it runs smooth and I don't notice any real difference from docked.

*Character Creation tips!*
1.)Height and weight affect certain things like carry weight.
2.)You can make your character have two different eye colors at once if you adjust them when you pick the eyes and not during color adjustment near the end.
3.)If you want to hear how they sound speaking; zoom into the face then view expressions until they speak. The voice they use will be whatever voice selection you're currently on even if you haven't selected yet.
Some great points I didn't mention in the review. So much to cover in the game I could have made it a 25 min review but had to cut a lot out. Appreciate it.
are you saying we should make our character big to carry more.. are there cons to being big?
@@boogie5 You don't have to make a big character. I usually make my character how I want, then I hire pawns bigger than me to act as pack mules. My current character is actually a little kid.
@@boogie5 There is actually one very specific section of the game that benefits small people. You might stumble across it at some point if you play.
Also, I believe the less you weigh, the faster you run as well (so lighter characters like women run faster)

Skyrim-esque western fantasy open world rpg x Monster Hunter-esque combat and customization with mixing and matching skills among classes.
What 'coming apocalypse'? If the arisen left the dragon be, it'd just find another person to make arisen and wait for them to challenge it.
I am currently playing the switch version and it is pretty good. The loading times aren’t that bad and it runs good enough

@@xhere14 There's two forms of inventory the first form is where you can use curatives and tools like oil, the second is equipment which is in the pause menu on the side next to the map where you can change and veiw your equipment.

Melee. They aren't that good/ precise with a bow
Either a warrior or a strider. In fact i would get one of each depending on the class you create.
Imo a tank one to distract enemies so they don't get attacked while trying to cast their spells

it was a day 1 buy for me, the only thing stopping me from playing it is because im playing my time at portia which depsite its flaws on the switch, is extremely fun and addictive. also i just realised that james, juan and jordan names all start with J, i mean how cool is that =D

@@riguerraluisfernandoh.6415 You get 2x XP for hard mode, but it really is A LOT harder, and in a good way too. Not merely making enemies bullet sponges like in fallout or skyrim. You just die fast and enemies have more abilities/skills, but, the game has a lot of skill elements for an RPG. It really is an ARPG. Plenty of skills to let you dodge all kinds of enemy attacks with perfect timing. The spells look gorgeous too.

I played this game and my honest opinion is this game is better than Skyrim, simply bcuz our characther react when he climb rock and some surface, the combat is better too
skyrim mybe rich with quest and lore but when you want to climb some hills you atcually have to jump jump and jump, exploration is really akward in Skyrim. This game do better, it deserved the attention!

When time change from day to night you can really feels the evening vibes and when the light slowly goes to dark, you have the feeling to return to your home or go someplace to rest. It was well done!

They say arisen multiple times when you start the game. How are you all still pronouncing it wrong? You either gotta actually play it or stop skipping dialog cause just the way you pronounced the title makes me think you did/didn't do one or the other..
Who the hell cares. Out of everything this video has to offer, you choose to hone in on the most irrelevant aspect of the entire thing. That's really, really sad.
@@narsheguard6417 yup its hard to trust someone's word about a game when they don't say the title right. The games wonderful but I'm not one to trust someone's words about a game if they don't pronounce it correct. I'm not to into grammar but that was as cringy as someone saying skirim instead of skyrim sorry I hurt your feelings with my words but as much as the game pronounced it he should have known well if he played it as he states.

Fighting looks repetitive. How much character/equipment customization is there?
There is plenty buddy, something for everyone.
The combat in this game is unrivalled in the rpg genre. Dont be fooled. Something like skyrim has woefully boring combat in comparison
The fighting is the best part of this game. Really, it only seems repetitive because Juan is playing the beginning of the game and has only access to a few basic skills - plus the fighter class he's using is in my opinion very boring to play (Strider/Assassin on the other hand offers more variety). Later on as you level up your classes and unlock their skills it'll get really crazy (depending on your setup).

The combat is awesome. Imagine skyrim with monster hunter style combat. Lots of different abilities to learn aswell and the combos themselves can be upgraded/ changes. Havent tried mage yet but I've always been more of a sword and shield guy
