    Great video. You remember in Star Wars: A New Hope when Luke turns off his targeting computer and pulls off that perfect shot to blow up the Death Star? That’s the feeling I get when I shoot accurately with my irons out to extended ranges.

    I agree. Shooting irons is alot like driving a manual; neither is really necessary these days, but both make you better in their respective fields. If you want to call yourself a rifleman, being proficient with irons is a must because it requires a mastery of the fundamentals that allow proficiency with every other type of sighting system. You can be a good shot with optics but suck with irons, in which case, you probably aren't really that good with a rifle. You're leaning on technology to pick up the slack, like doing math with a calculator. If you're good with irons, you're probably pretty solid on everything else because you have a solid understanding of fundamental concepts and therefore, don't need the technology, it just makes things easier.
    Don't mind the haters. They are just bitter and resentful because seeing anyone else effectively train a skillset reminds them that all they do is LARP and they need a $600 holographic sight to hit at 7 yards while pretending to be a Navy SEAL.
    Lastly, I dig the A4. The M16 is a total chad and has its own vibes. A4 supremacy is real. The M16A4 would still be one of the first rifles I would grab if I had to run towards gunfire.

    Absolutely aesthetic with the M16.

  • @DoubleWhammy

    But the high speed flat range larporators told me if I use iron sights I'll get instantly gibbed by someone who spent more money on their optics setup in whatever scenario it is they've cooked up to try and sell me this weeks sponsored optic.

    Great video. I agree that iron sights are the STARTING POINT for any new shooter. Learning BRM specifically outlines sight picture and sight alignment for a large portion of the block of instruction and combines that with breathing and trigger control. Great video!

    Very underrated channel.
    I have an A1 with triangle hand guards that I inherited from my late grandfather. If I where go for another M16 build, would deff for an A4
    Look forward to see the channel grow

      Thank you! An A1 sounds awesome. I bet there is added value/appeal since it’s passed down. 100% recommend the A4. I actually want an A2 in the future lol

    Ive never cared much for shooting with scopes until I bought an Acog 4x32. Its the only optical sight that has an Eye box that I can get in an instant. Never cared much for red dots either. Grew up shooting Irons and thats what I prefer.

    I absolutely love using iron sights. Ironically all my guns they aren’t pistols don’t have iron sights (they have optics or scopes). Only my shotgun had super nice irons sights and the front sight happened to break off /:

    James I’m loving your videos on the A4. About 3 years ago I did a similar build using parts from Aero. (I wanted the same BCM upper you have but they where sold out at the time) your videos are making me buy an ACOG for my “Clone” these rifles are a dream to shoot and are so much nicer than people give them credit for in a world of 14.5-16 inch rifles the good old 20 inch M16 is Home ❤

    Every once in a while i remove my QD red dot/magnifier and flip up the MBUS Pro LR. I can go out to 300yds but past that I can't see the target, it's smaller than my front sight!
    That's on the 200m setting, if I adjust to the 300m setting my zero is way off, almost like you're supposed to use a 6 o'clock hold on targets at that distance and further.

    With a 36 yard zero on an A2/A4 you fucking own anything out to 300. No holds, no thinking. Just line up your sights and squeeze. As long as the wind ain’t to bad that is.😉

    I continued to have arguments with iron sight supremacists that think optics of any type are stupid on the fact that they can break or run out of batteries

  • @gordonstevens9074
    @gordonstevens9074 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    prisms are far more durable than irons due to the monolithic optic housing, especially those folding rears - the amount of ironsight posts I've seen bent from being dropped lol

    I want to get an ACOG for my Colt AR15A4, and I'm saving for one. I have a Windham Weaponry M16A4 clone also, and I got a Primary Arms SLX Nova 1-6 for that one in the meantime. I love the carry handle sights, but my vision sucks and the A4 looks awesome with the LPVO as well.

    • @jamesshoots
      @jamesshoots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you like the SLX? I’m debating between that (4-16x44) and the GLX (3-18x50). Going for an MPVO on the M4A1 clone. I know the SLX is the entry level, but I’ve read that the glass clarity is pretty darn similar to the GLX’s.

      @jamesshoots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that’s a shame if ranges :/ I usually can find a spot at my outdoor range, but there are only a handful that really let you go beyond 100-200yds, and those are usually taken as well.

    In 2018, I took a Colt 6920 with a detachable carry handle to a rifle only match. There were 86 competitors, the vast majority had red dots or magnified optics. I placed 33 overall and 7th out of 21 in my class/division. That was my first shooting competition ever.
    The longest shot of the day was approx 350, which I hit two for two for bonus points.
    Irons are still viable. And a ton of fun.
    Sweet rifle, by the way! Your setups are nice!

    great vidya there kid. good sound advice. like driving a stick. everyone should know how. but after you get good at fundamentals, ya better get an optic. they are faster, and let you observe things farther. pro tip.....the mil does not use irons anymore. if yer only gonna shoot at the one way range, ignore what i said. if you are defending yerself or loved ones from the haitian cannibals inbound, you better get fast with and optic. btw.........love yer rifle. great vidya. carry on.

    no, iron sights are gay as truck nuts... and with proper training you will not need them.
