My experience as a jobseeker, especially in the past 2 years and a half, is that recruiters think that their time is extremely valuable and yours is not, e.g.: they reach out to you, you respond promptly and they simply disappear. Besides that, I don't understand why they never give you feedback and you specialists usually say that it is bad to ask for feedback. I mean, we all want to improve in everything in life, not only in professional life, so why can't you let me know what went wrong so I could improve in the next ones???

I have had many interviews that I objectively thought went really well, the vibe was great, I was well prepared and I left the interview feeling really good, interviews that checked off most if not all the boxes you shared. Interviews where the hiring manager/interviewer in some cases tells me they liked me so much that they were going to set up follow-up calls with their team (exactly what you said) and even named specifically who I would be meeting. I feel great and eagerly anticipate and prepare for “next steps.” Then I get email a week or so later saying they did not feel I was strong candidate or they wanted to go “in a different direction.” Which makes no sense as it did not line up with the conversation/interview. I’ve learned to keep looking no matter how good the interview goes.

I had a series of interviews recently. I totally crashed and burned on the first round. I was so nervous , I think I had a mini panic attack…haha. I don’t interview much and this was/is my dream company.
During the first half of the first round I was horrible but I was able to turn it around and went over the 45 min. Second and third rounds were pretty smooth.

I had the final interview with the head of support that went well in my opinion, and they told me the recruiter will get in touch with me in three days, and they all have gone silent since. You got the job is there only good sign. That’s it!
I interviewed with a company that I thought was a great fit for me and my prayers were being answered. I interviewed with the recruiter, hiring manager and physician. I hit all the positive signs. The physician even gave me great feedback! Do you know how hard it is to answer clinical questions with a physician? She told me I did great and I should hear something with in a week! The recruiter sounded excited in her emails. My last step with was a “ meet and greet”. I was told by the hiring manager to see if this job was a great fit for me... A bunch of BS! It’s an interview! The employees at the office spoke to me as if I was going to be hired. Until She mentioned that “You are the last one”. Sighs... I send my thank you letter the night and morning... 🦗 🦗🦗 Never heard back! I know for a fact those employees played a demise in getting this job!

The employees even told me when I arrived that they really liked me (Hiring manager, Physician and Recruiter). She stated that she liked me too! Only thing I can think of it’s the employees feed back to the hiring manager or the client in between.I think it’s unprofessional for employers to act like they are going to hire you and then ghost you. Candidates listen up! There are no positive signs, the only one...you are hired! 🎯

Later at the end of the interview, he explained to me in detail about the team and what work they do. He closed the interview by asking me if I have any considerations for this role and when I am available to join. So I am kind of confused in terms of how the interview went. Hi Ben! I like your video by the way. On the contrary, what happens to me is the opposite. All that you mentioned were correct at first. I believe all these signs of interest before until I got some interviews that changes everything. For instance, the interviewer were happy, took you so long to be interrogated, asked you about your expected salary, toured you at the place., and asked if I have questions in mind. After a day or 2, the interviewer messaged me that they will not continue with my application. It was so depressing and frustrating back then. You will never expect this to happen after this interviewer showed signs of interest. I can probably say it all depends on the hiring manager and HR, and do not expect much from the signs. By the way, I am not trying to be pessimistic about this. I just wanted to share my experiences that even they show signs, do not expect from it because there might also other factors that they might not consider with your application. I rather keep on applying other jobs until the offer letter comes.

Ben this is SPOT on sir. I just interviewed with a company that hired me in a three step interview process. First was a web interview with the recruiter that found me. Second was a web interview with the VP and program director of the division I’d be working if they were interested followed by a in person interview with the program director and two new people who would be my direct reporting supervisors if hired. And I’d say about 8 out of 10 of these things happened. The interview was first your standard interview questions, then got light hearted and off topic for a bit about football and what my interests were outside of work. They are looking to see if you are a “culture fit” for the company. The program director then asked something you may not have touched on. He concluded the interview talking about how long it generally takes to get an offer letter and inquired “do you have any other offers on the table?” That’s a CLEAR sign they like you bc they want to make sure they either have or don’t have competitors for you. I asked for 95k annual. They answered 2 days later with an offer letter for well over my ask and into 6 figures. Great video my guy.

Just from my experience in job hunting, if the recruiter wants you to take a drug screening test, you can pretty much assume you've gotten the job. . . providing you pass it! Because those tests cost a lot of money, they only make candidates take them if they intend to hire them. Consider that the "final hurdle" in the hiring process. WORD OF WARNING: Don't eat a poppy-seeded bagel before the drug test because it will show up as an opioid on the test. It has happened to me and others.

Also, the manager I'd be working with cracked a joke in reaction to a situation I gave, which I'm not sure is a good indication. While asking inquiries, they mentioned that a relocation allowance is included in the package, something I had never heard of before, as well as the part concerning career progression. In addition, the manager attempted to relate to a topic he posed and elaborated on it. I did receive replies to my thank you note within minutes from the recruiter and the following day of the interview from one of the hiring team members. I'm not sure if that's typical or if I should view that as a good indicator?

If a recruiter asks you about compensation and are you interviewing anywhere else it doesn't mean nothing as recruiters just want to find out how fast to move you in the process so they don't potentially miss out on you and compensation is to check that they can afford you. But if anyone else other than the recruiter asks u about whether you are interviewing elsewhere or how much compensation you are expecting then that is a good sign

I had my initial interview for talent acquisition on Monday with the senior TA team, they seemed really impressed and an hour after my interview they set up a meeting with the TA team that would be my peers. I just interviewed with a small company for a manufacturing engineer co-op position. They had a senior manufacturing engineer and someone who is in my role. The interview and tour lasted about 5 minutes more than the expected 90. The senior engineer, who I’d estimate is around 25, did a lot more talking. He had highlighted in several sections in my resume, and asked questions about everything in my experience and interest sections. He seemed to show approval and interest of my answers to these questions by nodding and complimenting at least one aspect of not only my answers, but also the content of the experience section.
I walked out confident, but then I watched your video on signs that you didn’t get the job. After a Q&A from me at the end of the interview, he finished with “We’ll be in touch”. You labeled that as a red flag, but I felt really good about how he made connections between my résumé’s experience section and the job.
Any tips for my remaining 18 interviews (some virtual and phone calls) over the next two weeks?

I felt it was one of my best. I already knew next steps because HR mentioned them during the phone screen. When I asked the Hiring Manager for next steps, said HR handles all of that. Hi Ben. Should you ask the recruiter/hiring manager if and how many other candidates they are interviewing? Should you ask this before the interview, so you can decide whether attending the interview is worth the effort?

Hi Ben, thanks a lot for your videos. What would you say if they're keeping the company name unsaid. I've passed a first interview with the external recruiter, 4 hours of psychological and technical tests, and yesterday I had one interview with the regional managers and another one with another external recruiter. If I pass yesterday's interviews I will meet the CEO and know the company name. I was wondering if they're going to fire the current person working in the position, and they don't want to let them know about it, but want to keep the business going. The recruiter has been very consistent, professional, respectful, last interviews went exceptionally well, they tried to sell me the position and company culture, but not knowing the company is weird. Have you heard something like this? Has anybody had this kind of experience?
Thanks in advance for your insights!

    • @BenTalksTalent

All the time actually. Now, I will say, normally it’s more upfront. They have been keeping the name confidential for a unusually long time but I use to always keep it confidential up front as an external recruiter.

@@BenTalksTalent thank you very much for your extremely fast response. I'm glad to know that is not unusual. I have to say that I actually liked the fact that they're being so cautious with the recruiting process, that may mean they like to plan things, they're not improvising and hiring just because of a hunch. I'm gonna give it all next week with CEO, I'm pretty sure they're gonna call me, at least according to your videos 🤭
Once again thank you for your kindness!!!!

I'm a little stuck with this one, I went for an interview yesterday at a great company and there were a lot of good signs. It overran by quite some distance and they seemed really interested in me and went into a great detail about their work and how they operate as a company. At the end they said they would fill out a form and push through a "process" which "usually takes about a week". They told me I should get an email by early next week from the recruitment manager and if I had not heard from him to chase him up for an answer. It's like they didn't push the next steps on me but at the same time, they didn't just want to cut it off there and then. Not sure what to make of that?

@@BenTalksTalent Thank you for your reply, so I got a call back and they said it was very positive and would like to move forward. I had my interview Wednesday with the GM of a company. He seemed super busy. He even walked out twice to take a phone call. But it was toward the end of our interview. He seemed engaged, but He seemed pressed with other issues. The first two rounds were great. But this last one left me nervous. I was told I have a possible next round of interviews with HR. It was worded “I may or may not have another interview”.

Great question! I am actually going to do a series on panel interviews coming up here. But a quick one is overall group engagement, when everyone is participating enthusiastically that’s a good one. Some of the same rules from the video apply as well!

Hey Ben, the hiring manager said "I have other candidates I need to interview, you were my first and we had over 100 people apply but we will get back to you candidates at the end of the month. I'll def reach out if I come up with more questions" Is that a good sign or a bad sign?

I just had my interview done and I want to ask if I did right or wrong, 1. It went without any flaws, I mean the time was well maintained and I could reply their all the questions. 2. They appreciated my passion and knowledge at the end of the session. 3. In the technical part of the interview I could ace them with my technical knowledge. 4. They said I was the first one they are interviewing and they would need a week for the next step. But they said to me that HR will come back to me by next week.
I am not quite sure whether they would take this to the next stage or not

What does it mean, my recruiter said feedback is still out, and I'm the only candidate he has updated me 2x "waiting on hiring manager to give feedback," like he'd have an inkling if it was a pass, I assume I would already have received a canned email. IDK hopeful! It is a FAANG btw :)
