- I had been looking at all the people trading Unimat lathe stuff. There were so many that I decided to pick one up and try and fit my motors to it.
The New High Performance 550W servo motor fit easy enough.

Hi, I did something very similar and lots of mod's on our Unimat..
The only problem is that the lathe is not rigid and when you start turning and taking a heavy cut it start to chatter.
The motor is strong and can give you sufficient power but the lathe is not.
Upgrading the motor only fixes low power and the problems being under powered causes.
More often than not improper cutter design and placement causes chatter.
However this motor is way more than the lathe frame can manage. I would use a 1/2 hp instead of a 3/4 hp if I had one.
Hey do you sell a package kit for emco unimat 3
