    Merry Christmas Brian and Camera Crew, have thoroughly enjoyed your videos over the years and this past year has seen you go from strength to strength. Unlike a certain other channel you dont try and ram these products down our throats but leave us to decide so respect for that, I think you have exactly the right approach.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome JJ S - Glad you're enjoying our content, and we do respect that everyone might not be crazy about every plane, even if it is a GOOD plane ;) This has always been a gripe of mine with some of our piers...although I get where they're coming from, it's just a bit too gimmicky for my taste.
      Merry Christmas to your JJ S!

    I figured this would be a good place to find out about that yellow wire coming from the ESC. Well, an hour and forty seven minutes later, I find out that you don't know what that wire is either. So I guess I can proceed with the build. Thanks for the videos, even if you don't know what the fourth wire is!

    This thing is a rocket on 4s!! Same as the F-16. You could go to the moon 😂 just to be safe I put a 40a esc as I also did with the latter. Running a 1500mh 100c 4s. Had to cut a slot into the canopy to fit. Both no gyro.. What's crazy is I too have my expo at 35. But my rates at 65. (Due to no gyro) Elevator at 75/25 and it's rock solid.
    Love your video's BP! Definitely the best RC channel on TH-cam! Hope yall have a great Christmas!!

    Is it something about the size of the airframe that makes them release all these smaller jets without rudders? I'd thought it was the cost of servos, but then things like this, the E-flite F-15 and upcoming Tomcat are in a higher price range already, and the A-10 has great rudders at a similar size. I'm definitely not a good enough pilot to get a good landing path without! They look so cool, but flying on a short and bumpy asphalt strip I know I'll miss.

    • @trashboat8530
      @trashboat8530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point. Literally the only reason i wouldnt get this bird

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rudders are not AS necessary, and some of these smaller planes get the CG flubbed up by the additional weight, and other times some of these planes' rudders will ROLL a plane...BUT I think it's a cost to benefit ratio. I love rudders, even when they're small. Also, when you're flying fast, the stabs are still helping some...but you can't knife edge, and can't keep in high alpha unless you're EXACTLY straight into the wind. I agree I want them, but this is still a sweet plane, and not insurmountable to install some 3.5g servos yourself if you want to make it a $300 plane, instead of a ~$250 plane.

    eCalc and Mathematica have micro-applications: which can calculate the CG or moment of inertia "engineer jargon". My engineer peers there is a small fee for access to these apps. A tail heavy aircraft is less likely to stall than the popular nose forward heavy feel preferred by most rc pilots. Planes should be mechanically square not requiring trim. I have never had a stalled aircraft full scale or rc models. Cheers, Brad 😉

    Hi Brian and Camera crew, Merry Christmas!! In your video around 54 minutes you read the warning on the wires. Could it be that “please set the esc route again...” means that you need to ensure the wires are set so they don’t get sucked into the fan. The same warning was on the wire in the F16 - and you know what happened to someone when the wires were not secured.

I'd like to do some more complex planes, but we don't have relationships with these distributors or vendors yet, and I suppose their business model probably doesn't include having a guy like me getting a plane for reviews? Not sure they could make business sense of it...I think many of these companies operate at a very tight margin to keep in business, while the monsters of the world, like Horizon Hobby have 100% Chinese labor and decent quality to expense ratio to reach the masses. Not sure I'm exactly right, but the more I learn about this crazy RC business, the more I think this is true. To make it on the RC stage these days, you have to WANT IT BAD. There's no half ass efforts, even from the small companies that barely make it work.

      Gain adjusts how heavily the AS3X stabilisation reacts to outside forces, thats why at the start the plane is wobbling from side to side in the air because the gain is set too high. Its not a knob on the transmitter btw its in the menus and only relevant if you are using AS3X or SAFE.

    I would not have used more than 40% aileron gain on a maiden. I typically start with 30, 40, and 50 percent on AER. The CG on the 90mm Freewing F/A-18 is at 88mm. Maybe they should have divided the 110 by 2..

Spektrum operates in DSMX or DSM2 or real old ones are DSM. Futaba is FHSS. Flyzone uses their own proprietary protocol, but there are "OpenTx" transmitters that will do "multi-protocol". Don't even bother with that...you need to be somewhat of an expert. You will be very overwhelmed and you will not find success, so please do get a Spektrum Tx, and you can follow along with us, or even go back in time and follow along. We will help you along the way. @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First - you probably need to update your firmware so you can get forward programming, and you will need to make some assignments to LOWER channels....
      JUST like I did, you need to setup a FLIGHT MODE
      Attach a channel to that Flight mode in Channel Assign
      Go into Forward Programming and do First Time AS3X Setup and make your assignment from above to the channel.
      Now do the First Time SAFE setup and you'll be well on the way to copying my setup.
      I can not share exactly how to do it since I don't have the DX6, and when and if you have available funds, you want to think about getting an NX8 - this will carry you along for some time, before needing another upgrade.
      Good luck. It's not as hard as you think - just get in there an do it. Remember....forward programming is only done AFTER you bind...the plane HAS TO BE ON and BOUND for the menu option to even show up.
