Guys, fighter jets are inherently unstable, that's why they're so maneuverable . Take a sleek, aerodynamic plane and strap a heavy, square box on it, it's not going to fly right. It's like flying with the airbrake deployed.
6:20 When he rebuild the plane, why not cut out a spot in the middle of the plane designed for the go pro to fit in a little? Maybe it can go in 1" or 1.5". And center it, but back towards the rear more. That might help.
I don’t fly rc planes a lot, but I do own a few. I own the small yellow one (it is called the champ) and I can say that it is quite capable. Despite the lack of ailerons, there are still multiple maneuvers that it can perform. My personal favorite is bring it to a high altitude, and jamming the left stick to the bottom left/right corner and holding it there with the thrust at full. The aircraft enters a steep dive while spinning on multiple axis’s. Then, I pull up right before it touches the ground. Unfortunately, I have broken the wing twice while doing that.

Word of advice to anyone wanting to purchase an rc airplane, the Horizon Hobby Apprentice STS is an amazing first plane. It is large to it can handle high winds (personally tested at 35mph) and is very forgiving. You can also buy. GPS sensor and set up a boundary where if the plane starts to cross it, it automatically turns around. You can also by a radar for the bottom that automatically flares the airplane when landing. This helps prevent new pilots from landing at too steep and f an angle and smashing the plane into the ground. It also has auto level so if you let go of the controls it returns to level flight by itself. Lastly with a 3200mah 3s Lopo you can get between 15 minutes to 25 minutes of flight time, depending how fast you are going and if there is wind.
The 1.2 m aero scout is a better beginner plane. It has stronger landing gear, is a pusher prop so you don’t have to worry about breaking the cowling, and is way cheaper. It also flies a lot better and uses screws to hold on the wings instead of rubber bands.
@@mybobize it probably is, but you can fly the habu too as a beginner, and once you are getting it under good control, you can get way more out of it compared to the aeroscout

Yeah, EDF jets don't have as much toque. Takes longer to take off. Gotta have that CG on point too. Also, horizon hobby sells it for $530. You already have the batteries, controller, & charger, so you save money there. Good luck.
Also, specifically with the Hornet because of the wheels, the center of rotation is way far back from the center of lift, so it needs flaps to aid in rotation.
The one they showed here is the Discontinued E-Flite one. (You can tell because Motion’s doesn’t have drop tanks or missiles.) The E-Flite was only 529.
Yea these guys are clowns that have no business screwing up our beloved hobby while the Fed is constantly breathing down our necks already. People like these kids piss me off big time, like that cletus mcdueshbag guy
EDF jets are not that hard. I had six inside the first 3 months of flying. The hard part of any rc plane is the maiden. You have to track and learn the airframe's characteristics in under four minutes, while applying trim and using flaps and retracts for the first time in the air. Glide slope and stall characteristics have to be felt out. ALWAYs check the documentation for CG. Also when you buy a model the odds of somebody on TH-cam showing you battery placement and what size they used is very high.
The E-Flite F-16 Thunderbird would have been better for you guys... It’s cheaper, beginner friendly, and it can go at least 122 mph. Also, the RC Pilot should know about CG.
I’m sorry but I got to call bs. First off, the “$1,500” jet is actually $500; you guys are lying for dramatic affect. Also, if someone has flown an rc airplane before, let alone a real plane, then they will know what the cg is, and the GoPro was not far off the cg anyways. The plane should have flown just fine, maybe a little nose heavy and out of trim but the gyro would have handled it. If he had the knowledge to fix the retracts and the rest of the F-18 after the crashes then he’d know how to balance it. In addition, I checked online and the Eflite FA-18 isn’t sold on Amazon and the fastest shipping is well over a day, so you likely had the backup purchased before so you could use it after intentionally crashing the first, and then canibalize it for its merely cosmetic parts that the other aircraft didn’t need to get back in the air. For further evidence of staging, if the LiPo was actually about to explode (they don’t explode, just burn very intensely) you wouldn’t walk in circles and say “that things about to explode” for an hour before doing something, you’d unplug it and throw it in a sand bucket. One last issue, how’d you get footage of the FA-18 flying if they all crashed on their maiden flights and haven’t fixed it yet because you haven’t gotten your 100k likes? Either you flew it before without intentionally crashing for once, or you had someone else at the field do it.
@@bestbomb111 the parts they got were cheap, and it’d still be lying. If I crash my old car and buy a new one I don’t add the costs together when I say how much it costs.
It has been my dream plans since the day it was released. Of course, the pilot didn’t do certain things that are necessary to make this work, it definitely should have flown.
HA what you mean is all those F/A-18’s you bought were $1,500 total. This is a VERY fun hobby that just takes practice like anything else to get good at it. The average person COULD actually pick one up and fly it. There is this technology called SAFE and AS3X and other modes to prevent you from crashing and to make it easier for you to fly. You guys are either clickbaiting or just spewing inaccurate information. This is the E Flite F/A-18 Blue Angels. The price of this jet is now $529 (not including tax). It was $469 when I bought it. And like Aerospace Matt said in the comments below, you can get what you need to fly this under $1,000…. It’s not that hard to fly. First of all, don’t ever use a GoPro on an rc jet. Too big and heavy. And if you know ANYTHING about rc planes, it’s that the center of gravity is VERY IMPORTANT. Which I’m sorry but, you apparently didn’t know that or your just crashing it on purpose. Second, ever heard of flaps??? If you were a pilot you’d know what they were, when they were used, and how they work. Third, you would know that there is also this thing called DRAG. It basically prevents an airplane from getting all the proper airflow over the wings and fuselage. And putting the fake ordinance and go pros on it doesn’t help. You need far more RC experience with other airplanes before you even ATTEMPT to fly something like this. I’ve flown mine 5 times now. You also would know this if your an RC pilot that you kind of need time for an RC jet to rotate (lift off the ground) and to build up speed before you decide to throw the elevator up and make it fly. This video is highly disappointing and inaccurate. This is a very awesome jet to fly. But requires a high amount of experience. EVEN ON THE BOX it says “Extra-scale Jet for Experienced Pilots” I’m sorry but I highly doubt your a pilot and barely fly RC. You wouldn’t be spewing inaccurate information out and not knowing how an airplane flies and functions if you were. I've got a great tip for checking if a plane is too nose heavy. While it's still on the ground, lift the nose, and it should come back down and touch softly. If it comes down too fast or hard, move the battery back until it doesn't. Better luck next time! 😁👍🛩
Then how come he didn’t check the CG? As a pilot, he should understand the importance of that. He should also understand the importance of using flaps to assist in the takeoff. Also, he should know about the incredible amount of drag that the GoPro creates when situated on the wing root glove. The antics in this video were quite frankly amateurish, and leaves us questioning if he truly has experience flying RC planes.
@@brian-tj2op Yes it is an “RC plane”. What I don’t like seeing is this jet getting a bad reputation from this video. He knows too much to forget to balance a plane. I’m 80% sure the crashing was staged or at least rigged to happen as well. Also, the jet was $472, not $1500.
Hey guys I really hope that you see my comment but I have a theory if it was always nose heavy without the GoPro in the front why don't you put the GoPro closer to the back pretty much where the rear thrusters are that should be able to balance it out once it is in the air
Ummm, wait a sec. that “1000 dollar RC Jet” is the E-Flite F-18 Hornet Blue Angels. It’s actually only $529 (tax not included) Were you including the price of the battery, charger, and transmitter? I can tell you, if you purchase the right things, you can still get all you need to fly this for under 1K. Don’t let the price prevent you from getting this. If you want it, just make sure you fly other aircraft first before you fly it. It’s not for beginners.
They said $1,500. Lmfao. That eflite carbon cub also isnt $1500. This clowns couldnt even read the 2nd page of the manual that says to adjust 4mm positive elevator. Their videos are garbage and obviously they aren't intelligent or honest

@@AerospaceMatt Agreed. I (someone who is involved with the rc hobby) saw so many flaws with this video and so many mistakes that could have easily been avoided. On top of that, they simply were not good enough pilots to be attempting to fly many of those aircraft.

The CG looks like it was completely messed up on the F-18 as well as the trim... Also these small so called foam "JETS" dont fly 100mph... thats like 160km/h and that is a real Jet territory... Well they do go 100mph but certainly not this one... It takes way too long to even take off so as i see it its pretty underpowered too... I have one of these F-18s... and they do fly great if trimmed correctly (forget the manual - use common sense - you are a real life pilot after all...) but they do not go 100mph... :) Also a go-pro on anairplane like that... That wont fly stable even if you strap a 200N jet engine on it...well it will fly... like a projectile... not like a plane haha Great and fun video BTW! Thumbs up

He knows too much to forget to balance a plane. I’m 80% sure the crashing was staged or at least rigged to happen as well. Also, the jet was $472, not $1500.
The thumbnail looked like a GTA 5 thumbnail 😅
RIP little jet pilot
U got ripped off on that blue angels f18. Eflite has them for $529 shipped.
Nope, the E-Flite F-18 is NOT $1500. So much ignorance in this video!!
Unfortunately so true. Not a great ambassador for the hobby, and the sad part is this has got over a million views.
Yes James L. It’s highly disappointing that he’s spewing inaccurate information like this. Ha what he means is he spent $1500 total on all 3 of them !
Hey guys I really hope that you see my comment but I have a theory if it was always nose heavy without the GoPro in the front why don't you put the GoPro closer to the back pretty much where the rear thrusters are that should be able to balance it out once it is in the air
Faxes
Maybe move the battery back a little too. It probably has trim settings too that would help.
Rip the guy in the plane 😢😂❤
Humble pie 😂😂😂🙌 Next time buddy lol 👊
@@krotchlickmeugh627 Yeah! That’s another thing! They forgot to do the 4mm Elevator adjustment. The pilot guy apparently has 5 years of RC experience. Yeah, and I have 2.5 years and I bet I could fly my Blue Angel better (I have yet to unbox mine though)
The jet is $550 not $1500
And the ARF + version is only 379!
JUST TAKE THE GOPRO OFF
Jeff is an official blue angel
You didn't check the CG, did you. The reason for the crash of the jet, is because you had a large gopro on the side of the fuse.
why did you put gopro's on the blue angel? and WHY does it cost 1,500? they cost 500$, you guys over payed two times in a row
Ngl for 5 years ur bad if u cant fly a horizon edf
He could have just used SAFE! Also, yeah, his battery was too far forward (and he didn’t check it) and he didn’t even use flaps for takeoff.
Lol any rc pilot would've known to check cg after camera was on it.....I wish I could get the chance to do this...good fun
the jet wont fly with the damn gopro lmao
1:31 wow (Kita Cobain guys) I Love You🥰🥰🥰
My plane: top speed is 60 mph
Jeff’s plane: top speed 100 mph
Me:
👀
I got a plane that’s been tested to achieve 122 mph.
The “$500” plane and the “$1500” plane cost the same amount. This video annoys me more than I can express.
Yeah, me too. Not only the price discrepancy but the level of sheer incompetence on display.
@@AerospaceMatt Agreed. I (someone who is involved with the rc hobby) saw so many flaws with this video and so many mistakes that could have easily been avoided. On top of that, they simply were not good enough pilots to be attempting to fly many of those aircraft.
@@kalebspencer2687 Yeah, the first 2 prop planes were fine, but the jet (which are usually challenging to fly) was beyond their capabilities.
It's like Mr Beast, but planes. I love it
This was a good video keep up the good work
brooooo, the last crashed hurted, but the aggression (which I really understood but still...) hurted even more. I live near an airport and we are not allowed to fly. so seeing a 1500 dollar plane crash and getting destroyed is painfull.
Rest assured, it was only a 529 dollar crash. But still expensive. Having had mine go down due to a defect was pretty painful.
RIP Pilot Jeffy
I like your videos guys 😊
Big rip to the pilot of the jet, love u guys!
Bigger rip to the jet itself!! Beautiful jet, destroyed 3 times. Hard to watch.
These prices are wild $80 plane vs $150 plane vs $450 jet
Nah bro it's 40 vs 112 vs 258
That was $3,000 worth of 2 $1,500 Airplanes
It’s so cool that you Jeff now how to fly a plain and now you are sharing it whit anthers.
somebody get jeff an award for crashing so many plannes
How is the eflite f18 1500? They sell for less than 600
Bro actually got tired And remade The plane, Nice
You are not the dangie bros you are now the dangerous Bros
hes a pilot and a good mechenic!
In this hobby, you learn how to repair planes real quick.
That wont fly stable even if you strap a 200N jet engine on it...well it will fly... like a projectile... not like a plane haha
Great and fun video BTW! Thumbs up
I am not going in a REAL plane with jeff 😂
It failed to take off
The explosion edit was too funny 😂
YOURE A PILOT?!?! I want to become a pilot but have no idea where to start. likely, you won't see this but thanks for giving me confidence! :)
