Nice looking build young man, looks pretty good,I don't know how long you've been playing with the wrenches but looking good, I'm 54 not a fan of show building but I've worked on a couple of 1rst place cars hate shining on chrome,wash an wax your life away for what, to look at it's a lot more fun to spend that time banging gears and upsetting the haters 😅😅. If you don't mind my input ,the electric fan is a no brainer, it's amazing how much a water pump drivin fan robs power and gas mileage, I've changed my dailys to a factory direct bolt in wiring an mounting, fans the whole package from junkyards it's a win win, On your electric fan if you wanna improve performance on yours an if you like the idea,,,find a shroud or make 1 to enclose the entire inside of the radiator so the fan draws across the entire thing, also if u opt to a factory fan or fans from factory LS set up from 05ish GM ride, they are multi stage 6 or 12 volt acceptable with multiple speeds on demand an are a must on the newer GM for voltage draw issues an overload problems on over the counter ones, this was a learning curve for my peabrain last yr. Had a mouse work my ride over an was having electrical problems,so to move ahead I decided to key on relay my fans until I had it sorted properly and if I had let it continue until I had found my issue I would of had a good amount in wiring replacement an alternators. Do some reading on how GM has the electric fans intergrared into the pickups, or even Cadillac Escalade,LTZ it's definitely genius an a money well spent a pos in my book 😊.
Beautiful set up! I just rebuilt and swapped the 5.3 in my 2005 suburban, so I have a spare 5.3 just sitting in my garage. I am thinking about rebuilding it and carbing it for some future project car.
Maybe I missed it, but what was your wide-open ignition timing curve? Similar to a conventional carbureted engine? Roughly 20 degrees at 2,000, 30 degrees at 3,000, topping out at 32-34 max?

You can actually still use a non baffled tank with EFI, you've just gotta be careful. I'm using the stock in-cab tank on a 71 C10 with a pump hung on a modified sending unit, and it works just fine. The only thing you have to be careful with is making sure you keep it above 1/4 of a tank and don't corner too hard to avoid fuel slosh. I could understand why this isn't everyone's jam, but in a pinch and for just the price of a pump and some fittings, you can keep EFI and the stock tank. The only reason I mention this is because some people may be under the impression that you need a baffled tank or you have to go carbed, when in reality you have more options. Really cool truck you've got!
I have a carb 6.0 with summit ls 3702 cam in a monte carlo with 3400 stall 2004r trans and 373 gears. It feels good but I haven't played with the timing settings yet. After I get it out the paint shop I will tamper around with that. You make a lot of sense its so much unnecessary money being spent on ls swaps.
Definitely good content. Try popping off the connection at the blower motor resistor. It might be the brushes on the motor giving you the rf issue during start up. Secondly would be Alternator.
I put a 5.3 Ls in my ranger I promise you it was a lot meaner and more reliable than the 302 I put in it but tbh it now has a 428fe edit 85 ranger mini truck

My reasons for paying close attention to this video are unique. I'm building a Propane-powered LS using two Impco 425 mixers on a Holley dual four-barrel intake. Why??? I have all the parts and I like to build stuff that's different.
I put over 200000 miles on a carburetor engine with 0 problems ,it was a 78 Buick Regal Sport that the 3.8 turbo charge engine went bad,so the owner drop in a 1977 Pontiac 301 engine with a Quadrajet 2 bbl I purchased it,rebuilt the carb,and put 200000 miles on the car with 0 problems and it ran strong,I inspect the filter with every oil change,3000 miles keep it clean ,motor had 0 blow by ,pvc valve was check every 3000 ,replace when needed so none of that bad air was going down the throat of the carb,all factory hookups stay in place and I ran a can Berryman B12 in the tank around every 3000 miles to keep the fuel system clean and the carb filter was check every 6000 miles,was replace when needed,I had more problems with fuel injection vehicles than with carburetor vehicles
I just started my first Ls 4.8 with btr stsge 2 on the stand won’t idle tho I think I need a time since it’s stock efi set up. I already have avs2 carb watchin your video is making me think twice and go to carb Ls (71 el co) I’m not sure how much a tune ecu service. I’m only concerned with carb stumble off the line but bby hen again I didn’t use a fuel regulator with the avs2

I have a 238-242 duration .600 .600 lift cam in a lq9, what selector on the msd box is best until I can hook a laptop to it? LS1HO? It's on truck right now but I only run on 93.
If want run temp sensor just get you one of 98 ls1 3 pin with connector and use the green wire ,also since use th350 transmission dipstick doesn't hole to bolt down cause bolt dont use is for dipstick so have get the L bracket alot miss this ,I just did ls swap to my k10 with th350 built for 500 hp.. and runs like top but I went efi and I'm thinking swapping to carb...

@@squarebodyblake4464 they are both good engines and reliable, either choice will do well. The 383 has a more distinct and bad ass sound. The LS has better fuel economy even with a hot cam. I am doing an LS swap in my squarebody as well but will go with a 383 once I get more $$$

A few videos out there you can flash the stock computer to run only the ignition for free excluding the OBDLink dongle.

Sounds great but that trans needs a shift kit! A B & M shift improver kit is easy to install and works great.

I use -6 AN lines for power steering . Carb LS is easy to do easier then most think.

Fuel vent line is restriction you may be fine with carb low pressure. I had over pressure with fuel injection.

Use a duel spring for that carb . It will help .
Your 317 heads are cathedral port… does the intake manifold ports match? Really only seen rectangle port intakes for sale.
