- Jamie said to have a go at the oil cooler, radiator, valve clearances next so we can start buttoning up the engine on the Kawasaki ZZR1100, so that's what I'm doing. But..... There's BAD news in this one as well...

I can understand the frustration of waiting for parts and longer than normal delivery times , a rebuild kit for an automatic transmission took six months for me , it was just lucky that I didn’t need them at the time.

I was sooooo disappointed, but to be fair even with all the work put in today with rebuilding carbs, installing the exhaust, cooler, radiator etc, there's no way we were going to hear it run today. It's very very close though 😁👍
You've sorted your o ring now but for future reference Allen's performance do most parts for Keihin and Mikuni carbs. I've had o rings off them, good service.

Feeling your pain with waiting for parts, i refurbished an MV Agusta a little while back and parts from Italy to Australia took months!

Too right.... there's LOADS to do and the list is getting shorter which is a good thing, but I REALLY want to hear it running now 🤣😂
I think you can turn down some of the larger old shims to spec. you just turn them down with a good stone and go slow and mesure them, do it in one side only and that side put it down to the valve head if youre concerned of its integrity but youl be ok. Then when the parts arrive you can swap them no problem. Shims are like carbide tool steel they are hard all the way not case harden in the surface only. Just adjust them. Think youl be ok.
Now there's an option I hadn't considered... stoning them...
I've already got the others on their way now so will probably just wait for them. There's other stuff i can do whilst I wait... 😁👍

😢 I know that feeling. Short story - I waited 4.5 months during the first Covid for fork sleeves and other bits, all for a 20 minute job. Yeah I cried.

Those standard Kawasaki O rings will not tolerate ethanol, made of NBR and HNBR. NRP or Litetec for ethanol resistant stuff.

I need to start collecting a few I think 🤔
Will there be a compression test, just to compare with the data in service manual? Remember, fully open throttle and have the battery charging between the cycles

I doubt it... these are all surface ground to domension and would then be hardened as well. I'd rather not risk it matey 🤔

@@QuickBikesI know, ive been there, get every thing planned out, just about to finish an engine off, waiting like a praying mantis for the post man to just give me that few last parts, and then the fk its getting late in the day were is it, ring the parts shop up and the oh, were waiting on them to come in, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, why me lol.
I am looking forward to the "she alive" moment though when its all back together, great vids as usual, takes me back to my zzr1100 days. just make sure the fuel filters in the tank 2 of them are clear, i am sure they are but, just incase, i had a blocked one at one point, and didnt realise there are 2 of them. actually scratch that i forgot you have the c class not d class zzr1100, the tanks are different, doh, i just checked on fowlers parts.
