  • With the hard work basically done, it's now just an assembly job to get the 1990 Kawasaki ZZR1100 back on the road. So today I'm refitting the oil pump, sump, alternator, starter motor and anything else I can find laying around.

To tighten front sprocket. Put chain on. Place a block of wood across the top of swingarm and through the wheel. Torque it up. Make sure at least two tabs are bent over on toothed washer which should be replaced. Ive had the front sprocket come off at 70 mph. It shredded the sprocket cover and the chain locked up the back wheel. Fortunately I just skidded to a halt. As others stated. It looks like you didn't install the inner sprocket cover gasket.

Yeah, easy enough to do, but I really wantvto replace the locking washer as this ones nasty... 😁

Simon....,there is a large dia oil passage dowel (around 20mm dia) on the underside of oil pump bracket (adjacent to where the oil pickup locates into....)
Around that oil passage dowel is an '0' ring type gasket that is Flat on one side (the side that goes against the oil pump bracket....
Did you remember to fit this?
I only mention it as in the video I can see the large oil passage dowel....,but can't be sure I see the '0' ring gasket that fits around it....
I'm assuming it IS there and you remembered about it....,but just wanted to double check prior to fully bolting up the oil pan and fitting the engine...
Oh and you done great with all of this......,really hoping the gear issue is now sorted....
    Following along with great interest....!

Yes matey, the dowel stayed in place so everything was where it was left and the o rings changed. I tried to get everything on camera, bit obviously missed a few bits... hopefully it's sorted now, but we'll see hey
