Thank you for taking the time to do this, much appreciated. I have an 89 (3rd owner) and have no plans to ever sell her on. Your information and insights are invaluable to someone like me. Keep them coming.
I had exactly the same problem when I tried to take the oil filter out and the exhaust crosspipe is on the way. Good that someone showed me how to do it because factory repair manual is not of help.
And I thought the oil filter location on my ST1300 was poorly planned. At least it is a spin on and only drops oil all over the place. I didn’t realize that Kawasaki hadn’t switched to spin on filters in 1989.
Good steady progress, can I ask a favour of you. Would you mind measuring the length of the forks before you put them back in please. I am thinking of updating the forks on mine and I believe the forks from a ZZR600 E will fit, but I need to know the overall length of the originals.

Your welcome, thanks for the kind comment.

The appearance of the oil cooler and radiator make a good argument for fender extensions.

Yes and the exhaust just about gets in the way 🤬
