- The 1990 Kawasaki ZZR1100 is really coming together and mot day is getting close. Time to get the airbox and ducting in place and sort out the rear hugger which is rubbing on the tyre. One of these gave me not a nice time sorting it out...

She went under the knife today to get it sorted matey. A fistful of antibiotics and pain relief for the next week and hopefully it's all sorted 😁🤞

There really wasn't much room to work it out... Got a bit lucky really buy I'll take that any day matey 👍
Another excellent approach to fettling,loving the mellow vibe when you hit any problems...Im now fettling mine thanks to you..One thing I did/do is too run a flat sanding plate (obvs without any sanding paper)against the respective brake/clutch cylinders to vibrate the line hopefully dislodging the air..

Ive always foung stud extractors to be a little hit or miss too, i generally favour a screwdriver torx bit gently tapped in to a fresh drilled hole which i find works better - it used to be my preferred route for removing snap-off bolts from ignition systems too.
Got it done either way, glad to see this old classic getting the love it deserves :)

had a zzr600 with a dodgy starter button, turns out the wiring loom was chaffed where it goes past the headstock - worth a look

I getixed results with them, but luckily in this case it worked 😁👍
Try rotating rear wheel spindle to its lower position in the swing arm, might give the right amount of clearance ?
I'm doingbthis tomorrow as that's the way it's probably supposed to be set. The forks were low in the yokes as well as it turns out solid guess it just won't want to turn into a corner. Good shout matey and thanks for chipping in 😁👍

Can't believe I didn't spot it when pulling the carbs apart though 🤣😂
Hydraulic clutches can be a real pain to bleed cause your not pumping against a solid surface like in a brake.
You could try removing the slave cylinder and clamping in with something while you bleed it, that might work.
Yeah, I've heard of folks doing that. I think I'm goingvto strip and clean it first as other hydraulics have been minging... 😁👍

To bleed brakes and clutch fill syringe with fluid and push it through the bleed nippel it forces the air out
Yeah I've seen this done, but everything is designed for.the fluid to go the other way... either way I'll get it done shortly, butbthanks for the tip matey 👍
One of these a few years ago For bleeding the brakes on my Land Rover that were being an absolute arse but inadvertently found that they the dogs b for bikes 🏍 Phoenix Systems V-5 Reverse Brake Bleeder 2104-B

The hugger probably came with no holes or fixing kit. The same as the cheap ones I've had a look at for my Bandit. So the fitting will only be as good as the person that fitted it.
Seems alright now I warmed it up a bit and moved it.... Plenty of tyre clearance again now anyways 😁👍

Good to see the build moving forward fast, can't wait to hear you laughing after your first ride second best bike I ride compared to the blackbird but I am biased because I love the blackbird but the ZZR is a hoot aswell.

well done on that screw ,, I hate extractors,, never use them meself ,,, never had a reliable experience with them ! heat and shock are ur friends ,,, well done though , that was in a nasty place ! could easily have gone to custard
Yeah, the word 'puckered' springs to mind for some reason.... Not a lot of room to work but thankfully it all came good in the end 😁
Have you checked to see if this is a power restricted ZZaah ? I remember that some were, but don't know when they stopped doing it.

when bleeding ,,, and stuff aint coming out ,,, one approach rags and water everywhere to protect paint ,,, bleed nipple out , thumb over bleed nipple thread ,,,operate brake clutch etc ur thumb will let air out but not air in .. problems occur when ya need to refill ... just screw in bleed nipple then rinse and repeat when fluid appears ,,, bleed brakes normally.... for really bad systems start at beginning ... say clutch ,,, remove bolt from hose thumb over threaded hole ,,, oil appears ,,, hose on ,, pinch other end of hose between fingers ,,, air out until fluid appears ,,, then nipple as said above ! be careful with oil squirting on paint !
Now would be an ideal time to do this as nothingbis painted yet 😂
