The smile on the cleaning guys face says it all😎
probably remembering his days at Bandimere Speedway
“Lets go put it in the truck really quick, lets have some fun.” 😂
Every mechanic feels it every time you fire up a motor for the first time. Amazing feeling. Great stuff guys
I know that feeling very well. I really don't remember how many engines I've built. I've had a good career.
Wow, that SOUND is absolutely nuts. Very curious to see what numbers it makes, but the roar is already a win!
Far from nuts
520 plus should be easy 👌
Those copper valve covers look smart with the black block.
Funny how opinions differ.. copper/brass belongs on a boat personally.
@@patrickvanden8322yeah aesthetic is purely subjective
NICE! I thought it was cool how after it lit off (did it fire that quick?) you both looked at each other and smiled ... truth be told, I smiled too.
Sounds amazing. Love your no BS approach to filming these. Also, give the cleaning guy a raise already.
This was a great build series. I hope you do more like this.
I’m currently 69 years old and high school class of 1973. I consider ‘67 through ‘71 the golden age of American muscle and I lived through it. In my teens, I knew my cars and knew what I would get if I had the money (I never did). For me it was (and is) Mopar or no car. Anyway, the cool kids had engines that said “bubblegum bubblegum” at idle (we don’t know what they said at 5000 ripems cause it was hard to hear anything). So this engine sound brought me a flood of great memories, even if it was coming from a GM product. Great to hear! 🥸👍👀😊✅
Great work guys. Jim's smile says it all. He looks like a kid at Christmas. I watched the last minute a few times just to see him grin. I'm in my 70's now and it reminds me of the good old days except we had to "struggle" with carb setup back then.
No other feeling in the world is like that! When the beast roars to life after you build it, IT'S ALIVE!! Thanks for your time guys
That was awesome, such a great sound. Thank you.
Awesomeness!! What a beautiful first start
Can’t wait for the dyno results!
I can already tell you it will be anywhere from 500hp to 560hp
Great work guys! Thsts got a pretty mean sound to it, cant wait to see it on the dyno !
Small block Chevy. Greatest engine of all time and that one sounds great!
Memories of my youth, you're sure you've done everything correctly but there's still that trepidation as you turn it over, then it fires up first go and a wave of satisfaction mixed with relief comes over you. I was smiling as much as the cleaning guy just reliving the memories. 😊
I enjoy the way you’re doing your videos now. You’re real life, some folk try to make every little thing a tragedy. Keep up the great work.
That thing sounds absolutely wicked!!! Sounds like a dragster
Love the copper coloured finned aluminum rocker covers ❤
When I assembled my first engine I was surprised that it ran. You guys are so laid back!
I had a smile on my face from ear to ear bringing back memories of starting a freshly rebuilt engine
Great to see your pops happy!
You Just can't beat That 70's Sound!
I TOO am feeling that nostalgia but in my case it is 60's nostalgia. Sweet!
Lookin and sounding good. Your Dad's smile says it all...
Loved watching this build from start to finish (almost, pre-dyno), Can’t wait to see some numbers next!
The throttle response is so quick! No lag or delay. What a snappy engine. Well done.
Awesome guys love to hear it running, the cam is great 👍
Awesome, never gets old. As a former employee of AFR, I approve 👌
That is one of the most satisfying sounds ever rebuilt a few engines myself, and there’s nothing like the first start and everything is running well.
Good job guys
I felt that nostalgia all the way in Ohio. Nothing sounds like a good ol American V8🙌🏻
I had a 1970 Road Runner in 1970. I put Hooker Headers on that 383BB. Had to jack up remove the driver side wheel just to change plugs.
LOL...
Loved this build, must feel good to hear it come to life 👍
Sweet. Me, I rebuilt antique radios and when they talk for the first time (many for 75+ years) it puts a smile on my face too.
I am happy for u and especially your dad. he s having a good time reving the engine. proberly some good memories too when he was your age
That's a keeper. What awesome work you two do!
I see the needs for some more preformance builds! I work part time a a machine shop, and we mainly work on performance builds. The stroker is one of my favorites to build
That thing sounded beautiful!
That motor sounds wonderful! Love that rumbling thunder!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Love this series. Nothing better than starting up easy after assembling 👍
I hope that you do more start to finish video projects like this. It was a nice video series to watch. That engine sounded sweet. Music to an old timers ears. Great rebuild guys.
I'm in grad school for molecular biology, and I don't know what it is exactly but for some reason seeing someone do great work in a different field than my own is refreshing and inspiring. Keep up the great work! Y'alls knowledge and mindset are a valuable asset to many
That sounds wicked awesome. Really love your videos and how you guys really know what you’re doing when building engines.
Beast if a motor! Sounds excellent! You both are artists.
The smiles when it roared to life, awesome
Jim's Automotive Machine Shop Sound Beautiful 😊😊😊😊😊
Sounds beautiful, looks wonderful!
That thing is gnarly sounding good job!
I love the way it sounds
The sound of a fresh fire up brought tears of joy. The experience and patience not to mention the passion of a precise build. Gold stars and pizza to the cleaning guy and Kudos to the recording guy.
Really REALLY nice work!
Sounds AWESOME!!
What an absolute cracking job you guys have done. Sounds amazing. Watched every video from when the wrecked block come in. Great channel 👏

Sounds awesome boys! Great job
Way to go guys. Sounds perfect.
That is impressive! Well done
Very nice work gentleman; love the sound and cam lope!
That sound on that first start😮😮😮
Pops was loving it.
nothing brings a devilish smile to a engine builders face like the first lope sounds at start up!
Vice grips, the ultimate kill switch.
Love it.
Thank y’all.
I believe we call that a case of "Time and Money Well Spent".
That sounds very strong , nicely done
I'm a 70's guy too and I love the sound of that engine. That's how ALL V8's should sound. 😁 Great work guys. Should have very good dyno numbers. I'm guessing 400+ easy.
The tickover sounds awesome 👌🏻
Great job, can’t wait to see it in action
Dang gentlemen!! That thing sounds WICKED!! Excellent work.
Love that sound! ❤❤❤
You gotta be happy with that!😊
Starts straight up. Sounds the part. Runs like a clock. Idles nice for the beast it is.
I'd say job well done.
It made me smile from ear to ear, just like you guys.
Holy cow! That smile says it all....I was also smiling when it first started - what a beaut!!!!!
Sounds great that’s a amazing build
Sounds amazing boys fine job. ❤
Fired right up and revs come quick!
Finally seeing an engine that you guys worked on to start. I know it's probably going to be far and few, but this is what its all about if you ask me.
Nice and Lumpy ! Good job ! Sounds Awesome ! Thanks for sharing !
Very well done, very impressive
Sounds rowdy. Great job fellas. Y’all do awesome work 🍻
Great video. We do a lot of EFI conversions for customers and we have had very bad luck with the fitech. We’ve also had bad luck putting throttlebody injection on a dual plane intake manifold. We have made it work. I do now recommend single plane intake with a throttle body injection. Very cool build follow.
Nice job! That engine means business.
WONDERFUL sound!
Sounds awesome guys!!!
That truck is going to be a screamer. That engine sounds absolutely great. Great job guys.
Oh that beautiful eastern Colorado sky. ❤❤❤
Sounds fantastic! Can't wait for the numbers
That's a nice smile from your dad at the end as he revs it :)
Fun one to watch from start to finish.
Sounds and looks awesome!
Nice build and great series. I think y’all did an awesome job and should make good power. All she needs is some boost!!
Sweet! Love you all’s videos
I’ve been eating all your guys videos up! Great channel! I’m no machinist, but this stuff is very interesting to me! But I do want to comment on your relationship between each other. I think your father did a great job raising you. I’m a father myself. I have a daughter of 10 and a son of 7 and I hope to God that when my Son is your age we have a relationship like you two! Great job dad! Keep it up you guys! Looking forward to more and more from you guys!
That’s just awesome ! Great work !!🎉😊
5hose copper valve covers look great!!!
This really makes me want to throw together my 388. That engine is pretty solid, I'd go so far as calling it your run of the mill performance 383. Cam, heads, everything is around where you'd expect a performance street 383 to be. Keep up the good work.
There nothing like the sound of a v8 with a camb in it,thanks for the video, made me smile.
Very satisfying.
That thing sounds great!
God I love the sound of an American V8 Pure Gold. You guys did great work to get it where it’s at can’t wait to see dyno #’s!!!
