    With the battery and hold down out of the way and the radiator moved out of the way this would be a great time to change out the much needed radiator hoses . And since that you are already under the car do a oil change at the same time too.

    Great install video but what are the actual advantages of replacing the factory intercoolers? I recently bought a 2013 Abarth and I'm currently looking at performance upgrade options but I want to know what the advantages and disadvantages are before I proceed. It would be awesome if you would make a video stating why someone would want to spend the money on your performance upgrades. I get that one might gain a bit of cooling with a bigger intercooler and better air flow across the heat exchanger but what real world impact would it have on performance overall? Thanks for your efforts and information.

      Does a Fmic add horsepower?
      To put it simply: no, a larger intercooler will not really add any horsepower to your car. It does, however, give you much more wiggle room for a more aggressive tune without the risk of harming your engine. It should be noted, however, that too large of an intercooler can actually do more harm than good.

    Question for ya! Is the core the same shape and basic design as the expensive forge kit? I ask because I want to put the forge external oil cooler. Without spending 1400 on the forge kit. They look similar

      Not sure as we have no way to tear. The procedure is likely similar. If you have a multi-air then it definitely should. If you have a t-jet, we wouldn’t know as we don’t have those here

    what makes this intercooler better than the sila concepts one? I am in the market and am curious to know.

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do not have any experience with the SILA FMIC. Based on looking at the pictures of the SILA unit, it looks like that Intercooler does not replace the turbo side charge pipe (the hard pipe near the Downpipe directly underneath the turbo). This pipe is known to leak under higher boost levels which is why it is crucial to replace it. Our kit replaces that pipe in addition to all of the rest of the piping. As stated in our video, the only hose that is reused is the one directly off the turbo (which is fine because it is just a rubber hose that is secured with two clamps). I hope this helps you in regards to making your decision. As of 6/24/20, our kits are in stock and ready to ship!

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes depending on the car, one of the drawbacks of a FMIC is you might have a gap between the front bumper and the fender. Usually after about a week and it sitting in the sun, you can make adjustments to minimize it as the bumper will stretch

    After all that work and nothing is mentioned about why anyone would or should go through the effort and expense. Total waste of time.

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our videos mainly focus on the “How to” on upgrading components, not so much of what benefit/performance gain it provides. Most who watch our videos already know the “why” which is the reason we don’t go deep into that. However, to respond to your statement, it definitely is NOT a waste of time. With the factory dual side mount Intercooler system, there are numerous connection points that are known to leak, especially when you start adding other performance modifications. Also, with the increase of performance with other mods, the DUAL SMIC system tends to get “heat soaked” which dramatically decreases performance. In most cases, replacing the SMIC with a FMIC, eliminates both of these common issues from occurring. Hope this helps you to better understand why many upgrade to a FMIC.

    When someone says "Philips head" they are automatically disqualified as a mechanic.. That is a name brand of tools that no longer exists. That is NOT the name of the head of tool. . Positive and negative is widely used..

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This comment is funny. I’m around a lot of technicians in Texas and everyone calls it a “Phillips head” screwdriver. No one calls it “positive and negative”. I guess it depends on where you are. But disqualified because of what you call a tool? That’s ridiculous. Look up “Phillips screwdriver” on Home Depot’s website and you will find them listed. Look at Wikipedia and you will find this: “Screwdriver tips are available in a wide variety of types and sizes (List of screw drives). The two most common are the simple 'blade'-type for slotted screws, and Phillips, generically called "cross-recess", "cross-head", or "cross-point".” No mention of “positive and negative”.
