  • Here are the BEST Abarth Modifications you need to get your Abarth 595 or 500 to 250 BHP. Lots of people ask me about my modified abarth and what modifications i have on my car. Many people chase the 250 bhp figure in their abarth and sometimes you needs some specific modifications to be able to achieve over a certain threshold. In this video i aim to give you an insight into the best abarth modifications needed to achieve the results you want and hopefully answer a lot of the questions around modifications for the abarth 595.

    About My 250 BHP Abarth 500
    -------------------------------------------------
    What does 250 BHP in a lightweight car feel like? INSANE!!! On this channel i take you out on a journey and many drives, film reactions in my 250 bhp car. check out the first of my first 250 bhp abarth reaction series. It was a great bit of fun filming my first collaboration too. In the 250 bhp abarth reaction series i want to bring to you peoples reaction of what its like to ride passenger in my 250 bhp abarth 500! In the first video you will see a fellow youtuber reaction to the car at 250bhp, lots of Turbo flutter sound. Now the car has the bigger turbo the turbo flutter that comes out the turbo now sounds amazing! Taking the 250 bhp abarth 595 out for a first drive and hearing the sututututu sound and the reaction on my face when i drive the car fast is priceless. I also show you the 0-60 mph the car now makes (not fully accurate but close enough). The abarth 595 now is completely transformed. When you think of the fiat 500 abarth being a car that started at 160bhp and now is at 250bhp the power gain is incredible! I have spend a lot of time and research to understand how to make the car 250bhp but it is defiantly worth it! Some people cant quite believe that a little fiat 500 as they call it, cant get away from it even though it is an abarth! But those who call it the fiat 500 cant believe how fast the car is now! sometimes it surprises me too! The abarth 595/500 now is so fast it sometimes brakes traction in first in the dry! In the wet.. forget it. Cant drive it fast as it spins up in 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd lol! I absolutely love the abarth and feel that now the power is up to 250 bhp running 1.5 peak bar holding 1.3 the car now has the power it deserves. The road presence the abarth now has at 250bhp is insane. it will not be bullied to pull in to let someone past on the motorway anymore, instead it is now doing the hunting! As mentioned before. They turbo flutter sound that now comes from the big garrett turbo makes me smile. Turbo Flutter Sound for Days!!! haha.

      I love the cars but don't think expensive modifications are really necessary and find it a bit boring as someone who was never into cars until the modern version of the Fiat 500 came along.
      Boy racers and guys who are always tinkering with their car engines and spending ridiculous amounts on modifications rarely talk about anything-else other than referring to women as birds.
      Cars can be fun. Just find the details very boring. The £3 paint pen as a modification to the front grill of a series 4 Abarth is more up my street as well as tasteful decals.
      I like the cars for the way they look and think they sound great as standard.
      I enjoy the various you tube channels that cover Abarth. I am now a member of the Abarth owners club. I doubt I will go to a meet. I didn't go to the Fiat 500 picnic either.
      It is a brand. You buy something end of. I personally wouldn't go on about it as much as others.
      I thought people who get popular on You Tube earn millions. So why the need to promote products on top of that?

    My favorite modification on my Abarth (prepare for the immediate seemingly corny comment) is your decal on the passenger side (right side in North America). But wait, hold on...there are reasons for this. 1- It represents how strong and passionate this community is (Fiat/Abarth) no matter what region geographically. It's truly worldly! This goes for us passionate car guys, we need more people like us on this world! 2- I placed it on the right side of my car to represent the driver's side in the UK, your home country. I figured this was appropriate. Also, passing lane is the far left here, and obviously that's the Abarth's natural habitat. 3- You definitely put the final coat of clear on my decision making to purchase an Abarth. 4- I anticipated the release of your decal very, very much lol
    So yes, your decal means a lot to me. As always mate!

    I have a 2013 US Abarth. Added the Magneti Marelli GO Petal and ECU piggyback. Also a EuroCompetition Cold Air Injector and PTP Turbo blanket. Road Race Carbon Fiber rear spoiler, Madness HID lights and LED lights. 205 HP - reasonably quick and still relatively stock for good mechanical reliability, no check engine codes thrown, passes Texas emissions 100%, and good gas mileage.

      I'm not sure who you are asking Jason, but...
      It depends on if you want better braking, handling, power, or looks. When you start toying with the power it isn't usually a single item purchase that gets you where you'd want to be and many times there are a lot of supporting mods to accompany the "best bang" options. Eurocompulsion has one of the best tuning solutions for the US cars and all the other parts to go along with it. If you just want to FEEL, (not actually increase power), then you can do a simple mod such as the GoPedal which changes the feel of the input for the throttle making the car FEEL quicker based on the seat of the pants dyno but real-world numbers aren't really affected.
      Best advice would be to join the forums or even heaven forbid one of many Facebook groups and learn what has worked (or not worked) for others. www.fiat500usaforum.com/forum.php can offer a wealth of info and many helpful members willing to share their experiences with a multitude of products and vendors. I'm there too so if you join feel free to drop a line to say hello. (Tweak, one of the mods there).

      Considering getting one of these. They seem very good stock and they seem very moddable with a nice community. Plus being from the north east US, everyone here seems to drive lifted trucks, mustangs, and modded civics/corollas. I want something a little different, fun to drive, highly moddable, it doesn't break the bank to get the car, and something unique to show you have more than 2-3 options for a good street/sports car for cheap.

    stage 1 remap, and a better airfilter was more then enough for my performance needs...15% more torque, 20-30 more hp, better throttle response and broader powerband....found that some kw variant 3 coilovers and some good pilotsport 5´s added at least as much performance gains as the engine tune...then power is nothing without control.

    Bit of info from one of the guys from the abarth pages:
    One thing of note, you say VXR injectors at 380cc. They aren't Corsa VXR injectors at that rate (They are 311cc/min) (These injectors are fitted to any engine that has the GT1446 as standard), nor are they Astra H VXR injectors (350cc/min). Might be worth making a note of that somewhere as saying they are actually Audi/VW 225PS (1.8T engine) injectors. The others are Ferrari 599GTO injectors which flow exactly the same at 386cc/min. :) Otherwise, good video.
    As for the intercooler. It sits between the turbo and throttle body as is designed to reduce the temperature of the compressed air (Air heats up during compression), which in turn makes it more dense.By doing so, you increase the amount of oxygen in the air that's filling the cylinders, meaning more power. (I think that's what the video was meant to have said anyway ;) )

    In the USA, GPop sells a +1 wheel size GT1446 which is the sweet spot for 250+ bhp on a multiair car. NGEN sells a +2 wheel sized version also modified GT1446, which is good if you are going to put in a camshaft as well, and want max boost all the way to redline.

    I'm sure someone out has already commented on this but if not, the intercoolers purpose is to cool the intake temperature after the turbo. This is especially important because the turbo add so much heat to the ambient air after initial intake. There are several advantages 2 cooler intake temperatures like being able to run slightly leaner air to fuel mixture and pushing a little more boost. Even timing advance can be affected.

    I had my 595 Competizione remapped up north by a friend on a lab top connected to Romania. The engines power and torque are a super smother delivery. Fuel consumption is slightly improved. It’s on the dyno at 217 BHP. I’d like 250 plus and Brownie says he can do it just on the ecu. Is this plausible? 40 BHP alone was incredible because it changed the cars attitude. Keep up the good work marra

    Intercooler is to cool the air that's circling into the turbo then to the inlet manifold ,front mounted intercooler is better because uv always cold air being delivered to the manifold which keeps the power up better trew the gears ,normal setup for itwill produce warmer air as you climb the gears resulting in less bang in the cylinder in top 3 gears at higher revs ,not a major benifit unless ur rallying or track racing in ur turbo motor ,,

    There’s a lot of confusion about “cold air” and engines. “Cold air” is not important on a turbo car. It is on NA engine, not turbo. Compressed air is hot, it’s the intercoolers job to cool charge temps. That’s why your air intake temp sensor is on the intake manifold, not where the maf is, because ignition timing etc is not determined by pre turbo temps. All an air filter needs to do is suck in more air than the turbo requires. Turbo car, big filter, good intercoolers, NA engine, “cold air” is important.

    • @cutdepiefails6596
      @cutdepiefails6596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is tho. IATS is the most important metric in turbo cars. If the air coming into the turbo is cold it won't heat as much, it will get colder faster and farther after the ic. In megane rs for example, cai injen are 5° or more difference and at the end of the day around 10-20hp thru the rev range.

      Cut de Pie Fails do you really think that a few degrees cooler air coming from an air filter is going to make a difference when the air is going through a turbo that will compress it to hundreds of degrees? No. The intercooler is what’s important because it’s that which is will cool the compressed air. It’s pretty simple thermodynamics

    GT1446 all the way ;)
    Maybe it's just because that's what I have lol.
    Over here in NA Eurocompulsion is basically the gold standard for intakes and remaps.
    Most people who can, like me, go for EC dual maps, EC V4.1 intake, Alpha 4C coil packs, Turbosmart wastegate actuator, and Forge BOV.
    People still use intakes and chip tunes from places like Madness and TMC, but they're generally regarded as slightly less reliable than EC.
    For intercoolers, there's a huge variety. Since we get straight piped exhaust from the factory, most people just go catless or some version of it.
    These are essentially the supporting mods, with tune, required to push our multi-air 1446's past 235bhp.
    It's always interesting to see the differences in what it takes to push these awesome little cars past 235bhp!
    Hope I get to ride in a modded tjet 500 Abarth one day!

    • @bsd103
      @bsd103 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bhp != whp. The Eurocompulsion tunes are rated for whp. The phase 2 tune with bare minimum supporting mods makes 250+ bhp.

      What intake would you recommend for power?

    • @joshisnot11
      @joshisnot11 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming you meant BHP doesn't equal WHP.
      Also, until EC releases their numbers from the new dyno setup, I'm just gonna stay with slightly reduced expectations. I run their FT and phase 1, so I'm not just talking out my ass.
      I'm not sure if my car is actually putting out 225+ WHP with just the V4.1 and tune. I don't really care, honestly. It's the most fun I've ever had driving.

    • @joshisnot11
      @joshisnot11 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're looking for performance gains and you're in NA, the Eurocompulsion V4.1 is unmatched.
      It doesn't really give the noises many are looking for tho, but you can always go for an atmospheric blow off valve if you want the whooses and flutters.

    Well well I can only confirm that Tune4performance and Tony have done some magic on my Comp, with only a standard Garret 1446 and the forge intake, and actuator my result are outstanding! 221.8Bhp but the most interesting it's the torque I've achieved 293.5 Ft the power delivery it's outstanding ! Afternoon, been following your vids since June, to the point I booked my 2015 Turismo in to ProAlfa (fortunately a few months before they went AWOL) and got the full TD04 upgrade @ 220hp (as suggested by Chris for best day to day running) but is good for 240hp when the summer kicks in! So will be going back to Tune4Performance as they originally mapped my upgrade- Don't regret it one bit, completely reliable (touch wood) and getting 50/60mpg on long journeys!!. Regret getting the exhaust silenced a bit too much but that can always be fixed. Keep up the good work and can you let me know the details of where you take your car now!! Perry

    So true. My Abarth is pushing 260+ hp... but below 4000 RPM a stock turbo is actually better. So if you live life at redline it's fine.. but every shift reminds you that a +2.5 upgrade on the turbo maybe wasn't the best idea for a street car.

      EC rates their P1 at 227whp with the V4 intake, so I don't know exactly what bhp I'm running, but I don't care haha.
      All I know is that I have to let my eyebrows return from the back of my head every time I really hoon it!
      I love the the multiair system honestly. It's that point where the accelerator switches control from the throttle body to electronically-controlled intake valves that makes me grin every time.

      @varmastiko2908 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A big turbo that's needed for high hp can actually result in lower than stock fuel consumption if running standard camshafts - if it's mapped right. The reason is you won't be hitting boost under regular driving, so under those conditions you may be burning less fuel than with a standard engine.
      A good example of this is a car I used to have, a Saab 900 T16. I lowered its fuel consumption by 20% when increasing engine power by 90%.
      This may sound unbelievable, but it does work if you do it right. And of course, when you give it some gas, the fuel economy goes down the drain. But driven conservatively, a big turbo setup can be very frugal.

    Coming from the "tuner craze" in the early 2000's, the intercooler was integral to the the turbo as you know, there are some cryogenic setups that spray nitrogen onto the intercooler like a nitrous kit and cooling the air charge to the intake. On my Eagle Talon I upgraded the turbo from the stock TDO5 14B to the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Lancer Evolution III, straight bolt on affair. Now that I have the Abarth and my Talon just sitting there, I may pluck that tubro out of my Talon and see if it could be fitted to the Abarth.
