    I love your videos. They're so informative and well filmed. Shame you're not in the UK. I have a whole list of upgrades you could do to my Spider. Keep up the great work.

    brian you guys are the best. great video. i reallly wish i had this when i did my 1446+ install. helpful tho, gives me confidence and a couple of key steps i didn't take will benefit getting back in there to fix the walked out turbo mount studs! thanks much

    • @alltimesaresoon
      @alltimesaresoon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knowing what we do now about the studs to turbo flange, would you still have access if you installed the turbo attached to the exhaust manifold as an assembly? Allowing easier tightening or the use of safety wire bolts instead of the stud and nut combo?

    Hi, thanks for the video. A couple of questions. Why did you remove the down pipe? And if you did wasn’t that a good opportunity to upgrade the down pipe? Next, why can’t the exhaust manifold be removed with the turbo attached? Since both will be replaced why is disassembly required? And can’t the new turbo be mounted to the exhaust manifold before it is installed? It seems like you did a lot of work that could have been done prior to the installation. Just observation.

    You should make a common problems video for the 1.4l. I want a 124 bad as my next daily

    • @dave6575
      @dave6575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Common problem #1: People constantly telling you that the MX-5 is better (It isn't)
      #2: People constantly coming up to you and saying "Fix it again Tony!" and fighting the urge to beat them to a pulp with a torque wrench.
      #3: A lot '17 124's had a bad batch of AC compressors
      #4: Minor Evap leaks

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s funny (#1 and #2)

    • @Birdman757
      @Birdman757 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard a batch of 124s in 2018 had water pump issues (leaking). Besides that most things I find on the forums are in regards to misfire codes associated with the multi air system/brick which scares me. Also they’re not playing when it comes to spark plug service intervals lol

    Is it possible to install the turbo impeller housing to the manifold before installing the manifold? Seems it would make torquing as well as safety wiring the bolts much easier.

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see why not. For the 124, I would definitely still split the turbo though until the manifold is 100% on. Let us know how it works out.

  • @MrMaxDelux

    Hey.
    Good video. But wy not install a 200cell cat? And did you adjust the wastegate preload? Didn't se that in the video?

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We replaced the factory Downpipe with the Goodwin Racing SportCat Downpipe. We made mention of it in the video when we were installing it. As for preload, it was set to standard preload for the Forge unit. However, the focus was not on the Forge unit or Downpipe, it was on the turbo. We will have separate videos on those.

    • @MrMaxDelux
      @MrMaxDelux 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NGENCustomsandPerformance top notch... I usually re set the preload like letting the clamp stick on to the valve(pin) and then hook it of and two laps back.
      What spring (color) is in your wastegate? Curious.
      Max

    • @NGENCustomsandPerformance
      @NGENCustomsandPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So we have one full turn from max on the forge unit with a yellow spring. We have found that it works well at that setting with an upgraded turbo/manifold and two full turns from max when using the stock turbo/manifold.
