Eagle craft is so popular in my university its unbelievable. Whenever I went to the library to bring back books i borrowed, there would always be a bunch of highschoolers on the computers playing on eagle craft.
11:36 I know a person whose introduction to Minecraft was made through StreamCraft client (was kinda sad to not hear it mentioned in this section, it was the most popular russian modded server in 2013-2015 i think). They didn't even knew the game is called Minecraft, as they referred to it as "StreamCraft" everytime. Maybe its prime is long gone. VimeWorld actually was WAY more popular than 1,5k daily players as well.

one of the downsides of living in a 3rd world reality like us. cracked minecraft was my only way to play it (back in the day with the AnjoCaido launcher) no way i was gonna be able to make a purchase online without getting spanked by my mom for even asking that :P well, it's been more than a decade and i still used cracked launchers (TL Legacy) the once-in-a-full-moon times i want to play minecraft
> You can't search it without seeing a million scams. Well, here are quite a few things you could've done. First, the search engine. I use SearXNG now, it aggregates answers from engines like google, ddg, brave, bing, etc.; you can also set a target language and get results in that language (so setting lang to EN and searching Minecraft would effectively give the same results being in USA would). Second, I found myself memorizing most domains I visit, so I rarely resort to search engines entirely - the thing Domain Name System was in place for, actually. I'm legit convinced that people who google 'youtube' don't know how internet works.

Mojang/Microsoft does *not* (or rarely) change the price of Minecraft Java Edition on other countries with far weaker currency like other games do. The price stays at $26.95 USD. In the United States, $26.95 USD could cover a meal for one person at a mid-range restaurant or purchase a couple of items from a department store. In my country, $26.95 USD could cover several meals at a mid-range restaurant or represent a significant portion of a day's wage for many people. No sane person would actually purchase a game that costs this much unless they were saving up for it. I'd rather spend that money on actual necessities rather than Minecraft, and that's why I think Cracked MInecraft is so much more popular in other countries. Why buy it when you can just pirate it? And why buy Minecraft when Premium servers like Hypixel are at the other side of the world? You're only gonna get lag and a worse experience overall.
And to quote Gabe Newman from Valve, "Piracy is a service problem." I'm from the United States, and I agree that Mojang should adjust the price of Minecraft depending on what market they're selling the game to, like your country, for example.
For real, some price games just are outside the reality. If I can buy literally idk new phone with that price then there will be no reason to buy those games...

Being a spyware aside... tlauncher is such a better launcher than normal minecraft launcher has ever been. You can make your own working modpacks within the launcher, it has the entire cursed forge of mods in it, all the mods are in folders of versions, instead of just all of minecraft, so you dont have to change anything, and thats just mods. I bought the official minecraft launcher about a year ago and god did.i need to get usee to that abomination for a while. Especially needing to download every version of forge/fabric if you ever wanted to play modded.
Although i bought Minecraft like 3 times -xbox 360, pe and java- playing with a non-premium account feels cozier and more nostalgic to me. Back then, Notch had a very nonchalant attitude towards others playing his game for free, even offering Team Avolition a chance to host MinecraftForFree if they won the match.
I've brought it many times on the xbox (lost track of what account it was brought on, scratched disks, etc) and nowdays its just more convinient. no 2faor having to check the randomly password each time i launch the game.
Actually, the reason for the existence of pirate launchers is much more complex than ‘poor Russians’: 200X - 2014: 1. When Mojang was not yet bought by Microsoft, the official version of Minecraft was only available on some poorly made site somewhere on the internet. However, the main reason is not that the site was bad, but that at first you could only buy Minecraft by payment with PayPal, which was not available at that time in Russia. 2. Later, when they added card payment, the bank that processed the payment for some reason STILL did not support most Russian bankcards because of some bank delays. 3. Even with all these problems, there were still people who could still buy, but there was another problem, the whole site was in English, even though there had been Russian in Minecraft for a long time. 4. The official website looks just ugly. 5. Some scam-looking site offered to send $30 to nowhere, with no guarantees. (If you get scammed, you will not go to America/Europe to sue them). 2014 - 2022: 6. Microsoft came in and added normal payment services, things started to change. People started buying licensed Minecraft. (The main reason was Russian youtubers, who started recording a lot of videos about how they play on servers like Hypixel, which supported joins only from licensed Minecraft) 7. Then came another problem: vanilla Minecraft is boring for everyone now, and Microsoft never bothered about official support of mods. Imagine that a friend called you to play Minecraft with mods. Ofc, it was easier to install them just through modpack through launchers like TL, rather than separately download 100+ files, and then install them manually. 8. In Minecraft has not yet implemented the ability to play together with friends. Even a banal p2p was not been made. (Everyone had to use Hamachi or Radmin). 9. Still, no regional prices... $30 for cubes... After 2022: 10. And now they just don't want to take our money… Actually, the main reason is that initially when there was a rising in the popularity of Minecraft there was a huge problem with accessibility. Imagine yourself as MC’s target audience. (a 10-12 yo kid. Nah! U will be an even scarier creature - you are a 10-12 yo RUSSIAN kid.) You open google, looking for Minecraft downloading, then after opening the first link you meet some ugly site that looks like a scam, and also only in English (which you do not understand at all), and the second link opens a beautiful site, in Russian, which offers to download the same game, but for free, and also with automatic installation of any modifications. The situation really changed in 2015, a lot of people started to buy an official licence, I myself used TL with a licensed Mojang account for a very long time. Then my friends told me about MultiMC and I switched to it. Now companies themselves do not want to take our money, most people just say: ‘If they don't want to take our money, then they just don't need it, so we'll just download what we want and play however we want.’
Так точно, друг мой. Я сам однажды купил лицензию, лишь чтобы играть на лицензионных серверах. По факту, все остальные достоинства лицензии несущественны по сравнению с вышесказанным.

I wouldn't even call it a pirated version, it's quite a bit different from minecraft, you have OC character in it two over all it just feels like a modified version of minecraft.
Yes, notch allowed piracy and even published free version. Notch also publicly engaged in party that was in favour of piracy. Microsoft can't take it back
privet ptivet from russia!! the reason why a lot of russian people rather play pirated minecraft instead for a licensed one is pretty simple: spending almost 3000 rubles for a game you can download completely for free is a little bit crazy, that's also the reason why sites with pirated games are still pretty popular in russia. i don't know that much about eaglecraft so i can't say anything about it. sadly, a lot of people are actually still using tlauncher just because of his popularity, and they don't care that much about these shady things that tlauncher had for its entire history. almost the same thing happened to klauncher, but i don't really know about it that much. legacy launcher is probably the best pirated minecraft launcher in russia, atleast you can turn off ads in the launcher for free lol. about server using they own launcher, they're almost completely fine (except for vimeworld, it's community is trash), i mean a lot of these launchers using modified version of minecraft, which can't join any other server except for the server it's referred to. for example, you can't even create a world in singleplayer using cristallix launcher, you just don't have a button to play single, so i guess it isn't that bad actually alr that's all i wanted to say poka poka!!

Yes, but only people who paid for the game can join that one (unless you run it in an offline mode, which actually turns off a key security feature, which is encryption - plus it's actually against ToS to run a publicly available Minecraft server in offline mode - it is indeed considered running a pirated server).

The plethora of server-specific cracked Minecraft launchers mentioned at the end of the video that exist here in Russia are usually created when a server is modded in some way, therefore such clients attempt to streamline the mod/resourcepack download process as most young players will struggle to even find the AppData folder on their computer. Why don't they simply use the instance export/import feature from MultiMC-based launchers? I dunno.
I'm not sure MultiMC launcher is capable of supporting third-party auth services and third-party client builds support, which most of modded west-european servers are using
@@bonenaut7 I know for certain it is capable of supporting custom minecraft jars (some forks of MultiMC can even download Forge, Fabric, ModLoader, LiteLoader & other popular modloaders at a button's press), but third-party authentication is a valid argument in favor of making a custom launcher

There are situations when a person simply cannot afford to buy a game - one can understand his situation: the same Notch in 2012 showed such condescension and understanding towards such players so that they had the opportunity to at least try the game. But it’s terrible when people begin to neglect this and manipulate it for their own benefit. What’s especially scary is that this “free” download can cause serious harm to the user’s computer. I am very upset by the attitude of players towards piracy in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet - I will continue to bring information to people about this harm. Thanks for your input too! Eaglercraft is so popular to the point I even made a large archive of every version of it, and I am still well involved in the community even when I got a legit Minecraft Bedrock + Java account.
If I'm not mistaken: From the cristalix launcher you can't connect anywhere but their server (after clicking to play, it immediately connects to the server, without choosing servers, I don't know how it works with other modes like pixelmon or others, but on minigames it works) Vime world seems to be accessible from any launcher, maybe they just advertise their launcher, I don't know. I haven't visited in a long time
TL Legacy was also tooken down not too long ago. I genuinely never knew there were that many pirated launchers for Minecraft. Goes to show how goated minecraft is
In the spanish speaking community of Minecraft, the term is premium Minecraft (Paid game) and No-Premium Minecraft (Pirate Game), the community is so united that the no-premium are allowed in the mayority of servers, but having extra-security mesures. For me this is normal, because in the hispanic community always there is a no-premium mayority, simply because there is a lot of people without the money or simply because all in the community is very adapted to no-premium people, with some limitations, but still people use Launchers that doesnt require buy minecraft. PD: I use Battly Launcher a spanish launcher that has both premium and no-premium. Is getting very popular in the hispanic community because of the transparency of the owner and being a very good personalised launcher.
Same here. I maintain a server with crossplay for bedrock, java, and eagler. We were able to convince our computers teacher to let us play it as actually classwork.
Interesting video. I wonder what the best approach Mojang could do to tackle this. I think clients like Eaglercraft and TL Legacy are not nearly as bad as TLauncher and KLauncher. So it seems a bit of an unfortunate backfire that the more legit clients are probably going to succumb to the shady clients. I wonder if the free Minecraft classic mode in the past actually lowered the amount of free minecraft clients in the past. Since it's pretty much a good "demo" of the game -- perhaps Mojang could bring back a kind of demo version of the game. It would also make it easier to convince people to pcikup a full version of the game, so it makes financial sense too.
I hope they do nothing. The original launcher and games have censorship and account ban and you have to use a microsoft account. Its much easier to just download a pirated version and just put a fake name and play on it. 60% easier and less time consuming. And you have no harm if you lose a account, because you never had one lol.
I've implemented a library for launching minecraft before. Mojang doesn't secure any of the download endpoints for minecraft behind any type of user authentication. This means that if you know what endpoints to hit, then it is trivial to download Java edition from Mojang's own servers and play the game without a license. So travail, in fact , I added a clause to the licence for the library I wrote that disallows piracy. Since getting sued by mojang is not something I'm interested in experiencing.
You can't buy minecraft in Russia. Mojang will not sell it to you. So this launchers are the only way. And I think the government even legalized pirating from microsoft a while back
You can buy a gift code and redeem it even in Russia. But it costs like an AAA game in Steam (which seems too much when comparing with other games, e.g. Factorio) and requires much more effort... Downloading cracked launcher is just faster and easier.
It's kinda weird that Russian Minecraft servers actually REQUIRE cracked Minecraft launchers. Maybe Mojang should add some anti-crack code so… oh wait, that will also give them the power to arbitrarily kick out legit launchers they don't like. Edit: modding would also be affected as well.
Nah, Mojang is already rich, their game being cracked is probably almost nothing for them. They probably recover the money of their game being pirated on that knockoff Fortnite mine-bucks store or something in the bedrock edition.
Who would've thunk it that the only competition a shady pirated version of Minecraft would receive would be another shady pirated version of Minecraft? Also can we just talk about how Nintendo can take down emulators and fan projects but Mojang can't remove pirated versions of Minecraft? That is truly insane.
@@detto1998 first of all neither of them can so shit in Russia and second I never said anything about nintendo not being able to touch ruyu, well even though it can't really do much about it
Sometimes, people simply prefer the cracked launcher to the official one, despite having an official account. I'm from Russia and somehow managed to get my hands on an official account (it cost a fuck ton but it's worth it), and yet I still use Legacy Launcher (which allows using official accounts), simply due to it's simplicity and nostalgia.

Eaglercraft reminds me of when I used to go to a cyber cafe almost every day to play Minecraft on a TeamExtreme Launcher that they had installed in their computers.
Back in highschool i remember being mind blown and confused seeing somebody playing Eaglercraft on the Chromebook in browser and playing on servers had no idea this existed at all or it being possible to run inside a browser pretty fascinating
i went through this myself, you can buy a gift key to redeem on your own microsoft account for 8$ or so and thats a fair bit safer than playing on a stolen acc
Eaglercraft had a giant surge in popularity in my school last year. I was part of a kind of small SMP, and also tried to make my own server. People still play it now at my school... I think. Either that or it's just my friend group doing so.
I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in addition to launchers here in Russia, licensed account stores at very low prices are very common and popular (50-100 rubles ($1) per account minimum). At the same time, several people often have access to one individual account, and the account on some licensed servers is banned immediately after purchase (of course, most often on the Hypixel server). Usually small and large TH-camrs have these stores. If a player has a license, then there is a fairly high probability that he bought it in such a store.
usually, big servers force their own launchers usage either because they are modded servers (and you can't properly install curseforge modpacks on cracked MC, so this is pretty much the only way to easily install a server's modpack without hassle), or because it is easier to prevent hacking this way, since the launcher checks your installed mods before launching the game.
preventing hacking maybe makes sense. But If it would only came down to being easier then nothing qould prevent them from making both methods possible (their launcher and listing all the mods so someone can install them by themeselves)
Now come on, you can't tell me the modern Minecraft website is a souless corporate place, its got a lot of Minecraft specific personality, the original site was a standard old website with a dirt png. Theres a lot to complain about how Minecraft is run nowadays, but this is silly
As russian minecraft player, who wasn't able to buy Minecraft for a long time can say that TLauncher still damn popular in Russia, to save my friends from it at one point I just gave up and buy like 5 Minecrafts for them. Each one cost me 2000₽ (in comparison one coke can cost around 50₽) and so I can say that even though I have official Minecraft, if I need to use unofficial one Legacy Launcher is one that I'm using. I own three copies of Minecraft but I found out tlauncher exists and it has such a good built-in modding system and it also supports texture packs and other things it's just so much better than the main launcher and you can use it offline I already purchased Minecraft so I'm not making them lose out on anything
@@Olflix I think it is not about money. Just imagine that you are a russian 8 years old kid, and you just discovered Minecraft. You type in the browser (in russian) "download Minecraft" and the third result that you get is tlauncher, which promises you Minecraft for free. This launcher installs and sets up everything for you so you don't have to bother yourself. Later you acknowledge the existence of servers through TH-cam (of course, russian servers). It is just historical that most russian servers are cracked. Practically, the only thing you need the licensed version for is to play on licensed servers, which are mostly English speaking. Here in Russia English language is not known as widely as in rest of Europe, so you, as a 8 year old, doesn't speak it either. So, to sum everything up: you install cracked because it's easier to install. You don't feel like buying an actual game because all you need you can get in cracked Minecraft. Inability to pay for the actual game is secondary issue. I hope I made myself clear.
As a Russian got to say that for us piracy is pretty much part of our day to day life, having a Torrent client is as expected as having a browser installed. With steam it was toned down a bit because of regional pricing, but with political events of today, we went back to piracy. As for Minecraft, it always was considered free, nobody really thought of buying minecraft, maybe only to play at Hypixel. It's because minecraft is so easy to pirate, because a lot of servers require using their own launcher, and of course 30 dollars is just too much for a Russian kid to pay for a game. Also, because android is more popular here than iphones, pocket edition is also pirated quite often. By the way, same thing goes for post-soviet countries such as: Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, etc.

Actually, the reason for the existence of pirate launchers is much more complex than ‘poor Russians’:
200X - 2014:
2014 - 2022:
6. Microsoft came in and added normal payment services, things started to change. People started buying licensed Minecraft. (The main reason was Russian youtubers, who started recording a lot of videos about how they play on servers like Hypixel, which supported joins only from licensed Minecraft)
After 2022:
10. And now they just don't want to take our money…
Actually, the main reason is that initially when there was a rising in the popularity of Minecraft there was a huge problem with accessibility.

I belive thats already a thing, at least in the Bedrock version.

Since getting sued by mojang is not something I'm interested in experiencing.
any links or repo? For research purposes
"anti-crack code" doesn't exist. There's no way to add code that couldn't just be easily removed.
@@its5pm True. Mods would also be another reason against such a thing as "anti-crack code", if it even exists (like the person above pointed out).

Heyy, epic. I’m one of the staffs at archmc and we appreciate the recognition.
Same, but mainly because i don't play it often and official launcher updates take a huge amount of time when they happen...
Same situation, but different launcher. Rulauncher.
посмотрев это видео, со слезой вспомнил как начинал играть в майнкрафт и как проводил сотни часов на разных серверах и около 10-ка лаунчеров на моём компьютере для разных серверов
Here is the English version
After watching this video, I remembered with tears how I started playing Minecraft and how I spent hundreds of hours on different servers and about 10 launchers on my computer for different servers
@@PixelFragsYTyou can Just use build in youtube translate comment function.
hoped you enjoy some of my help for the eaglercraft vid :)

0:33 HA! AssPixel😂😂
Actually now you can't buy Minecraft in Russia, so popularity of cracked launchers is reasonable
you can, but no one wants to spend money on a game you can pirate and have same stuff as people who paid for it
@@MiTasknot at all, i played cracked 4 years ago all the servers are absolute dog shit
In russia pirated Minecraft, was more popular way before all of that, Tlancher exist for allmost a decadeso, so it's just an excuse right now
i went through this myself, you can buy a gift key to redeem on your own microsoft account for 8$ or so and thats a fair bit safer than playing on a stolen acc
@@MiTaskhello MiTask ;)
5:05 Seems like regular bedwars players from what I saw on Techno's chahnel...
MiTask and Ndendena are legends.

usually, big servers force their own launchers usage either because they are modded servers (and you can't properly install curseforge modpacks on cracked MC, so this is pretty much the only way to easily install a server's modpack without hassle), or because it is easier to prevent hacking this way, since the launcher checks your installed mods before launching the game.
preventing hacking maybe makes sense. But If it would only came down to being easier then nothing qould prevent them from making both methods possible (their launcher and listing all the mods so someone can install them by themeselves)
There are also projects like Gravit Launcher - which essentially allow anyone to create their own hacked versions of Minecraft for their own servers.
Here where i live, i see everyone use TLauncher,
Tbh i did for a bit too
Its because the dollar in our country is so expensive
1:03 I mean the modern website is actually interesting looking imo but ok
small fact: Cristalix is made by demaster59ru, the same one who left a comment about russian servers
1:54 here it says minCEraft instead of minecraft
in normal minecraft there is a 1/10000 chance of getting this easter egg (maybe smaller)
It isn’t actual Minecraft, he said it right after, and look at the bottom left for a couple seconds, it says eaglercraft
i need a World's First Pirated Minecraft *Uncracked* that can play Official Hypixel Skyblock and ignores DMCA (preretrators don't live USA)
7:26 It says Minecraft 1.20.6 lmao. They're in the future.
garfield would 100% beat mario in a fight, just saying
lasagna

Now come on, you can't tell me the modern Minecraft website is a souless corporate place, its got a lot of Minecraft specific personality, the original site was a standard old website with a dirt png. Theres a lot to complain about how Minecraft is run nowadays, but this is silly
TheMisterWhiner, can't expect anything better. Great comment
It at least don't have ads and can say tested om myself, my pc is fine with it.
As legit owners, we are forced to also download a crack if our friends also don't own Minecraft.
I'm sorry, but minecraft is not worth 25 bucks, maximum I would pay is 5 bucks
what makes you say that?
@@ahhlewis gotta agree with him. 30 dollars for a block game is just too much. Wild how nobody seems to care
@@AquaCobalt because lots of people think having thousands of hours of entertainment is worth 30£
@@ahhlewis I don't think anybody thought that. Don't get me wrong, I love minecraft, but I can't see myself paying that much for it. Bedrock costs about 7 bucks and it's still Minecraft.
For russians buying legit minecraft is also just kinda difficult these times
and its just pointless when you can pirate it

@@redna_menimoh back then information and marketing of Minecraft official site were still limited. Your average schoolkid most likely didn't even know they had to buy it, or they knew but it was "somewhere" with no clear idea how much it would cost and how to do it. Plus incomes suck anyway
@@svuvichI remember me being a russian kid. I bought Minecraft in 2013, for about 500 roubles, and this was good price. And now both Minecraft and usd prices went up, so Minecraft is just too expensive. You really can buy three Factorio copies for the same price! And the war made all things worse, as you are unable to buy Minecraft directly now, you must use third-parties to buy a gift code you will redeem...
nah bro I play eagler during class

I own three copies of Minecraft but I found out tlauncher exists and it has such a good built-in modding system and it also supports texture packs and other things it's just so much better than the main launcher and you can use it offline I already purchased Minecraft so I'm not making them lose out on anything

Japan doesn't like that... LOL
Imagine not having actual minecraft
Imagine
Official launcher from such company just worse then some pirate cracked stuff, even if i have it bought
Imagine blaming people in third world countries like Russia and Turkey for not having enough money to buy actual minecraft
I have actual minecraft, I just use eagler when I can't access it.
Privilaged ass. I am sorry but piracy will continue and no one of you "hyper moralists" will be able to stop it. Cry about it
3:01 does eaglecraft always say “minCEraft” in the title or did u find that rare Easter egg
It always does say that
As a Russian got to say that for us piracy is pretty much part of our day to day life, having a Torrent client is as expected as having a browser installed.
Not in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania despite being post Soviet nations.
