I've got a G6 (in Sweden) and have driven 1000 Km in 4 days. I agree the car is amazing except for one little thing. It can't drive in a straight line ! The xpeng name for lane control is LCC, and as you say it's mostly useful on highways and roads with clearly visible markings. The problem is that the steering wheel is twitching back and forth constantly. You either get aching arms if you try to wrestle against it, or you get a neck ache from your head bouncing left and right. Did you not experience that? I also have a VW ID3, and that car goes like on railway tracks on the same roads.
Thanks for your videos. I'm been watching your video for a while now. I'm a Tesla shareholder since 2019 and have been buying since. My question to you is, since you're waiting for delivery whose car did you use for the road trip? Did you rent it, a friend's car or did Xpeng lend to a car to test drive?

@@robbieb8274 Hence "premium". Although there is also basic connectivity for maps. Well worth $10/month for premium connectivity in the Tesla. What is available in the Xpeng?
This issue is not the car itself, but we are headed toward self driving and only Tesla is on the way there. Other car companies need to license FSD to compete.

Will be interesting to see how they go. They look like really good value with some design features I'd prefer to Tesla. A 10 yr warranty gives some peace of mind too. Looks like an EV company that has been paying close attention to what Tesla has been doing well, and, on first glance, I prefer their less minimalistic design choices in many places.
This it’s completely 100% truth! But in just couple months we will have on the market model Juniper. What we “know” it’s look like the new Tesla model Y will be much more advanced then previous model Y, and much more better then this model G6…. So wait, do not buy “old” model Y, do not buy this mode G6, be patient and in just a couple months we will see everything 🙌🏻.
But Sam the charger you have on your Video is the Tritium 50kw and 100kw charger, so no faster to any other EV. 350kw chargers are hard to find and generally more expensive per KWH rate.
Yeah from what I have read, 800 volt architecture needs 800 volt chargers, on a 400 volt charger it would be slower than an equivalent 400 volt car. I can't see 800 volt chargers coming too Australia in numbers for a long time.
Owning a Tesla Y i drove 2 large BYD models. Suspension kinda „better“ - more comfortable, but on/over the edge having 500hp accelerating in a curve. I found 2 downsides: Userinterface difficult: too many buttons on the steering wheel and you dont know when the lane assist is on or not. And what drove me crazy: my european „dynamic“ driving style with fast accelleration and lane changes and quick, controlled stops alsways made the hazard warning lights flash. Not really an extreme emergancy braking action but just a dynamic little bit harder braking. May be correct for US drivers but not in EU.
My comparison of Tesla Model 3 and Y to BYD Atto 3 and Dolphin. BYD seems have a lot of plastic and does seem cheapish and Atto 3 has weird things, think door handles and guitar strings. BYD probably good cars but if I had the choice would choose Tesla despite the higher price tag. Hopefully Tesla will cut prices again soon to offset this.
Australia is pretty cheap for charging even on superchargers, would have been about 65c a kwh on DC fast charging, he would have averaged around 17.5kwh per 100km , so assuming he started with a fully charged car, would have been about $295 if he arrived home with about 100km of range left. This would be worse case, AC charging is about half that price and he may have accessed free charging overnight at places where he stayed, reducing the cost further.
Same in uk, my old diesel used to be cheaper I got 53 mpg, however that’s only on road trips. 90% of most driving you would do on home charger which is about 1/10 the cost of public high speed. So actual fuel costs likely to be less than half the diesel cost provided you have a home charger & a good overnight electricity price.

Xpeng G6 in comparison to Tesla Model Y is like comparing apples to oranges. Think superchargers, proven track record in Australia. I would wait before entertaining the idea of buying an Xpeng G6. Tesla Model Y is about to release the Juniper refresh, and it is possible cut down models are coming. Personally, I will be waiting to see what Tesla come out with.
If you take the long range G6 and then spec a model Y to the same extent - it’s 61k vs 85k for the model Y … that’s insane Tesla sales will plummet on the back of this 😮
I would say you can't spec the G6 long range to the Model Y long range because the Model y has 60% more power and AWD. G6LR drive away $64.7k vs MYLR $77.4k (at least in my State)
Yes sorry Americans you can't have nice EVs at reasonable prices because your politicians want to protect a select group of union jobs. The 99% of the population that doesn't work for the auto unions will have to pay an extra $20K-$30K per car
The proposition that the G6 is good value is referenced by the price and features of the model Y which are not cadt in stone. Looking ahead to the inevitable price refuction, there is a cheaper Chinese G,6 with a spec of 18inch wheels and less soft touch interior surfaces, it us just US$25k (A$37k) In my view this version, with a healthy A$12k markup, for sale at, lets say, $49k would steal sales from Atto 3 and the Model Y.
It's interesting how many buyers are willing to buy a vehicle from a company that isn't profitable! Might want to talk to Fisker owners for how that turned out!
I here’s a question for you to ask Xpeng why does the car need servicing Tesla doesn’t need servicing why do all the other manufacturers need their cars serviced. Xpeng don’t have dealerships.
@@serpserpserp i’m talking about scheduled servicing, were you’re forced to go in and pay a fixed amount of money every year for the at least the life of the warranty. Yes. I just did a search. G6 is only $1000 cheaper. How long do you think Tesla will let that stand? When G6 releases end of October, Tesla will drop price to match. And FSD is close to completion. Model Y for sure!
Tesla won't give you 800 voltage with the new juniper for sure. If you said even with FSD you need to pay at least 72K. 14k more than G6 enhanced autopilot. If you buy the model y standard + choosing colour + enhanced autopilot it will cost you 62k + 5k = 67k, it is about 10k different. So it is not 1k cheaper. And you also get about 2k free charger + installation fee.
@peteholliday1927 this isn't even correct this price difference isn't that big. Besides it can't be spec for spec because the Model Y LR has 60% more power and AWD
@@user-nk1qg7ze9w no. MY long range is 533 km while the G6 LR is 570 km. Even 0-100km of MY is 5s but the price of MY LR is AUD 76,000 + AUD 1500 choosing colour + enhanced autopilot AUD 5,100 = AUD 82,600 to compare with AUD 63,000 of the G6 LR. The difference is nearly AUD 20,000. If you don't choose enhanced autopilot that you can't compare with the G6 standard inclusive.

My concern would be for software. I have an MG4. It is an excellent car but let down by its software. I could be wrong…..maybe Xpeng has better software than the SAIC/MG cars.
What about the Telsa safety, battery management and ongoing feature updates at no cost. I cannot imagine that xpeng are anywhere near Tesla on this front. Tesla is the iphone phone of the EV car market, the rest are samsung class
What’s there to fix? The brake, wheels and other moving parts will need maintenance or replacement, nothing your neighbourhood shops can’t do. Software upgrade is online.
Not very smart to buy before MY upgrade. Also nobody knows how this thing will age (unless you buy another one in 2 years). Reliability is key when you buy a car (not the colour).
The value on a capital investment that most people will expect to use for many years cannot really be judged when you buy it. Yes the initially delivered product may offer more than a competitor's product and come at a lower price. What if the lower priced car comes from a company that has not yet made a profit? Would you not be concerned if in a few years you will still get software updates or spare parts. What about resell value? What about materials used and the resulting reliability and durability? It is a complex situation and I think that in your presentation any cost factors that will influence the cost to own make way to the enthusiasm you developed what you get for the money when you drive the car out from the sales point

@@robbieb8274 Hence "premium". Although there is also basic connectivity for maps. Well worth $10/month for premium connectivity in the Tesla.
What is available in the Xpeng?
Does it need one it has car play and android auto 😮but yes it has both I believe
So the Model Y is better in terms of practicality?
This issue is not the car itself, but we are headed toward self driving and only Tesla is on the way there. Other car companies need to license FSD to compete.
I will ONLY believe it when I see a fully self driving Tesla car!
@@alblack9869 - Watch October 10th and you will see how far along they are.
Really I don't even like my wife driving my cars why would I let the car drive itself?
I like driving and always turn off all the bloody assists but do confess to liking rear cross traffic alert.
@@enforcer41 - I can understand that, but it could be useful for so many things like for the elderly, keeping them safer, celebrations a little overdone, and so many other reasons. I don't have 8 eyes and cannot see every angle at every moment. This could save so many lives.
I will be on my next EV before self driving is a thing in Australia.
If it has indicator stalks then its 1 up over the new model y face lift that is coming
Servicing at Ultratune? No thanks. Based on the hype from Sam, base price shoulda been $50k on road not $60k. Watch them drop price to that level in 6 months time.
For clarity it's 7k cheaper than Tesla Y LR based on driveway costs. You do of course get the charger and free delivery with the Xpeng G6 Long.
But you get 60% less power and no AWD
Will be interesting to see how they go. They look like really good value with some design features I'd prefer to Tesla. A 10 yr warranty gives some peace of mind too. Looks like an EV company that has been paying close attention to what Tesla has been doing well, and, on first glance, I prefer their less minimalistic design choices in many places.
Yeah, by stealing Tesla technology for which, Xpeng got sued.
Ten year warranty? I thought it's five?
@@Fomites I dunno. Had a poke around on the Australian website before I commented. Pretty sure it said 10 yrs. Maybe I was looking at the wrong thing?
And let’s see in a year if it is about to take the place as the no 1 sold car in the world 😁
This it’s completely 100% truth!
Correct, that is what I am doing.
I think you're underestimating the importance of software which is where Tesla excels. The same reason iPhones are so popular.
The seamlessness of Tesla is unmatched. And again the refresh is around the corner and am sure it will deliver.
Also, your data goes back to HQ. As an Aussie would you prefer it goes to Beijing or California?
@@michaelnurse9089 It doesn't matter to me.
Exacly, he's the one that's missing the point. Specifications different from Implementation.
iphones suck
looking for that video where you said XPENG would go broke ages ago
@@trythis2821 i drove BYD Tan and BYD Han. More Model X and Model S competitors for a Y and 3 price tag.
The one thing you didn't tell us, how much did it cost you to do 3000km while charging on public chargers.
@@GDM22so about the same cost as doing the trip in a 2lt turbo diesel.
@@Paul-b2s4j Yeah most likely, diesels prefer highway cruising EVs prefer mixed urban.
Game over for Tesla
LoL
Its not funny,Its so soooo sad!

For $4,500 extra - and 180 km less range - I will NOT buy Tesla!

Yes it is
The Hyundi/kai same range with the larger tires.
£36k+ in the UK, where’s the £16k price from?
The proposition that the G6 is good value is referenced by the price and features of the model Y which are not cadt in stone. Looking ahead to the inevitable price refuction, there is a cheaper Chinese G,6 with a spec of 18inch wheels and less soft touch interior surfaces, it us just US$25k (A$37k) In my view this version, with a healthy A$12k markup, for sale at, lets say, $49k would steal sales from Atto 3 and the Model Y.
Maybe.... are they making a profit, did I miss this part or did you miss it...?
It's interesting how many buyers are willing to buy a vehicle from a company that isn't profitable! Might want to talk to Fisker owners for how that turned out!
Exactly, the profits going to shareholders must be coming from somewhere...the buyers maybe?
Why buy a copy, when you can get the original?
I take it you've only bought Ford combustion cars, given they are the original
I here’s a question for you to ask Xpeng why does the car need servicing Tesla doesn’t need servicing why do all the other manufacturers need their cars serviced. Xpeng don’t have dealerships.
Tesla don't have dealerships... All EVs get serviced, just wiper and brake fluids, probably other random stuff. None of it is costly on any EV.
@@serpserpserp i’m talking about scheduled servicing, were you’re forced to go in and pay a fixed amount of money every year for the at least the life of the warranty.
The schedule servicing really isn’t that cheap could be anything from $2500-$5000 over a five year period and they do sweet fuck all for it.
To screw you after the sale.
Tesla no need!!

XPeng coming in just under Tesla, maximising $$'s from Australian consumers
Is there a Frunk ?
No
Yes. I just did a search. G6 is only $1000 cheaper. How long do you think Tesla will let that stand? When G6 releases end of October, Tesla will drop price to match. And FSD is close to completion. Model Y for sure!
You get more as standard on the G6 for the same price. It's clear the G6 is better.
A long ranged spec vs spec of both G6 and model Y is 85k vs 61k - Tesla gonna eat shit 😮
Maybe these cars should be priced in “wage/hour equivalents”, by that I mean how many house’s wage for the average worker in place they are made. The race to the bottom in globalization may be inevitable, but that doesn’t mean we should give in without a fight.
Teslas are made in China too mate... Half of Teslas sold worldwide are made in China, and all the ones sold in Australia (which is the context for this comparison video)

What’s there to fix? The brake, wheels and other moving parts will need maintenance or replacement, nothing your neighbourhood shops can’t do. Software upgrade is online.
There is no way that cars heat pump is as good as Teslas.
