Totally. He is great. He writes and plays very memorable and important drum parts. People can say what they want about his technical skills...but Metallica sound good, don't they? He is the perfect drummer for their band. To drums, he is essentially what Johnny Ramone was to guitar. People forget that the song is the most important thing. Serve the song. It isn't about how many strokes or fancy techniques you can pull off during a fill or groove..it is about how you serve the song...and Lars does that perfectly.

When I listened the "And Justice For All" album I was very impressed and teached myself to play every song. I've been a fan of Lars and Metallica since 15 years ago when I was a teenager and I will listen to them till the day I die.

For anyone wondering about that snare. It's not actually a bell brass snare as Lars says it is. the model number is LU1465B30. It's his normal chrome signature snare you can buy, but the special 30th anniversary edition that is coated black. It is still 3mm of steel, not bell brass. (unless Lars has some secret snare that is disguised to look like that one but is actually a Tama bell brass underneath, but I doubt it.)
