I thought that Dave's performance was best. I liked his interpretation from 24:48 onward was more on point than the others. Loved Brandon's interpretation as well, very dynamic and full of feels. Great set, all!!!
I love Dave's Power fills and the expression on Dave's face when he first started getting his sea legs😜 , Dylon had killer stick work , Brandon great feel all great drummers
To me the best and most interesting performance was dave's(tasty gloves and fills, I really dug it 😎👌)Brandon was solid and I loved the cymbal smash accent and the double time power 😊👍 Dylan was more a straight shot and professional(like a session drummer playing a low key track so not too much)all of you did great in a different way and I love when you do this, showing different views and play styles of the same song 👏
What's so refreshing about this is the raw human performance they all gave. Honest and leaving it all on the table. Some small glitches and scrapes but all part of the first time round play through and illustrative the real everyday drummer experience. I loved it all from all three guys. The moments of slight grit and dirt is what I enjoyed most as iit should the honesty and conviction of each player as they tried to perfectly execute their initial ideas for the piece after only one listen through. Human yet professional at the same time. I hope this is a reoccurring bit for this channel and it's contributors. Too often we see the perfect performance and never the behind the scenes work that lead up to that final perfect take. insightful and shows off the drumeo talent in a great light! I loved this video! More episodes of this theme please
For me, the second drummer struck the best balance between serving the song (being symbiotic with and being enhancing to the music) and showcasing himself. The choices he made made me want to listen to the music/piece more than I felt with the other two.
1. Dylan. Dylan’s take was the coolest. His fills were most exciting, he started with a tight hihat, ghost notey groove before opening it up and going to ride and his dynamics and feel were by far the best. 2. Brandon. He played pretty busy and not tasteful or good busy imo, but I did like that he went into a double time groove. HOWEVER I think the double time groove would’ve been way cooler with the snares on 1 and 3. 3. David. Nothing in his performance surprised me or really caught me off guard. I thought he played pretty cymbal heavy with a lot of ride and it made the dynamics feel one dimensional. Dylan is my pick. No question. 🤷♂️
This channel and format is so good. These guys are all incredible together. I keep getting sucked into this channel, and I’m getting closer to getting my first kit. Thanks for all you do and the great production you all produce.
I want to see so many more of these! It's awesome seeing the Drumeo guys tear it up on the kit!! And as impressive and badass as Dave and Brandon's were, I think I liked Dylan's the best. He still did some really cool, technically impressive stuff, but it fit within the song the best of the three instead of covering it up
All 3 great. For me, 1st guy Brandon started out too full on though and didn't take it down anywhere. 2nd dude, Dylan had the best performance imho, musical, changed it up, smooth grooves on point. Gave the piece space to breathe. That flam stop💪3rd geezer, Dave had a better 1st half of the song. Too many fills flying by overall. Fill at 25.00 was super, watched that just a few times:) Hats off gents! Be interesting too to hear these guys go up against each other again with a track they can digest for a while.
❤Dave was most exciting🎉 great hand technique, Brandon was powerful and Dylan was imho more connected to flourishes on the cymbal. All good but I liked Dave.😊
Man...what can I say ...I loved all 4 versions ..really..they were all creative and very musical .Don't have a favorite..I respect all 4 of you guys ..your a blast to watch and listen to ..great drum department episode ..Kyle ...your becoming a great host of the show...you make the show fun to watch and to listen to ...Steve ..
Second one guy was the best to me. If I was there, will let more space for music, create a tribal pattern just on toms and bass drum, a few touches on cymbals and NO snare, 'cause the original already has the clap sharp sound on 2nd and 4th tempos. .
Brandon best of the three, but all three did much better than I could. Can tell they are pros and I'm one of those dime a dozen drummers, but still SO MUCH FUN!! 😃
Dylan arguably has the best technique but Brandon plays with so much nuance. Creates this rolling sense of momentum in the song that ebbs and flows while staying regular.
mr 1 was out of his comfort zone....mr 2 for studio work..mr 3 woud love to hear on a pub jam session with a beer sounded the most natural to me.... go with the flow bro greetings from the land of cheese holland
This was fun. I’d have had a tough time deciding my vote had I caught this on live stream. Really enjoyed them all and just so impressed how well you guys did after one listen!
Brandon has quietly become one of my favorite drummers/educators. I think he could hold down the drum chair in most an big band touring right now. Dave and the Foo's? Give Brandon a call. New Rush tour? Brandon's got you. Brian Blade needs a vacation? Fellowship band rings up B-dog... I haven't heard any reggae tunes though. Perhaps that's his weakness. lol
I have the LCT 140 AIR’s which I BELIEVE are the same as the LCT 40’s but with a high end boost switch and I have MANY small diaphragm condensers including stereo pairs of Neumann KM 184’s, AKG C 451’s, AKG C 430’s, 3 Blue Hummingbirds and Slate Audio SL-2’s. I would say the Lewitt’s are my second favorite stereo pair of all the ones I have (second only to the Neumann’s), BUT they’re my favorite SDC’s for drum overheads in an XY when using in conjunction with LDC’s in a wide stereo spread, hands down. I can’t speak for the snare or kick mics, but the SDC’s are excellent overhead mics and so reasonably priced.
It seems to me like all drummers missed the time signature change at 11:37 but I enjoyed Brandon’s performance the most. Fantastic job by all though for great performances with no guidelines to follow
Soup to Nuts: American English idiom, desc. a full course dinner; from beginning to end. Also: a 1930's film of same name, starring the trio who later became the "Three Stooges" Therefore: think Dave, Brandon & Dylan as The Soup to Nuts Guys !! 😂 🤣thank you Wikipedia.
1. Dylan - I liked the use of toms, this also felt like part of the song, not just drumming over it 2. Dave - I liked the use of the hi-hat 3. Brandon - Too much cymbals, but overall not bad
Dylan by a wide margin. All excellent, but Dylan had more overall shape, tone, groove, more breathing space, was more connected to the details of the song. Yeah, he missed the last note -- but what a finish he was going for! By the way, "soup to nuts" is a fine dining metaphor. Solution X covers all "courses" from the soup to the post-desert nuts (and cheese?).
All 3 guys were fantastic! It was amazing that they all listened to the song just once, and then they all came out with an amazing drum performance that fit the whole format! I favored the last guy playing more than the other first 2, but doesn't mean I liked them any less. I hope there's more of these drum offs in the future as I really liked this a lot. Kudos to getting to watch all 3 bad@$$ drummers. Thanks. 👍😎 - ( it's sad that I just got to watch this 10 months after it was posted though ☹️)
I loved being the last minute -walk in - gun slinger - ringer - shit our Drummer just realized he’s double booked… we don’t care how you sound just be there by 7:30 for a 9:00 pm downbeat… Especial with good players… all we needed to do was NOT train wreck… Stewart Copeland said that the first take was almost always the best take… Sooo many players feel that way… Freedom… just keep your chops and your mind healthy… and play NOT with your shoulders arm, wrists and fingers… but with your heart , brain , eyes and ears…. I got a ton of call backs… but then the pressure was on.. know the arrangements… that was a lot less free or fun… Sidney Layman… early 1980s… keyboard player for the Airman of Note….kicked…my…butt…. SHE was the gun slinger… I was bruised for a week… all I could do was hang on and NOT suck…. But I got the call back. First takes… are the most fun
That was fun. All three did too much, sometimes less is more. But for the challenge, my choice is, 1. Dave, he was more in the art of the song. 2. Dylan and 3. Brandon.
First was more consistent on keeping time and song changes. Second had good feel but lacked a bit on precision on my personal opinion. Third took more risks and that made it interesting to watch. But precision-wise as for as how the takes went, I think the first one took the cake, for me, of course. But all of them had interesting ideas.
Brandon's was just awesome and epic, huge Taylor Hawkins feel, loved it! I feel like Dylan played to the track probably the best and just had amazing feel, fantastic! I love how defined Dave's sections were and I am a metal head through and through so i think he takes the cake for me
I want a recount 😆. So much fun doing this -- thanks for all the support! Great job to Brandon & Dave.
dang those single stroke fills
I liked your take the most.
Your take was best and I think the comments very clearly verify that.
You're won that contest bro. Great playing n great control👍🏻
Yours sounded the best to my ears, unofficial winner.
I liked Dylan's interpretation the most for his power and tastefulness that captures the track's spirit, but adds some more dynamic fills.
Dylan was the one where it felt like the Drums compliments the music track they played. Clean and subtle. I like his version way more than others.
1. Brandon - Jack of all trades, good groove as well
2. Dylan - master of space
3. Dave - master of ghost notes
I thought that Dave's performance was best. I liked his interpretation from 24:48 onward was more on point than the others. Loved Brandon's interpretation as well, very dynamic and full of feels. Great set, all!!!
Are you a musician?
Dylan understood the spirit of the composition, in my opinion. They were all awesome!
I love Dave's Power fills and the expression on Dave's face when he first started getting his sea legs😜 , Dylon had killer stick work , Brandon great feel all great drummers
Dylan - all the way! He served the song, the pauses were better, letting it breathe more -Imo, it was the most musical approach!
Dylan played what the song needed and called for. He gets my vote.
Dave's was the best for me! Very organic and natural
Never realized Dave was such a killer drummer.
Everyone at Drumeo is a killer drummer.
Love this 3 drummer 1 song stuff...Fun to watch..thx Drumeo😊

Showed* not should. Typo above

yes -- he elevated the music
1. Dylan. Dylan’s take was the coolest. His fills were most exciting, he started with a tight hihat, ghost notey groove before opening it up and going to ride and his dynamics and feel were by far the best.

Dylan followed the off beat accents of the backing track 1/4 way through. Powerful finish. So, Dylan.
Classic, Dylan 😆
@@dylanweightman Haha. Well, no one can argue with that self appraisal. Good one. 👍
AGREED!
Right?
#2 and #3, both killed it. #1 to show show drummerish for me. Over all# 2 for me
I love the host! he is a very camera friendly dude. Love the ballbusting ;] -m.Ando !
Dave killed it!!!
Hell yes he did! 🤣
BIG DADDY DAVE 📸
This was so much fun to watch 💯💯💯💯💯
This channel and format is so good. These guys are all incredible together. I keep getting sucked into this channel, and I’m getting closer to getting my first kit. Thanks for all you do and the great production you all produce.
Dylan had amazing feel and his ghost note volume was perfect for this track also had a vary consistent sounds all around the kit
Agreed on all points

Loved all the versions! Such different approaches and techniques from everyone, amazing to watch!
Best episode by far. They are ALL winners.
No, .... it's just a friendly competition, one winner.
It's healthy to know that the variables of life are not always in your favor.
@@patrickgelder-ph5yd Underrated comment. Nothing wrong with friendly competition to remain humble.

You are amazing lady, I smiled from ear to ear all the way through that and can’t stop. Thank you 😁❤️
Would love to hear Chris Coleman play his version :D
Live in the moment, bro.
❤Dave was most exciting🎉 great hand technique, Brandon was powerful and Dylan was imho more connected to flourishes on the cymbal. All good but I liked Dave.😊
Brandon absolutely won for me. So clean and ended exactly on time. Sounded well thought out.
Its was hot garbage
Yup he ticked the most boxes, got the form, had good ideas, clear fills, caught the ending
I'm seeing this far later than it was broadcast. No competition to me. I love and respect equally ALL of what each and every one of you do.
Second one guy was the best to me. If I was there, will let more space for music, create a tribal pattern just on toms and bass drum, a few touches on cymbals and NO snare, 'cause the original already has the clap sharp sound on 2nd and 4th tempos. .

Dylan arguably has the best technique but Brandon plays with so much nuance. Creates this rolling sense of momentum in the song that ebbs and flows while staying regular.
Everyone at Drumeo is an amazing drummer. It’s what they do.
Dave reminds me of how Dennis Chamberlin plays the double bass.
Watching everyone's head bobbing in sync with the music while they were taking notes was great content.
Dylan for sure. I didn't care for Brandon's George of the jungle beat in there, and Dave was overpowering the track.
Dylan's take was really good... Thought it captured what a great half way between Dave and Brandon would sound like
Hellfire I didn’t expect that out of Dave. What a monster. I loved his take. He took me by absolute surprise.
Dave shredded it. Think he nailed the ratio of chops to groove.
They all were great honestly.
Dylan, was more dynamic and complemented the song more!
Loved the breaks, and hitting the accents.
So much fun! I loved this, guys. Everyone did a fantastic job.
mr 1 was out of his comfort zone....mr 2 for studio work..mr 3 woud love to hear on a pub jam session with a beer sounded the most natural to me.... go with the flow bro
greetings from the land of cheese holland
First saw Dave in Langley playing with Yuca. Very impressed with his chops.
I love it when you guys do a drum of like this and may the best drummer win I just love it.
My money is on Brandon. He's learned and internalized so many Grooves, styles, and genres. He just will have a bigger tool box to create with.
This was just fantastic to watch!! Nail biting!! Such suspence! But a great learning. Thanx for putting this together.
Dylan did what is need to be done,,sound great for me too. . .Great Job for the all the three of you Guys. . i love Drumeo!
Dylan won it at 20:22.
Nobody else did this. Should've done it more.
This was fun. I’d have had a tough time deciding my vote had I caught this on live stream. Really enjoyed them all and just so impressed how well you guys did after one listen!
Very cool! Great job guys!
1st guy was too busy, 2nd guy had the best groove and fit them vibe. 3rd guy had best fills
I love the second guy tecnic. And the 3rd guy opener fills is awesome before the music go to kind of bridge🎉
Can tell your not a drummer like the other 13 people who liked that comment.
2nd
2nd Dylan, he serv the song and played with soul. Great tone control and ghost note. Ma vote from 🇲🇾 ✌🏻
Hahah lol naaa, the 3rd was the busiest and way to much played.
1st held the form consistently, didn't have too much variety and caught the ending
Dave blew the other two out of the water.
Yes, Dave was head and shoulders.
Enjoyed all 3. I vote Dylan. He let the song breathe. Very tasteful.
Brandon has quietly become one of my favorite drummers/educators. I think he could hold down the drum chair in most an big band touring right now. Dave and the Foo's? Give Brandon a call. All solid performances, I’m gonna give the edge to Dave his just had a little extra feel.

It seems to me like all drummers missed the time signature change at 11:37 but I enjoyed Brandon’s performance the most. Fantastic job by all though for great performances with no guidelines to follow
well played Dylan
I personally liked Dylan's playthrough the most, but they were all so good.
Brandon is a killer 🤘🏻 LETS FVKING GO BOYS! ❤
Don't know the name but the first drummer is definitely the one who best has interpreted the song. Great job again guys !
i go for Brandon, clean...and the progression is on point.
As someone with Synesthesia this was so cool. I loved them all❤❤

The 2nd guy with the grey shirt had very tasteful fills, and grooved a lot. All of the drummers did great, but the 2nd drummer was the best for me.
I LOVE THIS FORMAT !
I just heard this... Dylan. Voting Dylan. A bit late, by 7 months but still Dylan.
Awesome all of you!
Dave’s was most appropriate and I thought it sounded the best. I think he would’ve been hired as the studio musician to play it.

I like Brandon's the best. His buildups to the high points of the beat sounded logical and enhanced the song
Each of them played excellent but I think Dylan had the best feeling the best pocket for the song
This would be sooo fun! thanks for the video!

Numerrrrro DOS!!💪😎👍
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
“Aw come on, these are the best guys we could get?! 🥴” [immediately messes up the next line] 😂
1st and 3rd guy.. But the 3rd guy more groove i love it... Nice one he did it
1. Brandon - Tight playing with good ideas
2. Dave - Great, diverse, but a bit loose
3. Dylan - Nice ideas, but loose in many places
4:23 😂😂😂😂😂 LMAOOO
What’s the name of the track??
Dylan gave me chills ❤
First was more consistent on keeping time and song changes. Second had good feel but lacked a bit on precision on my personal opinion. Third took more risks and that made it interesting to watch. Awesome episode, you all rock guys!
Way too much conversation at the beginning guys. Still love Drumeo. Keep going with awesome videos.
Awesome video! Great drumming
That was impressive all around. I liked the first one the best just based on personal taste. They all played the song well.
Those cymbals. Gorgeous tones
Oh yeah, that was really great. I need more 🤘
Oh man, this is gonna be awesome!
I liked Dylan the best bc the drumming flowed with the music more. Brandon too much crash... Dave too predictable.
Brandon's was just awesome and epic, huge Taylor Hawkins feel, loved it!
I feel like Dylan played to the track probably the best and just had amazing feel, fantastic!
I love how defined Dave's sections were and I am a metal head through and through so i think he takes the cake for me
Never mind my bad Kyle wins
2nd performance
I was actually thinking of that little ride groove when I heard the track, but it's definitely a little busy sounding. All sounded good to me🤟🏻
DAVE did AWESOME. Cool little aditions to a standard beat rythm Brandon did good , Dylan was too booksafe for me
