I love this fight because it comes full circle into the very first movie. It wasn't about winning, it was about going the distance and proving that ,even as an old ass man, you're one of the best
it was also about releasing that "stuff from the basement"...Rocky won this fight, because in the end he was relieved from all the pain inside him that he held from his past losses (losing Adrian, losing his friend Apollo and his coach Mickey, losing the house and the fortune, getting brain damage from Drago, having not so good relationship with his son etc)
Almost all the hits were real, though toned down somewhat for the notable ones. This is true for the entire series, excluding the fifth with the alley fight
A win on points still counts as a win- and Rocky got knocked down more than 3 times, isn't that a tkd? In any case, he won, whether barely, or by a KO, he should be happy, maybe he thought by beat him, he would have had an easy fight, which wasn't the case.
I am so glad that Stallone pushed to have this movie made- a proper ending to one of the greatest film franchises of all time. The way that it was left in Rocky 5 didn't do justice to the series. This film was underrated in my opinion... I've heard some people say that it was too unbelievable, well, any more unbelievable than the first, an unknown, sloppy street fighter going 15 rounds with the world heavyweight champion? George Foreman came back at an older age and really shook up some younger fighters. Nothing is impossible if you have courage and determination.
Rocky V was a remake of Rocky 1 in the sense of, when they were fighting their own way, in the script, if it had been REAL fighting, it MIGHT have been a draw, because Rocky and Tommy were being equal to each other, every time they fought like street fighters, both doing heavy punching. Rocky only just won, due to knocking him out, with some more heavy punches.
The ending is even better when you know that this was a real audience that didn't know they were filming the movie until they came out and did it. They saw Sly in his gear and started cheering on their own. Sly with his arms up is really enjoying the fact that people still loved the character
On December 3rd, 2005 during the Bernard Hopkins Jermaine Taylor fight Stallone came out to a real audience to film the ring entrance. But most was filmed following that from December 5th through the 9th. The biggest day with extras filling the place was Tuesday, December 6th. There was still much to film with the fights after that for the next few days. They filmed the final fight then and there for that week and also shot Mason Dixon’s other fight that was happening at the beginning of the movie during the same exact place at the same time. Just made all of the extras in the crowd and in the seats move to other locations (other seats) and changed the lighting to make it appear to be different people at a different place at a different time…. I know all of this because I WAS THERE! Ringside for all of it! Got to meet Sly and Frank Stallone, Andy even got real hugs from Duke and Pauli!

The fact that rocky is pretty much able to stay on top of him in his 50s is just amazing and it shows that rocky would easily destroy him in his prime within 2 rounds or less
He couldn't pull off another Drago miracle- at that time, he was late 30s, and Drago was in his prime, it would have been a joke, A JOKE, if he had knocked out a man 30 years or so younger- thank God, the director made Dixon win this- that is a shade of realism, no 53 or 55 year old is winning a boxer in his prime, unless he is suffering from some sort of muscle weakness or fatigue syndrome.
Actually I did the math on Sylvester Stallone’s birthday at the time this was released he was 62 or 63 depending on what month it came out. Not to try and be a know it all however I thought you would find it interesting that he’s even older than you thought and yet he’s in such great shape.
@@pauljohnson6019 It's important to remember in the story that Dixon didn't seriously train for this bout and was going in expecting a 3 round sparring exhibition where he'd have to carry an old man in the ring. In fact, minus taking a few hits that's pretty much what was happening until he injured his hand with that bad hook and couldn't maintain distance as effectively. Rocky's entire plan was to try to fix Dixon down and maximize whatever hits he could land. The combination of Dixon's lack of preparation or conditioning (especially the lack of mental preparation for going into a battle) and Rocky's overpreparation would be a factor in a fight like this if it happened in real life, and if the younger fighter lost most of the use of his dominant hand for several rounds it's not unreasonable to think Foreman or Tyson in their late 40's or early 50's could seriously press someone at the tail end of their prime who had never been really challenged before.
It’s actually a real boxing style, Rocky is a slugger, sluggers really on brute strength and durability, famous sluggers such as George Foreman, Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson, and James Braddock were all known for their punching power and iron jaw
rocky was based off chuck wepner. he'd often go 15 rounds just tiring his opponent out letting them punch him. not as an impressive record as rocky's though, 35 wins 14 losses. but still impressive for someone who liked to block punches with his face
My dad and I are die hard Rocky fan, when we went to the theater to see Balboa we were a little surprised when it was over everyone in the theater stood up and applauded. I've never seen that before.

If Rocky was in his prime, Dixon would have taken the fight a lot more seriously. Also Dixon is a lot faster than Balboa in his prime...Dixon would do what Creed should have done Stick and Move and win the fight on points.

The spirit that departs the body immediately goes to heaven or hell. For example the thief on the cross, Jesus told him that he would be with him in paradise that day. The best fight montage in the Rocky series. Every time I watch this film when it cuts to Mickey saying “Go to him! RUN OVER HIM!” it cuts so deep. It genuinely feels like Mickey is calling out to him from the grave.
I really liked how he ended that final battle. Normally someone would film it like it'd be the protagonist's worst beating ever, but Stallone made it to where it was a legend resting in his throne at last.
Rocky in his prime would have finished Dixon incredibly fast and so would have Apollo and Drago they fought in a much harder time in boxing and they were just way better fighters and yes this is a movie and this is a movie answer so don’t argue with me 😂
i love how realistic everything is from a fighter breaking their hand, his son's words of confidence, favorite part is when the coach falls climbing the ropes, really captures how choatic things are.
After the franchise ended on the weird note & tone of Rocky V, Balboa did a really good job of bringing back the feeling that the original Rocky gave us.
This movie came full circle from Rocky 5. I love this movie because it let everyone know that Rocky was loved and that he was going to be okay as he waved by to Adrian at the last scene I think he was also waving by to us too. Great movie way to end the Rocky series.
Really cool how they filmed this scene by actually doing it before a real fight taking place that night From my understanding, they came out from the backrooms like this and then the crowd was told about the filming of the scene. It's about as real as it gets for a movie, very cool! I even like how the cameras have that live TV look to them too. They don't look cinematic and Hollywood style, they just look raw like you're watching a sports event live

It's kind of cool seeing rocky age throughout the years. From the original in 76 all the way through to creed. It makes him seem like a real person.

I am so glad that Stallone pushed to have this movie made- a proper ending to one of the greatest film franchises of all time. The way that it was left in Rocky 5 didn't do justice to the series. This film was underrated in my opinion... I've heard some people say that it was too unbelievable, well, any more unbelievable than the first, an unknown, sloppy street fighter going 15 rounds with the world heavyweight champion? George Foreman came back at an older age and really shook up some younger fighters. Nothing is impossible if you have courage and determination.

In the original script Rocky would have died in the street fight with Tommy Gunn in Rocky V. The producers saved Sly from himself.
Rocky V was a remake of Rocky 1 in the sense of, when they were fighting their own way, in the script, if it had been REAL fighting, it MIGHT have been a draw, because Rocky and Tommy were being equal to each other, every time they fought like street fighters, both doing heavy punching. Rocky only just won, due to knocking him out, with some more heavy punches.

On December 3rd, 2005 during the Bernard Hopkins Jermaine Taylor fight Stallone came out to a real audience to film the ring entrance. But most was filmed following that from December 5th through the 9th.
The biggest day with extras filling the place was Tuesday, December 6th.
There was still much to film with the fights after that for the next few days.
They filmed the final fight then and there for that week and also shot Mason Dixon’s other fight that was happening at the beginning of the movie during the same exact place at the same time. Just made all of the extras in the crowd and in the seats move to other locations (other seats) and changed the lighting to make it appear to be different people at a different place at a different time….
I know all of this because I WAS THERE! Ringside for all of it! Got to meet Sly and Frank Stallone, Andy even got real hugs from Duke and Pauli!

The fact that rocky is pretty much able to stay on top of him in his 50s is just amazing and it shows that rocky would easily destroy him in his prime within 2 rounds or less
He couldn't pull off another Drago miracle- at that time, he was late 30s, and Drago was in his prime, it would have been a joke, A JOKE, if he had knocked out a man 30 years or so younger- thank God, the director made Dixon win this- that is a shade of realism, no 53 or 55 year old is winning a boxer in his prime, unless he is suffering from some sort of muscle weakness or fatigue syndrome.
Actually I did the math on Sylvester Stallone’s birthday at the time this was released he was 62 or 63 depending on what month it came out. Not to try and be a know it all however I thought you would find it interesting that he’s even older than you thought and yet he’s in such great shape.

@@pauljohnson6019 It's important to remember in the story that Dixon didn't seriously train for this bout and was going in expecting a 3 round sparring exhibition where he'd have to carry an old man in the ring. In fact, minus taking a few hits that's pretty much what was happening until he injured his hand with that bad hook and couldn't maintain distance as effectively. Rocky's entire plan was to try to fix Dixon down and maximize whatever hits he could land.
The combination of Dixon's lack of preparation or conditioning (especially the lack of mental preparation for going into a battle) and Rocky's overpreparation would be a factor in a fight like this if it happened in real life, and if the younger fighter lost most of the use of his dominant hand for several rounds it's not unreasonable to think Foreman or Tyson in their late 40's or early 50's could seriously press someone at the tail end of their prime who had never been really challenged before.

When a person dies their spirit leaves their body and goes to either heaven or hell depending on whether or not they have accepted God's redemption. Their is no soul sleep. That is unbiblical.

You have made a fundamental mistake. The passages you are quoting are referring to the bodies. The bodies are no longer conscious, the bodies can't do anything.
The spirit that departs the body immediately goes to heaven or hell. For example the thief on the cross, Jesus told him that he would be with him in paradise that day. The thief was going to die and Jesus said that was the day he would be in paradise. He didn't cease to exist. His spirit didnt leave is body and floated around doing nothing. It left the body and went to be with the Lord.

The best fight montage in the Rocky series. Every time I watch this film when it cuts to Mickey saying “Go to him! RUN OVER HIM!” it cuts so deep. It genuinely feels like Mickey is calling out to him from the grave.
I really liked how he ended that final battle. Normally someone would film it like it'd be the protagonist's worst beating ever, but Stallone made it to where it was a legend resting in his throne at last.
I love how even at old age, Duke still jumping over them ropes and falling 😂

i love how realistic everything is from a fighter breaking their hand, his son's words of confidence, favorite part is when the coach falls climbing the ropes, really captures how choatic things are.
This is the only boxing movie that actually has the actors really hitting each other instead of air punches and head snap back
I loved that he didn't care if he won or lost, and just packed 'er up and left. It didn't matter. He left a happy man.
After the franchise ended on the weird note & tone of Rocky V, Balboa did a really good job of bringing back the feeling that the original Rocky gave us.

This movie came full circle from Rocky 5. I love this movie because it let everyone know that Rocky was loved and that he was going to be okay as he waved by to Adrian at the last scene I think he was also waving by to us too. Great movie way to end the Rocky series.

Really cool how they filmed this scene by actually doing it before a real fight taking place that night From my understanding, they came out from the backrooms like this and then the crowd was told about the filming of the scene. It's about as real as it gets for a movie, very cool! I even like how the cameras have that live TV look to them too. They don't look cinematic and Hollywood style, they just look raw like you're watching a sports event live
It's the one thing that gave Sly the edge over Arnold. He knows how to create memorable characters that you root for. Even his latest projects Tulsa King and the one about the guy that escapes from prison. Rocky, Rambo will always be among best fictional movie characters of all time.
