It is a bummer they are getting rid of the 6 speed and k20c2. The reason they are is because they are no longer going to have the k20c2. It is being replaced by the 2 L from the the hybrid. Yes, the hybrid engine will be the engine for the low trims too. Just without the electrification. So cvt only. Rip K20c2. Rip 6 speed. The si will continue to be the only manual 1.5t. they will be keeping it. It will likely be gone next gen though. That's okay. The 1.5 isn't exactly that reliable. So I see why they are doing this. Yeah, the big bummer is the 6 speed gone from the lower sport trim. Old reliable port injection k20 rip. If I didn't want the hybrid so bad I would definitely be getting that.

Stick shift - you know it was the honey on the lot when I was looking and I knew it at the time - in Canada in 2021 the BASE Elantra here had the stick shift option and they even added some content to that model as it was the only offering at the time. It was like $18,000 here and they had a grey puddy colour one with chrome 15" wheels (mine has the 16" black ones which I never understood as particularly nice looking - reason I got the black coloured car to pull them into looking normal). Anyway here at least they still offer the N-Line with the stick - take the 2024 for a spin if you can as they are saying it got some very nice enhancements including a "closer to N" exhaust note.

If you like the Honda Civic's look, it's great that it is catching up in MPG Ratings.
I'm driving a 2020 Civic Coupe. After 3 years of the Gen Xl, l'm still turned off by the very sedated looking Gen XI. Come trading time, l'll be looking at the Prius, or the Corolla Hatch (AWD?), if it the the Corolla gets a Hybrid. Maybe our trusted informer, Kirk can tell us if that happens.
However, this recent touch up, is definitely an improvement.
AT $30K for a daily commuter, the Corolla Hybrid may be a tough sell, if switchbacks aren't your thing.
As for stick shifters, l traded my last stick, a 2007 GTI Golf in 2016. Don't miss it one bit. With many family members driving my cars, sticks are not a plan. Especially if you see my family members clutch and shift!😩

So it seems like the trims on both body styles will be the same with the same equipment just a hatchback or sedan. Makes a lot more sense. I am betting they are going to try to keep their Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid just under 30K. You can get a fully loaded Corolla Hybrid XLE for about 30K. Or a base model Camry LE with a moon roof for just over 30K. Upper two trims for the 2024 Prius start around 32K and 34K. And the economy looks to be already in or going into a recession.

Finally a Prius competitor. This competes more w the Prius bc of its price and power outputs. The corolla is the entry hybrid for their line up. This isn’t really an entry level hybrid. Just under 30k for a BASE civic hybrid? I’d rather get a 2025 Camry LE for the same price.

I'm not so sure why there is always this agita whenever a manufacturer discontinues a manual. I understand there are manual enthusiasts...but the numbers are low and they depreciate incredibly fast. I would myself love an Acura Integra Type S with a DCT...but it only comes with manual, so I won't buy one...I drive in stop and go traffic all the time, so it's inconvenient. All that said, I love the idea of the hatch sport touring hybrid with decent horsepower AND great gas mileage. I think this is the way to go.

the days of L15 boys grenading their cvt transmissions with a ktuner is over i guess. I’m more of a fan of the K20C2 myself. i do have a ktuner and some fun bits that make it faster than the stock L15. probably more reliable too. it’s a 2022 manual sport hatch. still only 15,000 miles i plan on keeping it a long time.
i respect the hybrid tech, it seems like a great system having the engine as like a generator that can also link directly to the drivetrain for more power. i just don’t think the tuners are gonna touch it without the turbo. the mod scene for the K20C2 is already pretty dead. you get the prl intake, the rv6 downpipe, the ktuner and you’re done. good parts but not a lot of them. time will tell i guess. the civic hybrids never got love before

Same for the EX on the sedan side. Looks like your wheel choices are 16" steel with cheap hubcaps (LX sedan only) or 18". I don't understand why everything needs to be a 'sport' trim. Maybe they'll surprise us with a 16" or 17" alloy wheel on the LX but that doesn't do you any good if you want to go hybrid or if you want any trim of the hatchback. I think the 17" alloys on the current EX/EL-L are perfect size and design for the car, but I wouldn't count on seeing them in '25.
