why not make a video about the bad color banding and graininess of grey colors on low brightness? This is the actual dealbreaker for me and i have already sent back my S24 Ultra because of this
This is known and should soon be fixed but why not make a video about the bad color banding and graininess of grey colors on low brightness? This is the actual dealbreaker for me and i have already sent back my S24 Ultra because of this
its not issue. s21's screen looks very bad when vivid mode is on. color changes and color explosions are very noticeable. its also very eye tiring.i'm using the s22 and switching to vivid mode like the s24 creates minimal change. I think the problem is with the s21 ultra and your shooting camera.I almost went blind in head-to-head comparisons.
I loved my S21 ultra and finally upgraded to the new S24ultra and its an upgrade for sure but the s21ultra is still an amazing phone that did everything i needed it to do and still took amazing pics but I missed my S pen. If you have an s21ultra Its still an amazing phone and isnt far behind IMO
IMO I don't think it's a problem. If you're looking at the Chromo logo, the one displayed by the S24 Ultra in your video is actually more color accurate with the real logo. But this is also not a scienfiic test since you have not provided any details about the color accuracy of your video. I know my panel I'm watching your video on is calibrated, but that's it. I can't know how you shot and graded your video. In reality, I think people have just gotten too used to overly saturated screens.
I think your opinion is correct that the S24 looks more natural and is hence accurate. However, people including me who have used our Samsung phones in Vivid mode for years can spot difference immediately. Vivid and Natural on S24 looks same. Prefer natural colors ? That's what Natural is for. Anyway I have pinned a comment at top linking official Samsung page that they will roll out a vividness slider. Also the side by side with a previous Gen makes the color grading mute point as the grading affects both phones.
@@starazure I'm changing my opinion. I just got the new S24 Ultra today and the truth is somewhere in between. The color accuracy seems to be OK for both SDR and HDR video or pictures but there's just something off with the UI. It is indeed too flat, even for sRGB. There's a huge difference vs my old S21 FE or any other of my old Android phones like the LG V30 and V40. It's like they rebuilt the the whole UI in Rec 2020 then slammed an sRGB limit over it. Also the Vivid vs Natural option doesn't seem to do anything.
@@dls4705 Thanks for letting us know as it will help people who are pursuing the S24. Luckily a fix is coming soon from Samsung - th-cam.com/video/e913_r2Z1V8/w-d-xo.html
People who like natural can choose 'Natural' but Vivid and Natural options should not look the same. Will make another video when Samsung pushes the vividness slider update.
And now they are purposefully fixing it Video coming soon - news.samsung.com/global/samsung-announces-galaxy-s24-series-update-offering-galaxy-users-more-choices
I went out and bought an S23 Ultra recently instead of the S24 Ultra for many reasons, the screen being really dull was one of them. I also don't want a totally flat display, the curved edge gives the phone a more premium feel, and I think the curved on the S23 Ultra is perfect vs previous screens on previous models. You also get the Snapdragon Gen 2 For Galaxy, a CPU customized for Samsung, where the S24 CPU is not. Sure it is the Gen 3, but it is the stock Gen 3, and it isn't as efficient as the modified Gen 2 For Galaxy, and performance difference is not worth the upgrade. You get the same battery, same display tech minus the colour accuracy and brightness which we will just how this fix Samsung announced will actually improve it, then there is the camera which is exactly the same on the s23 ultra, ateast sensor wise, as you get downgraded for zoom levels on the S24, making zooming in on things worse, and pretty much all AI crap is coming to the S23 series so in the end, you are paying quite a lot more money for a phone that isn't really better, and in some cases, worse. I can't see me ever wanting to switch my S23 Ultra for an S24 Ultra, it just didn't worth it in my opinion, especially when you can get an S23 Ultra for around $1150 CAD used in like new condition, and have a phone that is 96% the same or similar to the S24 Ultra, without spending $1900 CAD. I think Samsung focused way too much on AI for the S24 series over actual upgraded hardware and software that we actually want. Anyone else is free to make their own choice, but I will not be touching an S24 Ultra. Hopefully next year's Ultra will be an actual upgrade over the S23 Ultra, even though I still would more then likely not give up my S23 Ultra for a real long time.
Also s24 heats up miserably, yesterday i was using pop up wimdows with split screen ( which i used to do with my s20fe5g as well) ,and image what ! The battery temperature literally reached 47.8 ( as per accubattery app) i mean ky s20fe5g never crossed 46 also their were many framedrops in s24 which never used to happen with my s20fe5g until i use it for more than 30 minutes. Also i had s23 before this and that never crossed 44 but this one is heating up too much ,cant wait for any upcoming sale offer to sale it
This is not a problem, it's just better display tuning. What kind of video is this, without any scientific proof/claim? What point are you trying to make? If anything, the color grading of this video should be a clear giveaway...
Then why is Samsung releasing a vividness slider? news.samsung.com/global/samsung-announces-galaxy-s24-series-update-offering-galaxy-users-more-choices

I agree. Almost returned the phone and the update announcement came just on time. Natural and vivid should not look the same. Sadly most TH-cam Reviews who get free phones do not mention the issue..

do you have any eye problems here? Overly tuned colors are pop these days? S24 utra has very realistic colors in my opinion. I suggest you go to an eye doctor.

I noticed the difference in the color as soon as I turned on my s24. My s21 was considerably richer and more vivid.
