- This was such an incredible adaptation! No notes- I was feeling all of the feels, quite literally, as I went through them all from laughing to crying 🤣 is anyone surprised? the casting was so incredible, I couldn't have been happier than having these two portray Alex and my dear Henry! 🩶 I'll absolutely be returning to this movie for some rewatches!

Alex comes across at first glance as just a perhaps-shallow party boy. On the plane back, when Amy is quizzing him on the Henry list and they get into the issue of the dog's name, she rebukes him by saying "that's my son you are talking about." He apologizes and she asks him if he wants to see pictures. Normally that is the point people pull away as they will be bored but Alex responds eagerly, partially I think because he picks up on how important her dog is to her and he cares about her.
I have seen this movie so many times I lost count so now Im watching the reactions.

One of my most favorite scenes (among just so many) is the New Year's Eve party where at every step, Alex is looking out for Henry, even when other people pull him (Alex) away. He is constantly making sure Henry is being included, even when at times, Henry looks like a fish out of water. And when Henry leaves, Alex notices right away.
Then outside, right away, Alex is concerned that he (Alex) may have done something wrong.
Yes! I love the New Year’s party!! Just watching them interact even if they aren’t technically together the whole night is incredible! 🩶
When Henry is coming down the reception line in the beginning, I think his sister is trying to set him up with Alex, which is why she pulls Nora away. And Alex says something like "how's it going?" which for protocol was probably ghastly and considered rude, and Henry probably thinks Alex is mocking him.
I didn't think about it like that at all when I first watched it, but now that you said that, I totally see it that way 🤣
And if you think about it more after we know that Henry’s sister knows that he likes boys romantically like how he’s supposed to like girls her trying to set him up with Alex makes even more sense if he also told her that he’s liked Alex since they’ve first met
This movie goes to my theory that as long as your romantic leads have real chemisty and tension, the sexual orientation doesn't matter. Look at the first Bridgerton series. Daphne is pretty milktoast to me as a character (the actor does a great job), and the Duke is an absolute douchebag throughout (that's another story). HOWEVER, these two actors have a very intense sexual chemistry and it is mesmerizing. I watched this movie feeling like, I should leave the room with these two. Prince Henry does nothing for me, but Alex really does and together they are spicy!
I totally agree! chemistry is everything with stories like this!! also, totally understand Henry not doing much for people, while he is my favorite of the two (which is hard for me to pick), I know he for sure doesn't hit the mark with everyone! but THE TENSION, incredible 🩶

Me who's read the book and finally watched the film, the museum scene!! (Also as a destiel fan who has read Twist and Shout, the song Alex's picks, my heart was not ready for Can't Stop Falling In Love. Ask anyone who's read the story, that song hits DIFFERENT)

When Amy comes to get the two out of the janitor's closet, and Alex asks what does she mean when she says "neutralized," there is a very very quick wink when she says "good thing he was in a hospital."
Both Actors were perfectly cast the chemistry was so believable and the love making scene very tasteful. Loved your reactions ,,did you see the little scene at the very end of the credits ? Also someone recently pointed out to me that the scene after the boys go out on the balcony .. and go to the election rooms ,,was all filmed in one sequence... ( 1 take) the camera follows Alex right through to the very last bit of that scene ..let me know what you think of that its perfectly filmed ..I along with many fans on the facebook RWRB fan page have watched this movie every day since it was released Im obsessed lol

Here is a list of my thoughts while watching the movie:
-I hope you have already watched the deleted scene, it would have been before the interview conference they held. As poetic as it sounds it's titled "The Cornetto scene" FYI
-As a native Spanish speaker from Latam, the only thing I like about Miguel is his Spanish. God. That accent is almost native while Alex's is clearly of someone who learned Spanish in the US. I like a lot the fluency in the way he says "Son las pestañas", that Ñ!!!
-THE MUSIC IN ALEX'S NEW YEAR'S PARTY!!! That DJ knows what they are doing!!!! This was the first time I heard a party sound like a *party*, the combination of music sounded just like one of my cousin's parties: trap/reggetón + some old upbeat song with some questionable phrases. If you want to know the song in Spanish is about a guy that has a long record of girlfriends (could allude to Alex) buuuut the part in which Alex grabs Henry by his hips and the camera focuses on Henry it says "Yo quisiera enamorarme pero no puedo/I would like to fall in love but I can't" aka Henry's current situation.
-Miguel saying that he has read Alex's Texas memo is sketchy af, and a way to imply that he had access to Alex's emails long before his "situationship" with Henry. As a political reporter who wanted to get the inside scoop from the white house Maybe that's why Miguel hooked up with Alex in first place
-THAT LOOK HENRY GIVES ALEX AFTER *THAT* in his room, it looks suspiciously like a James Bond look TM and I think it's a sweet nod to Henry's father
-One of the things I missed from the book was the historical quotes they exchanged in their emails, those were so sweet and surprising considering that they were letters from hundreds of years ago.
-BUT ALSO ALEX SAYING "Buenas noches, cabrón" was so on point!!! He said to Miguel "Good night, fucker", even tho "cabrón" is also used as a term of endearment between friends, and parents with children with a relationship of EXTREME TRUST
-And finally, I loved Nicholas's portrayal of Henry, his POV was the one we didn't see in the book because we always followed Alex and it was evident that there were two different outcomes for each one. Bravo!!!
omg, I love these facts!! especially the lyric translation, I so appreciate that and it makes me love that scene even more!! 🩶 also, I couldn't agree more, I really connect with Henry in the sense of feeling like you need to put on a brave face and/or act a certain way for certain people or in his case, his country, so I absolutely loved getting to see how he was portrayed!! it was so incredible!! 👏🏻
01:48 This is so great, about not watching things just to criticize them, not expecting things to be realistic or perfect, just wanting them to be entertaining and fun. Some of the reactions I've watched were exactly like that, people complaining about stuff every five minutes, and it just gets annoying. Like honestly, why even watch something if you're just going to find fault with it?

I really find tv shows and movies as something to enjoy and it's not fun at all for me to nit pick on whether something is realistic or exactly how it was described in a book. I'm watching the media for entertainment and enjoyment, not to be a critic!! I do understand some people who do it who maybe are into film making and such but at that point, I feel like you have an idea of something you'll like so don't watch something just to complain about it the whole time! have fun with it, that's what it's for! 🩶

You should watch things you think you'll enjoy, otherwise you'll just be wasting your time, and why do that when there is so much content out there that could be better suited to you. And even if you're watching it for another reason, like if you're into film making or as a request from subscribers, why be so damn negative about shit? Almost like you're belittling it or mocking it. There is a way to talk about something you didn't like, or didn't agree with, without being so unpleasant the way some of these people are. It just makes me want to stop watching their content. Sorry for the rant. It's just that your stance on this is very refreshing.

@@ryannrodkey5669 I also agree with you about people being better off not watching things they don't expect to like, even for their channel. I think a lot of people don't think like that, I've only seen one channel choosing to stop watching something they weren't enjoying and explaining it in a respectful way. It would be nice if people tried to keep a positive attitude when watching anything, but even if they expect not to like it, they should at least be respectful and considerate, and try to have constructive criticism instead of negativity and complaints. In the end, people are often protective of the things they love, and this kind of attitude can just put them off. Things can get nasty from both sides, and it's just too bad, we're all here to enjoy these movies and series and other content (or we should be).

The movie was originally made three hours but it was insisted it be cut down to just two, meaning a whole 1/3 was removed. (Hopefully they release the full version, and soon.) I think one of the scenes they cut is after the swimming scene, where I think Henry does break up with Alex. Because after that, we see Henry sneaking off while Alex is still asleep. They HAD to have talked after the swim. (Otherwise, Henry could have run off before Alex got back from the raft.) Then the line where Henry tells his sister he broke up with Alex makes more sense.
They should have kept it 3 hours because it's so good, the time flies by.

From what I understand, NOT their choice. And probably worse than if the movie had been made two hours in the first place.
There is a clip of one deleted scene with the British version of ice cream cones which would have been good in the movie.

@@ryannrodkey5669 There was no 3 hour version, the director clarified this in an interview. He had at some point mentioned that the unedited movie where they just had all the scenes in a row was just under 3 hours but that is never going to be seen by anyone but the director and editors. The longest finished version of the movie was 2 hours and 7 minutes. So there might be a couple of deleted scenes like the cornetto's scene that they already posted to prime's youtube that we could get but that's it.
You should check out the end credits scene on your next watch. It was funny.
