I could probably consider it, but I didn't enjoy the format of you reaction. Your blurring the image and hiding the voice every time you talk,(and you talk a lot) misses a lot of the movie, even important parts. I've seen a few reactions that are more respectful of the movie...

We have to cut out a lot of the movie on TH-cam or else the reaction gets blocked. Inferring that we're "disrespectful" of the movie because of this is silly.
The point of watching a reaction video is to see our reactions and our discussion anyway. If you want to watch the movie again without any commentary then I'm not sure why you're watching a reaction video. You can just rewatch the movie on your own.

“For Kristy” is a dedication to the older sister of the actor Taylor Zakhar Perez, who plays Alex, the President’s son. She died of cancer in June, just a few months before the release of the movie. She was a big fan of her brother and was looking forward to seeing him in his first leading role.
Yeah after filming this I later saw Taylor’s post about her on Instagram 🥺 So sad she didn’t get to see it! 😔 💔

RIGHT?! We need more!!! Although I hope that they would include the author in the writing because I also don’t want a sequel that isn’t as good writing wise. Correct me if i’m wrong, but I don’t think there’s any source material for a sequel yet right? I would love another movie but they gotta do it right!!!
@BriPhilTVofficial There is an extra bonus chapter that takes place a few years later after the events of the election, and it is written from Henry's pov for the first time ever, and the whole chapter pretty much talks about the changes of Henry and Alex's life after their relationship has been public and what they have been doing since then, and there's definitely a lot to unpack from that chapter alone as it just shows few details about what they have been doing since then, you can say it was more like a summary but it was still well written. Of course, there is going to be a big change that will happen to Alex and Henry's relationship as they would soon enter a new chapter of their life together (cannot spoil you that part in case you're planning on reading the story which is highly recommended). This chapter alone can be expanded easily with more details added so it can be a good resource to use for the sequel to happen, plus they can add in few things that they have missed from the book itself that didn't make it in the movie so it can give the audience to know more about their background and history, as well as more of their relationship that we didn't see in the movie from the book. The director is full on board with making a sequel along with the cast and the author as well, it's just matter of waiting for the strike to end and to see how further can RWRB go.

Philip and I are big Game of Thrones fans and so we’ve been burned before. When they kept making more seasons even tho there was no longer any source material for it, things really went south. 😭😭

I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤

I think that since they kept the sentence " when they write the history of my life, I want to include you", so they should've kept in the movie the fact Henry has romantic letters from historical figures sent to their "important male friend" . these friends were erased from history and their stories were never told.
Kristy was Taylor’s sister who passed away from cancer shortly before this came out.

@@BriPhilTVofficialyeah, the author didn't like Taylor back when Taylor was extremely vague about her political stance.... A lot of people thought she was a Republican. And there were a lot of people didn't like her bc of those assumptions... But thankfully, she very much isn't a republican and eventually opened up about her politics a little bit more in recent years. So yeah, the author doesn't dislike taylor anymore... Even though they did say some VERY horrible things towards her back in the day.

Yankee Doodle was a song the British soldiers made during the American Revolution to mock the American troops but the Americans adopted it to mock the British when the US started to win the war. That's why Yankee Doodle is a classic American song.

Henry giving him a push in at 1617 was so intimate...but you left out the most sensuous part- where Henry exhales and does an eyebrow raise when Alex is all in.
It's just so lovely to watch the characters falling in love: and showing love as an intimate act. Also, love that Alex and Henry practice safe sex.

In the book, Alex doesn't realize he's bi. Henry is gay, but in the closet because, royalty.
Oh really?? From what I heard I thought he does eventually come to terms with his bisexuality in the book but it just takes him a lot longer to get there.
He did realize he is bi. He just took several extra steps.
@@BriPhilTVofficial yeah, the book just has him have a little bit more of an existential crisis about his sexuality. The movie unfortunately just did not have time for that storyline so they had him not... Freak out as severely when he realized he had a crush on Henry. A lot of people were upset that that storyline was cut but unfortunately sometimes these tiny details that make the story richer in the book have to be cut for time reasons in a movie or TV show. If it was a TV show and not a movie they probably would have kept that storyline in there. Because they would have potentially had the time necessary to explore that story aspect.
And it is kind of an interesting one how Alex slowly realizes that he has had a crush on Henry for YEARS prior to meeting him in real life... Because as a young teen he would find magazine pictures of Henry VERY attractive and he didn't understand why at the time... So yeah, Alex has a slow realization in the book that even as a child ( young teen) he was drawn to Henry. It's kind of a cute little detail about Alex and his exploration of his sexuality... It's a kind of a "it's always been him" trope. But not a "only gay for you" trope... which I think is great cuz I don't necessarily love that trope, personally. People can be in a fully committed relationship and yet still see people of the gender of their current partner attractive, ya know? And unfortunately a lot of BL that I have seen over my years on Earth has been "gay for you"... Not all of it but... an uncomfortable amount of it is. So I'm glad that the book does not go there. Lol
oh WOW! I can see how the movie KIND OF tried to get at that when Nora was explaining to Alex all the reasons why he’s “wanted him to dick him down” for a while 😂😂😂 But I absolutely adore the idea that he had even been attracted to Henry growing up when seeing him in the media.
I’m a sucker for a good “it’s always been him” trope 😂 But YES oooo chile I hate the “only gay for him” trope with a passion and I’m sooooo glad this story didn’t go there lol you’re right there are FAR too many BLs that go that route **cough thai bl COUGH** ahem..excuse me. But yes LOL I would have loved to have seen Alex’s struggle with his own sexuality portrayed and it’s understandable that those who read the book were disappointed that it didn’t make it into the movie.
But all the more reason for me and Philip to dive into the book to experience all those details ☺️

As unrealistic or idealistic this movie may seem, this is what we need to go towards a more understanding and accepting society! The more we see it represented the more normalized it will be and at some point maybe the world will be ready for this. On another note, I read a lot of M/M romcoms and I'd love to watch more books adapted. Specially sports! There's nothing more delicious than the forbidden love between teammates. It makes for wonderful enemies/rivals to lovers stories. And unfortunately pro sports is another area in desperate need of representation and normalizing... So hopefully we'll get more of these type of films in the future! ❤️

You must read the book. It's wonderful and gives you so much more detail.
i highly recommend you change your mind and read the book. haha theres a lot more long distance chatting that they do before they get together which i just ate up!! their chemistry and little bickering and teasing was just so perfect. and you get more love scenes... it's just such a beautiful story and they unfortunately had to rush it for this movie. so it's more slowly told and given proper time to develop. :)
Oh yes we definitely plan on reading the book, especially after watching this. It makes sense that they can't include everything! That's why I always feel like book adaptations work so much better as a series or tv show instead.

the author is not anti-Taylor anymore. And even if they still were, how is disliking TS a call-outable or cancellable offense? lmao. Someone's unfavorable personal opinion about a very powerful public figure should not dissuade you from reading their work, especially when it's such an incredible body of work
It makes a difference when the “very powerful public figure” is someone you really admire, look up to and care about deeply.
Why would you want to support someone who spreads hate about a person or artist that you deeply care about, just because their work is good?
Do you feel comfortable supporting JK Rowling and her work despite the hate that she spreads about trans people? Just because of her great body of work?
Would you feel comfortable supporting a musician that has an “incredible body of work” despite them being homophobic and hateful to queer people?
If you feel comfortable looking the other way when people have shitty takes just because they’re good artists, then that’s on you.
We can agree to disagree, but I think it’s perfectly fine to choose not to support or consume an artist’s work when they have views that you don’t agree with.
What you’re not going to do is belittle someone’s choice to do that just because you feel differently. You can take your condescension elsewhere.
Also, for the record: since filming this reaction, Philip learned that the author has since changed her mind about Taylor, which has in turn changed his mind about the author as well.
@@BriPhilTVofficial Fair. I agree that my tone could have been nicer. But I do think the JK Rowling comparison is unfair and unwarranted. Taylor Swift is a cis, privileged, wealthy white woman who benefits greatly from her position. She is not a vulnerable, marginalized victim being discriminated against. Casey McQuiston is a queer, non-binary author who at one point happened to strongly dislike Taylor Swift. Being a hateful bigot and strongly disliking a famous person (for completely valid reasons) are not the same.
Again, I apologize for coming off as condescending earlier. But I still maintain that this correlation is in poor taste, especially when the criticism is coming from someone who’s actually part of the queer community.

However, if your main takeaway from all of that is that you think I was saying Taylor Swift and JK Rowling are the same (I wasn’t), then you’ve missed my whole point:
People are allowed to be hesitant about supporting an artist because they have previously demonstrated behavior that they personally do not wish to stand behind.
Casey did not just “strongly dislike” Taylor. It is not as simple as criticizing Casey for simply disliking a pop star. They obsessively and proudly posted hateful and toxic comments about Taylor Swift for years that were not only misogynistic but also body shaming. Even if their behavior was directed at anyone else other than Taylor Swift, it would still not be okay.
I’m sorry, but if you think those are “completely valid reasons” then I respectfully disagree. No person should spread that kind of hate about anyone.
Queer people are perfectly capable of being problematic and that kind of behavior shouldn’t be condoned. Period. Ironically, this is perfectly illustrated in RWRB with the Miguel character. I will not be biased when it comes to criticizing someone for being hateful just because they are a fellow queer person. Please do not try to shame me for criticizing a queer person or tell me my arguments are in poor taste just because I’m part of the queer community too - especially when you have misunderstood my point.
By that logic, are you saying that just because Taylor is not part of a vulnerable, marginalized group, it’s okay to discriminate against her? I’m sure you can agree that that kind of thinking also isn’t okay. Too many people think that just because she’s white, cisgendered, privileged and wealthy it’s okay to hate on her and belittle her.
Taylor Swift means a lot to queer people, Philip included. She has been a beautiful ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and has had a great impact on many queer fans. Of course Philip would feel hesitant about supporting someone who has been hateful towards her.
Yes, the JK Rowling example was much more extreme in comparison and Casey is nowhere near as problematic. But the correlation I was outlining for you is the idea of basing your decision to not consume an artist’s work simply because they have done or said things you don’t agree with.
That’s all this is. We never said we were canceling Casey or calling them out as you said in your original comment. Philip simply decided not to check the book out because he didn’t feel comfortable supporting them based on the negative impression he had of Casey at the time we filmed this video.
Anyway, as I’ve already said before, we have since learned that Casey acknowledged their hate was excessive back then and has also come to really appreciate and respect Taylor. To be fair to Casey, everyone has done or said things when they were younger that do not align with the values and morals they hold today. We’ll definitely be checking the book out now that we have learned more context on the situation.

Anyone can especially when they don't have all of the information... And for many years the general public did NOT have all of the information regarding Taylor's political stance and she was doing that, purposefully, under the guidance of her management team, if I recall correctly... she was told to keep quiet about her politics. But in doing so upset some people and made them think badly of her... They made some queer people get preemptively defensive and say some horrible shit about her... I absolutely agree that the comments that Casey made about Taylor back in the day were completely unacceptable and it shouldn't be said to anybody regardless of political stance... But also a significant amount of queer people had a weird feeling about Taylor. Potentially due to her background that she MIGHT be bigoted. It's absolutely a flawed way of thinking but I think in essence it's a form of protection... Lash out against a potential bigot before they have the chance to lash out at you.... It's extremely flawed But ultimately protective, I think. But yeah the body shaming was just completely unacceptable. Very gross behavior. But there have been apologies.... Which is really all that we can expect... When someone does something that's not very nice due to them having incomplete information... you can really only expect them to apologize once they do have all the information, ya know? And that's what Casey did. And now they share red white and royal blue edits that have Taylor Swift songs on their Instagram story so... I think an important thing to remember is that people CAN change their opinion once they have more information. And people are allowed to do that... But you also don't have to necessarily accept someone's apology when they give it. I'm sure there are some Taylor Swift fans or just other people out there who haven't forgiven Casey for the horrible things that they said about Taylor back in the day. And that's okay too. You can't please everybody. But a significant amount of people including Taylor Swift fans have forgiven them and seen through their actions and words that they meant the apology and have changed their behaviour.

The LGBTQI community deserves happy endings, fluffy love stories devoid of tragedy. Much like Lt Uhura in Star Trek, seeing queer characters in positions of power with storyline that celebrates them. I love having the collectors edition, which has the epilogue that occurs 5 years later, and Alex and Henry are going strong.

It was originally a British song meant to make fun of the "new worlders" - including calling them "dandies" (i.e.: silly/"fairies"). So it's also a Gay History call-back.
The Americans, not understanding it was an insult, turned into a very early "F Yeah! America!" anthem, so the joke's on both sides of the pond but with totally different meanings.
