Hey up Ladies, Gents and Everyone in between. Continuing on from the heartstopper vibes i have reacted to RWRB at popular request. It completely shook me with how fantastic the characters, acting and story was and I can safely say I'll never judge a Rom-Com by its cover again.
Once again thank you all for the love and support.
Subscribe, I beg
And see you in the next one ❤️❤️❤️

Same! Soo glad I was able to support the pips who obviously support the community. Definitely gonna recommend "your internet mom ash" and "Brad" as they are also brilliant content creators!
Me too. The positive content is everything
Yes and heartstopper 2 reactions too🙇♀️
It's so nice to see someone who hasn't read the book enjoying the film so much. Also, not knowing the plot makes for good reactions!
Isn’t it the other way round? It’s nice seeing the book fans enjoying the film too. That’s rare. 😂
@@timefliesaway999 absolutely, I just meant it's nice seeing ppl fall in love with characters without any prior knowledge 😊
Massive props to the intimacy coordinator, Robbie Taylor Hunt. THAT scene was beautifully done and I don't think enough people recognize all the little details that make it so wonderful.
He is also quite cute looking lol
I agree. That was the best most romantic/intimate scene I have ever seen. However did you notice that during the scene Alex had his key and bracelet on but after when they were talking (key and bracelet) was on nightstand next to the lube?
I bloody love how annoyed you get 🤣 but also how quickly you just switch to being destroyed by how cute and lovely something is.
OMFG I loved your reaction. It was so genuine and I laugh hard seeing you goes from "don't like Rom-Com's" to almost dying in every scene. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
I live for seeing ppl who maintain they don't like romcoms then lose their entire shit while actually watching one, it's gold :p
15:20 the whole polo scene was quite steamy! 17:15 The Intimacy Coordinator was excellent for this film. So believable and beautifully done.
I think one of the key differences between this movie and other romcoms is the "break up arc." In a traditional romcom movie the main couple would get into a fight, break-up, and then some time would pass with them spending time apart and possibly dating other people before they got back together. In RW&RB though the "break up arc" lasts all of five seconds and Henry and Alex never stopped loving each other during it, it was more circumstances drove them apart and they vowed to be patient and stay together until their circumstances could be improved. It was incredibly refreshing and added weight to the scene where Henry insisted that they were in love and dedicated to be together. It made their emotions seem much more genuine.
Also as an aside as far as the differences from movie and book I think the biggest difference was the slimming of the cast. In the book Alex has a sister, his parents are divorced and he has a stepdad, Nora is his ex/best friend, we actually get to meet Henry's mom, his sister Bea is a former cocaine addict and has a whole lot more depth than her movie counterpart, the list really goes on. But the movie is still really good and they were faithful to the book for the parts that mattered.
I ordered the book a few days ago. I know they got rid of the sister and gave some of her lines to Nora. Alex and Nora in the book went out? Did they ever sleep together?
@@kareneide Yes! In the book Nora is Alex's ex-girlfriend and best friend. She is also bisexual and like in the movie is his first go-to for seeking advise on his relationship with Henry.
The emotional roller coaster you went through was so relatable lol. Just love this movie a lot.
Also brilliant editing, it had me laughing out loud. 😂
Hi Luke. I have watched dozens of these reaction videos, because I am a big fan of this film, as well as the book, and I have to say, I really enjoyed yours the best. The editing, special effects, along with how you comment on the scenes, are all very well done. I am happy to be a new subscriber, and look forward to what you will do next on your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Loved your reaction, especially bringing the UK perspective!
I've been watching this movie so many times at this point and I love it lol
Absolutely. And every bit connected to it, so as to squeeze out every bit of emotion. Including every good reaction (like this beautiful one). Thanks.
It's cute at the end we don't go inside the house and they get their privacy.
I agree with you. I'm really not into rom-com but I have to say that this didn't feel like a rom-com to me. It was really well done with lots of funny moments AND lots of important things said. I really liked your reaction. :)
When Prince Henry meets Alex in the receiving line notice how he BLUSHES! It’s not a snub!
Love the reaction! (Edit: And we hate Miguel. He can get right in the bin with Ben Hope from Heartstopper and August from Young Royals).
not Luke telling us that he is not into RomCom and fell for this one haha 😁😁
Because of the chemistry of this couple makes you feel it was real 😊
Loved your reaction to this, mate. Yours is actually the first I've watched twice. Also bc I feel the same about romcoms, too. Not my cup of tea 🇬🇧 But RWRB really surprised me, made me emotional and yes, godammit, even cry. The chemistry between Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez is off the charts ❤❤❤
Also, Uma Thurman as Ellen Claremont is as strikingly good as Olivia Colman in Heartstopper. That was a stroke of casting genius.
@@andre_p Yes. I am puzzled that some critics call it her career-worst performance....
Really enjoyed your reaction!! I think what makes RWRB stand out from other rom coms is how sincere and real the two leads' relationship feels (you can actually believe that they like each other and have fun with one another, which you can't say for some rom coms) and also how it approaches the real crushing pressures of homophobia, while still showing us a slightly better and more idealistic version of our world that we can strive for
I don't know if you got the joke, since you did not put it in the reaction, about Alex's endowment that Henry said at the coffee shop. When Alex noted that he thought that his own name was a mouthful and Henry responded with "he is".
Love, love, LOVE your reaction to RWRB. I too haven't read the book when I watched the movie & thank goodness for that! I agree with everything you said. Alex & Henry's chemistry were off the charts! I give it a 1,000,000,000/10
This has been the best reaction I saw. It's awesome how you connect with the different feelings the films causes and how you react to them so honestly without being hysterical about it.
Mr. Hodgson, you are a complete sap at heart and I’m here for it. Thank you for reacting to RWRB and being so genuine and vulnerable. I also don’t generally watch rom-coms, but this film really gets to me and made me feel👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾☺️😎🌈
Another great reaction, Luke! I was really skeptical of this film before watching it as well, but I fell in love with the story, and especially with Alex and Henry. I've since rewatched it three times so far.
LOVED your honest reactions to this Movie ive watched it about a dozen times already and will keep watching it . The Actors in every part were great
Honestly loved the movie also, never read the book so it'll be interesting to see what changes they've made and how they flesh things out more in it.
the main differences are: 1. it's a slow burn: Henry & Alex doesn't kiss unti 100 pgs into the book. 2. Alex has a sister named June. 3. The Miguel character doesn't exist. 4. The email leak was done by the President's political rival. 5. We don't get Henry's POV. The story is told from Alex's POV.
@@hunnerdayEDT One difference where the film is better than the book is in the Buckingham Palace scene. In the book it’s a Queen, and Henry’s Mom (a Duchess) intercedes and blackmails the Queen into accepting Alex as Henry’s partner. I found that bit highly improbable and far fetched. The film eliminates the Duchess (she’s busy saving elephants in Botswana) and the Queen is replaced by the inimitable Stephen Fry as the King. Much more effective. Other than that, the book is a must read IMO, a different experience from the film.
There is always such a difference in the strong points of a book and that of a film. A book can go into a lot of detail, in particular what each character is thinking and feeling, and why. A movie can't do this except by showing emotions on people's faces as they respond to the other characters. If done right, this can be so powerful, but is hard to nail it and can fail miserably if they miss the mark by just a little.
The incidental music needs to walk a very fine line in not overpowering and being too obvious, yet being there when needed. I don't nominally pay any attention but here I've seen some of the same scenes in clips where different music is played. Much less powerful. Kudos to this music here.
I read the book - twice, after seeing the movie, but can't stop rewatching the movie again and again and again. Keep finding new nuances to appreciate while continuing to be swept off my feet by the same touches each time I watch it. Love seeing how the actors, particularly the two leads, use every tone in their voice and movement of little face muscles to drive the words and emotions home.
The expectation is that Casey will write the sequel
Really hoping that meeting of Casey and Alex in his Insta stories mean something and it was for something important, really need that sequel
I’d love to see your reaction to God’s Own Country, not a romcom but a fantastic film (maybe my fav queer film of all time). There’s an amazing quality of realism. It’s set in Yorkshire and written & directed by Francis Lee who’s from Yorkshire. The actors were trained on farms for weeks before they started shooting so that all the scenes with animals could really be performed.
I was going to suggest the same. IMO it’s one of the better queer films. Much prefer it over Call Me By Your Name.
i know it's a good one but haven't seen it yet. i just KNOW i will be wrecked by it (in the best way)
Yes! Great suggestion.
please its so good
it's one of my favs as well, it's so goooooooood
I loved your reaction so much. It's always fun to see the reactions of someone who hasn't read the book.
hey Luke . Thanks for your honest, emotional & thoughtful reaction . Mark (Toronto) 💙
23:27 Henry and Alex's ship name is FirstPrince.
A british guy reacting to british henry. The reaction video we all deserved.
Wow! Your surprisingly emotional reactions made a beautiful film even better!😮❤🎉❤ Ive never seen you before but I’m sure I’m not your only new subscriber! Hurrah!😅🎉❤
This is the BEST RW&RB reaction i saw, hand down 😅🙌
Love your reaction. I felt the all the emotions 😂
Another great reaction, Luke, thanks (and hello from. Australia). Especially like how authentic your reactions are - some reactors seem to be over-reacting for dramatic effect but you’re delightfully honest and direct. Looking forward to seeing more.
Your filter on Miguel had me howling lol 😂🎉
Omg Luke, your reactions are so heartwarming! Love this!❤
Yours is the most beautiful and authentic RWRB reaction video I’ve seen. It touched me as deeply as did the film and the book. Props to you, mate.
Thanks mate, appreciate it glad your here for the ride ❤️
Real talk? I never liked rom-coms either until I finally got the chance to see a queer one. I think my dislike up until that point was maybe more resentment that I thought we'd never see ourselves in those kind of movies. We'd never have media that exalted and spotlighted our love as something wonderful and sweet and beautiful.
Now, I have to admit I'm a bit of a geek for them lol
Congratulations to you luke hodgson for being just about the first critic i have watched on youtube whose criticism of RWRB wasn't a load of subjective twaddle about him or herself but instead was about the movie you were watching. i know you are not a particular fan of rom-com's but that this film slowly won you over; hell, i don't even know if or not you're gay--nor do i care. I watched someone react in time as RWRB progressed. the fact that i agreed with your reactions was great--but mostly thank you for your professionalism!
I really enjoyed your genuine reactions to this film. They were true to the book and there was some very good acting. in this heartwarming (if not heart-stopping) film.
I think the author has clarified exactly why Henry didn't name, his dog David, Bowie... And I'm pretty sure they said it in an annotated copy of the book that was given to someone through a charity auction and that person then shared some of it with us
...and it was because Henry was afraid that people would assume that he was gay if he named his dog after Bowie that blatantly. And at that time he was attempting to do EVERYTHING in his power to not have any reason for people to assume that about him.
Which is...kinda heartbreaking ...how SCARED he was.... that he like had to strategically choose a dog named that was "less gay" and was more of a subtle reference only he would know... But it's unfortunately a common thing that people who are very deeply within the closet do.
Luke, I just happened upon your review of RWRB and OMG you had me dying over here. I loved seeing the movie for a 4th time through your eyes. I absolutely love your way of reviewing this movie 🎬. BTW I'm a 65 yr old gay widower from the States, Ohio to be exact. I look forward to watching your next review. Thanks again for the great review of RWRB. 👍
Loved your reaction. I saw the movie myself and it was fun to travel it again with you. Great editing!
I came across your reaction after I had already seen the film twice and read the book twice. I appreciate your honest emotion. Also, your video enhancements are great.
You're becoming my favourite reactor. Love how genuine you are! Binged your Heartstopper videos today. Keep it up! 👍🏻
So glad you enjoyed the film. Your edits were a hoot! I actually laughed out loud several times. (You know it’s true because “lol” just isn’t enough.). 😄
“Insert” I died 😂
Such a great reaction, glad enjoyed it ❤
Honestly, yours is perhaps my favorite reaction to this fabulous, silly, romantic, sexy, hot, diverse romcom. And it's definetely GAY and HOT GAY. I guess I'm so much pleased by your reaction it's because you, like me had never read the book. I remember having it in my hands but leafling through it, those messages put me off and did not get it. Now I got it today through Amazon, but I'm not too excited to read it because the movie is PERFECT for me. Anyway, I will at least go through those pages with Taylor and Nicholas in mind and I'm sure I will enjoy that, whatever the narrative is. LOL Aren't they hot?. And the chemistry!. I also love this more that Young Royals and Heartstopper because these are adult gay guys, not teens (and in Nick and Charlie, sexless teens WTF). Anyway, I got carried away, blame it to half a bottle of cava... LOL. Really thank you for your reaction, so close to my feelings... I like you 😊
The movie is as accurate as it could be for their love story, they changed the political stuff to simplify it and cut out some extra cast. Basically the book just gives you way more and is actually in my opinion a lot funnier in parts.
This reaction is the cutest thing seriously thank u so amazing to watch love it love ot
Thank you so much!!
@@NottsLaad keep up the good work 😎
Your heartfelt reaction has made my day I have watched this movie so many times and your reactions were just beautiful ❤

Just came across your channel and have never seen anything about you before. So having said that, I just want to tell you, you are so Fuc**ng adorable, and your reactions to this film were precious. Looking forward to seeing further reactions from you on other films. Cheers!
Thanks for this comment, hope you enjoy the channel ❤️
I was genuinely impressed with how good and funny the editing was. Your reaction was great. Really liked the video.
Great reactions -- you made everything so personally experienced -- it was great reliving those scenes with you.
It's rather ironic that Stephen Fry plays the king! lol
This was so so precious
Thanks, Luke. Great reaction!
OMG I really LOVE your reaction! This is gold and I enjoy every second of it as much as you enjoy the movie. And also, your editing is everything it makes me giggles a lot. So glad that you’re giving this a chance when you said you don’t like rom com in the first place. I also like that you highlight the chemistry of the actors. Their dynamic and chemistry is off chart.
Thank you for your review. I went through a box of tissues. 😢
I’ve watched it 3 times already. Tonight will be the forty. With the neighbor/friend & his girlfriend.
Ordered the book it’s delayed another week. I’m so looking forward to what was left out. ❤🤍👑💙
🤴🏻💓🤵🏻♂️
It is worth waiting for.
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Taylor and Nick is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before.
I have now seen it 47 times, I am not kidding! It just gets better and better!!! my new comfort movie
Also have prime now for a whole year only for this movie🥰
Loved your reaction! Welcome to the rwrb stans! ❤️🤍💙 Read the book if you can, you'll understand much more their story ans love Alex and Henry even more! 🥰
What a fun, wonderful, heartfelt reaction! Subscribed.
It was so nice watching you react to this movie. You did such a great job. I loved your reactions.
Another great reaction Luke thanks for sharing insert had me 🤣
Luke. Your reactions are adorable. It’s funny how in the middle of the movie (right after that beautiful sex sequence) you get pulled in and you start rooting for those two, and you get emotional at times. It’s a magical movie. That sex scene is so beautifully done it gives full credibility to the story and those two.
I know the feels they're making me feel lonely as well😭 anyways loved the reaction man!! gotta check out ur heartstopper reaction!!
Loved your reaction Luke ! You definitely have my favorite editing style, very funny, witty and made in a way that makes it easy to follow the story with you! Can't wait to explore more of your channel!
(the filter on Miguel's face was so funny, i screamed lmaoooo 20:46)
Hey Luke, loved your video. I have seen a couple of 'reactions', yours is by far the best. I would argue that RWRB is not a rom com, but a rom drama. Either way, I shed a tear or two as well.
I have just finished reading the book (saw the movie first) and would recommend it to you. The emails that caused so much angst, in particular some of Henry's to Alex are truly poetic. In reply, there is one of Alex's were he says
"I cant match you for prose, but what I can do is write you a list...
1. The sound ...
2. The way ...
3. The thing ...
16. Your huge, generous, ridiculous, indestructible heart.
17. Your equally huge d___
18. The face you just made when you read the last one.
..."
