I love it how much is Phlearn lately more and more about photography (camera and light setup) tutorials and not just Photoshop editing. Keep up the good job Aaron and the rest of the Phlearn gang!
It was the next natural step. I'd say shooting 600 Photoshop tutorials in six years is probably a good start, but now we need to expand into Photograpbhy more.
I use a 5-1 reflector disc to bounce light back into the shadows for quick portraits in my makeshift home studio. They really help and are really cost effective.
Thanks for this, Aaron. Watching the video I was reminded of beauty photographer Nancy Brown's "head shot booth" - three 4x8 sheets of Fome-Cor and a small white artist's table. One studio light in a silver umbrella in front, another light on the 4x8 background. This was in the days of Kodachrome 25 and Agfapan 25. Just basic beauty lighting that "got out of the way" and let the model, clothing, hair, and props shine. I tried it and loved the b&w portraits I got with Agfapan (remember Rodinal?).
I use reflectors with my underwater photography! That way I don't get refraction on the models' faces, and it fills in shadowing better than underwater lighting.
Hi I am looking to achieve some soft light with a softbox and 5 in 1 reflectors, but I feel I look greasy. Is that a light set up problem or a camera problem?
That's awesome! I don't think most new photographers realize how many different things you can hack together to use as a reflector, light source, light stand, etc... The possibilities are endless.
Awesome video as always. :) I was wondering what that heavy duty light stand you are using in the angel lighting portion is. Mostly I'm finally outgrowing my cheap 'chinesium' light stands and would like to upgrade to something solid that will last forever, but have no idea on where to start looking.
Isn't look 3 the same as simply using a softbox, or have I missed something? Either way, a great video on multiple ways of reflecting / softening light for portraiture.

It was only a matter of time before they covered photoshop in it's entirety lol

Hi I am looking to achieve some soft light with a softbox and 5 in 1 reflectors, but I feel I look greasy. Is that a light set up problem or a camera problem?
Once, I used a white vinyl fence for a key light, and a sheet of plywood for my reflector.
That's awesome! I don't think most new photographers realize how many different things you can hack together to use as a reflector, light source, light stand, etc... The possibilities are endless.

Any ideas on self portraits?
Do you have specific angles of pointing out a reflector?
very informative
Hey Aaron, thank you for the tips !
Would you say that the modeling light is mandatory ? Or can we achieve similar results with cobra flash only ?
Got the reflectors and light stand but where do I get the "knuckle" or holder apparatus?
B&H
Hi! What kind of background do you use?!
It's a large black sheet of paper.
what are the best modes of shooting portraits @night in canon
Sir tell me how we can camera raw filter panel in Photoshop with the layer panel
You can find the camera raw filter in the filter panel, window hot keys are Shift+Ctrl+A. I hope this helps.
Im totally in love with that girl in the video
Hmm, very nice video.
Good video. Your model has just about perfect skin tone :-) She looks like you could do a close up portrait and use a Nikon 85mm or the new 105 :-)
I miss the pony tail.... oh, and nice lesson!
how do i get hold of you?
6:11 what kind of boom stick is that ?
Are u able to ship this product to Africa?
we probably need to use this idea
Derrick Files Ug It is available on amazon you can search for 5 in 1 reflector
👌
how can i contact you.
Good guide. Very beautiful women
Whats the thing that goes on the top of the stand that holds the reflector?
For a pragrammer that are actually 6 ways. We count the 0, you count the 5 (two times :D ). But still nice video
I think that girl in the video is somehow related to Aaron
My bell wasn't activated! Is now.

Aaron, I couldn't hear anything you said. Your shirt was too loud.
+Danny Hopkin That's not even his loudest. That's like a 6 out of 10 on the loud scale.
I'll be anxious to see a 10 on the next video :)
I actually went to high school with that girl.
i hope i know her too :(
please what's her instagram?
Wait I know that girl
who is she ?
Like !
Why 6?
So fast... unable to understand
6 ways, huh? :D
Yup, snuck another one in there.
