Low Key lighting is more then simply photographing against a black background. Join us in this episode as photographer Gavin Hoey explains the technique of a correctly exposed image that mostly learns towards the dark side.
If you shoot in a small home or portable studio, low key lighting is one of the best lighting styles to learn and this video will give you some amazing ideas to start you off.

Low key, Metering and Photoshop!
Gavin has probably the best tutorials. They are professional and Gavin has such a good energy, it is inspiring to listen to him. I love the simplicity of his teaching and it's easy to follow his advice step by step in order to learn. Added with the professional quality in the films, both video and audio, these are so good.
Damn that trick with removing the softbox was so good! Learning a lot of your videos

This was great to watch a real feeling of nostalgia as I remember your PS tutorials from when I used to get Digital Photo magazine which came with the great and varied photo tutorial CD's, (Which I still have and taught me many PS tips and tricks)

WOW! This is by far the best video on low light that I have seen.
The Camera RAW part was super informative. I've been using Photoshop for a very long time and I've always done those kinds of edits 'manually' after the Camera RAW adjustments. It's effectively the same result, but this technique is really slick. Thank you.
