How to FIX BROKEN R2 + L2 Buttons on PS4 CONTROLLER (Button Replacement)

Is your PS4 Controller R2 or L2 button sticking or just not working in general? In this video, I am going to show you how to take apart your PS4 controller and replace your broken button. Taking apart your PS4 controller is rather easy, you will need a small scrw driver and about 10 minutes of time.
I've had to repair my dualshock 4 controller about 5 times since I've bought it. If I didn't by extra buttons, I would have just threw away the controller and bought a new one, so this guide can save you money. And don't be afraid to try this out, it's easy! Just be careful and move slow.

Saved me $65. I’ll admit I was a little intimidated to take a PS4 controller apart but everything stays in the front area and swapping out an R2 button with a broken peg was super easy. Got a 5 pack of L2/R2 buttons and springs off Amazon for $7 and went ahead and bought a TX9 so I can clean the dust out from my console using your other video. Thank you 😊

@@ayogoose3535 find out if you have the v1 or the v2(light bar on touch bar) and buy the replacement bumpers. It's fairly easy to take apart and swap the pieces out. If that doesn't work then buy a new pad. They're fairly cheap

The trick I use is to pry from around where you plug in headphones first then i pry from the l2 r2 sides of the controllers

My R2 button was locked open and I used this video to fix it. My controller is a 2018 model I believe and the spring is in a different location but this video still helps a lot.

Same here, the spring for my R2 button isnt located on the actual button like how he did it. When I put the new R2 button on it, it presses normal but the game and responding like I'm barely pressing the button down.

the main trouble i was having was in removing one of the trigger buttons from the bottom side of the clamshell, exactly as it happened to you in your video. Regardless of my method to remove the button, it remained adamant in its place. The spring associated with it however, had come lose so it was imperative that the trigger button be removed so that the spring can be replaced. Only after watching your helpful video was it clear that there was a slight trick to removing it; and once the said trick was employed, removing the trigger ceased to be an obstacle. Thank you very much for this freely provided knowledge.

I stepped on my DualShock and the L2 button popped out. Thankfully the spring was still intact, so all I had to do was open the controller to be able to snap the button back in, and this video helped me do it.

I use a drill bit to get through the head of the screen then when you take the back off thread the stud of the left over screw out and replace with another or just yolo the three others lol

"anything will do" is not a good thing to say when it comes to screwdrivers. It's a Phillips head which is pretty common but if someone uses the wrong driver then it could ruin the threads on the screws preventing them from opening their controller.

I looked online and people said that you should clean it out. Down at the L2 buttone was some dirt or something, so I took a toothpick and cleaned that out. I also put my mouth on the L3 button and try to blow in it. All of that worked and I don't have it anymore

I still have my ps4 controller from 2018 and the L2 stopped working. I took apart the controller and took a look at L2 replaced it with another L2 from another controller and that wasn’t the problem. The thing under the L2 is. It won’t work when I touch it but L1 works. The only choice I have is to buy a new one

If by any of you have the problem is that you can’t go full acceleration or full sprint speed or any problem of that kind, you should open up your controller and under the R2 (or L2) trigger there is a rubber which is probably broken or has a cut in it. If you replace that rubber or tape a really small plastic (need a strong plastic so the button doesn’t go through it) on it, it is fixed and your button works again.

NikobsuperGaming PL if you pause this video at 3:45 you can see the rubber (the grey thing where he puts the R2 button over) that is the rubber that is probably broken. So just follow this video on how you get to the point where you see the rubber and when you see the rubber, fix it with some strong tape or order a new rubber online and replace it
