No sound broken parts when I shake the controller. So not sure why my l1 doesn't work at all. The aluminum foil works partially. It will randomly engage although I haven't push the l1 button. Will try thinner or thicker foil.

Just put tape at thw bottom of the L2 R2 button...like theres a place wheres its curve just put 3 or 4 layer and you will be good i did it once and it work..but sometime it can be the pad problem like its not place propaly just try both and if still doesnt work clean the area for old controller if doesnt work too then its time for new button and pad or controller 😊

I think my conductive tracer/film under the L1 L2 look different to yours .. if I do the way you've shown, the L1 and L2 can both trigger randomly because putting pressure on L2 seems to complete the circuit for L1 and L2 at the same time... ...I can trigger both independently with the buttons off, but with them on, pressing L2 triggers either because the controller is registering both signals... Is there a generation of controller where the L1 and L2 signals are registered in different places? I think that's the problem I'm having with this fix... I can just see the one spot under the L2 where I can trigger both signals from (L1l2). Don't have the fidelity with the trigger on the trigger one signal at a time though..
This trick didn’t work for me but this is exactly what happened to my controller but just the opposite side. Bought this controller like two months ago, this just started yesterday. Tried the tin foil bow tie trick and idk if I didn’t crumple it enough or what but L1 and L2 work just fine so I switched that rubber piece over to the other side and it still didn’t work so I think it’s more internal than I’m prepared to go so off to Walmart for another new 60 dollar controller that will break again in two months. Great video though. Haha

If u have a spare controller that isnt working take the circuit board ribbon off the side that is not working and switch it with the one from the other controller clean the ribbons and contact areas and it should work.

Well for better and faster you could just use tweezers and carefully pry out your L1 or R1 and when you fully get the trigger button out of the controller there should be a little white sorta rubber small button used to make the L1/R1 work use your finger to press to make sure it works and it’s not the trigger that’s broken then put the trigger back in that’s what I did and it worked

My rubber peace doesn't have that lip??? It looks like it's supposed to insert directly into the plastic of the controller on the opposite side. It's not torn or damaged either

How do you fix, when I hold down my l2 button for aiming the aim moves up without me pushing up so I have to compensate by holding down a little bit, if I just hold the l2 button I'll be looking at the sky

Hey if you're like me who already did this and the r1/l1/r2/l2 button still doesn't work, it might be the green contact trace on the plastic that is not connecting well to the gray contact trace. What I did was to get a pencil and basically traced/drew a line going from the green contact trace to the grey contact trace (do it a couple times like you're shading with the pencil but don't overdo it). Now try to put back the rubber pads and see if the contacts have been connected by the pencil line you drew (pencil has lead in it so it can make a contact), just try and try till the button finally responds. Hope this helps.

ngl I tried this with an offbrand controller and It eventually worked, However when I press L1( the fixed one) and L2, only L2 works halfway. Its not a huge deal but its something to point out.
My controller worked perfectly fine, I took it apart to clean it and when I put it back together the l1 stopped working, I tryed this, tryed cleaning it, tryed swapping the butten pad thing and it wont work.... wtfff

I just cleaned mi e thoroughly. The dark circular contact material gets sticky you have to clean it. Then it will work.

Open the joystick , unplug the battery n outside cover carefully, then left n right stick blow n clean it with alcohol thats it boom
