An absolutely helpful and very detailed instruction video, I was able to fix mine pretty easily, this helped me avoid taking the easy but expensive route 😂 it would be easy to discard a broken controller, send it off for repair or buy another one, this is by far the best economical solution, thanks for your efforts.
I have some issues with my R2 auto shooting, so i tried opening it up to see if it looked ok and the spring was still in place. So i think its the resistance thats broken. It works fine now i think, it just makes a small mechanical squeak when i press it though
I managed to replace the spring on L2, but I believe I damaged my ribbon cable in the process. Neither L1 or L2 are responsive now. I believed it would be better to use the precision tweezers to remove and replace it and I suspect I damaged it when the tweezers slipped. I should have just pulled them out with my fingers as you suggested. Thanks for the video. Very well explained. Edit: After replacing the ribbon cable, controller is as good as new!
Repair shop said it was gonna be $60 to fix since they need a "special part" lol. Spent $6 on amazon for some replacement springs instead. Excellent video. Many thanks
This video is straight to the point, spot on with instructions and the difficulty regarding certain steps and it most certainly helped me fix my broken triggers! Overall, really really helpful! I’d just like to point out it would be nice to add a list of all the tools required for this fix st the start of the video… Thank you so much, sir!
Thanks so much for this, what i thought was going to be a £29 fix, became a £1.39 and 5 minutes of my time! Luckily already had small screwdrivers and prying tools lying around
Thanks for the instructions! It was done in a way that was very approachable. I don't think the adaptive triggers is necessarily a quality issue, the spring is a mechanical part and will definitely wear out under tension. It's nice that the right trigger was easy to do, not looking forward to having to do the left ever
Thank you so much you are so awesome and helpful man! The spring was missing like you said, and I didn’t even use tape at all just held the spring with my finger and forced the other pc around with tweezers but they sure are so small and hard to deal with, great instructions with visuals!
i was watching your tutorial my spring for the r2 button is completely broken and flew off i enjoyed this video and will follow the instructions again once i replace it
My R2 trigger is feeling softer than my other triggers on my controllers. I thought it may be a spring issue so I'm definitely going to try this technique. Im hoping it's not a dual sense motor problem
My issue is that the L2 button is kinda stuck at first and then it runs fine. I got a Precision Screwdrive kit and started to work following your video and of course the controller was fine all that day 🙄😅. In any case, I am going to buy the springs and change that one anyway.
Going to let everyone know that sometimes these things get stuck on nothing, I just slapped mine really hard and it fixed it. If you have a loose button it almost certainly is a broken spring, but if it sticks it could be a number of things. Back when I played the Xbox one a lot it was often from loose debris or broken plastic bits that would get behind the controls triggers. For this ps5 controller I have no clue what caused it to stick, literally happened overnight. It looked slightly popped out of its place and was raised up. After taking off the front Black plate thingy and failing to find a Philips screwdriver small enough to take off the main frame, I just hit the controllers trigger hard and it popped back into place and the spring seems to work fine. Had I not done that I wouldn’t likely considered it to be completely broken or at least needing a replacement spring (which definitely was not needed obviously). Definitely not a strong recommendation, but it certainly beats thinking the controller is inoperable when in reality it’s completely functional and works fine. I’m glad I gave it a good hit, just be careful not to hit too hard 😂
Had to pull out the springs from one controller with drift that I had fixed once already. Didn't last long. Put those 2 springs in my other controllers that had a laft broken trigger on one and a right broken trigger on the other. When removing the left from the drift controller it flung off and lost it. I did manage to find it 😂. Now instead of 3 broken controllers I have 2 working ones and 1 broken one. 🎉
Bro consoles come out every 7 years there's a thing called inflation over 7 years of course your gunna pay more the same way a beer costs you more each year that goes past use your brain mate, they also fixed the design issues that's what you get for buying a first model first models all have issues wait a year of two after release before buying so they can fix all the design flaws
Thank you Interesting how R2 and L2 have their springs placed in different orientation. R2 was made easy, not so much L2. Thank you for pointing that out.
Just so others see this comment, this worked for me! My L2 trigger was “stuck”, took it apart and seen nothing wrong with the spring. Decided to take it out anyways and realized it had moved from a drop on the ground. Popped it back in properly and it works like a charm. Thank you!
Bro thank you for your detailed tear down, I dropped my controller and the left trigger spring slipped out and wasn’t returning the trigger completely forward, I was able to assess the issue and fixed it.
Thank you for this! I've never had controllers wear this fast, but I hear some loose piece when I shake the controller. Ofcourse it R2 and it's one of the button that gets used the most. Now I'm gonna order some springs! Thanks again!
Will this fix my dualsense adaptive trigger basically not working? My R2's adaptive feel works, however, the L2 one is adaptive is literally no existent.
Thank you very much for the tutorial! I unfortunately had to replace the left spring and opted to not take apart further like you did. It was a PAIN but it could be done, cheers!
oh dude, i was struggling with l2 spring for 3 hours, nobody on youtube went your way and your video helped me alot i was like 10mins from throwing the controller out of window xD
I was really scared but it worked even though my controller was a different model, I have the CFI-ZCT1W, and my L2 button was holding itself down although not being pressed, which either wouldn’t allow me to press buttons ingame or I just couldn’t use the L2 button, I only replaced the L2 spring (without using the tape to hold it in place), it was a struggle but I managed and I reassembled the controller and tested it out in Street Fighter 6, I’m pleased to let you all know it works like a charm since I assign L2 to my OD moves! Thanks a bunch, you’ve saved me a controller!
Thanks for the video man! I was able to replace the spring with the one in my dualshock 4 and it worked just fine. That said, it seems less sturdy, but its a very good temporary solution.
So ...just finished repairing my L2 by replacing the spring...for your information, I managed to replace the L2 spring without removing the battery... I put one arm of the spring under the trigger, then fixated the spring on the hook with the tip of my thumb...and then violently stuffed the other arm into it's place...of course the arm of the spring is slightly bend afterwards, but its bent inwards so it should stay in place...the risk for me was too high to tear a ribbon cable and trash the whole thing... unfortunately my tweezers didn't have a grip area at the tip...and it was pretty flexible, soft plastic...if I had sturdier tweezers and had a better grip on the arm to apply the needed force, to bend the arm, it would be much faster and easier probably...sorry if my description is confusing, my nerves lay blank now 😅 It's unbelievable how careless the springs are positioned in there...they are destined to fall out sooner or later...well, at least my L2 doesn't feel like wobbly shit anymore...I wish everyone good luck with that nasty spring, especially on L2 ❤
My left adaptive trigger doesn't have any active resistance anymore in games etc. But when the controller is turned off they both feel exactly the same, or in the menu or whatever
Good video. The spring at the right trigger for my ps5 controller broke nearly as soon as I got the ps5. I had a ps4 with 4 controllers so I was able to remove a right trigger spring from the ps4 controller and place it into the right trigger of the ps5. Although I will note that the spring from the ps4 onto the ps5 controller looked identical to the spring that was on the left trigger which was fine.
Hour 1: hands shaking, but I'm confident. Hour 2: almost out of tape, 2 of my replacement springs got lost. Hour 4: this is my last spring, it's now or never. Hour 5: f*ck that, I'm buying a new controller..
Nothing wrong with my spring; simply disassembling seemed to clear all the problems. Tested it and my trigger works just fine. Thank you for the amazing detailed explanation and imagery!!!
My L2 is the one thats not working. I took the controller apart and the spring and everything looks perfect. The problem im having is that the L2 is constantly on despite me not pressing it. For example if i go into gta and hop into a car it will always reverse. Ive tried all the different solutions like pulling it up or banging on it but nothing seems to work.
Thanks for the amazing tutorial, i needed to remove everything to do the L2 spring replace and followed you step by step successfully, so thanks! Little problem though. The ribbon for the speaker. Once i removed it the little square rubber on top of it (the thing with the hole it it) was removed and i cant seem to put it back in place. Is it important?/ how to put it back in? Edit: nvm i figured it out. Just incase someone had the same issue. The square rubber itself can be opened (hard to explain how but it becomes like an open-mouth pac-man) which you then make it bite through the end part of the speaker ribbon and put back in its square hole.

Awesome video my controller is now fixed!
thank you for helping me, you have nice hands ;)
Thankyou fixed both controllers within 30 min🙏🏼
Thanks for the video. Mine's the R2-trigger. Thank god.
This was very helpful thank you 😊
Thanks broo...you saved me soooo much moneyy❤
Legend. Saved my sanity and money ❤
Thank you for this.
Yes, proudly when I did this. 💪
Thats it? Because of this i wanted to buy a new controller? Thank You man!

Thanks bro this helped i just had to blow in my R2 button was making some dogy noise 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU FIXED MY CONTROLLER!!
Thanks for the help.
Dude. Thank you!
Awesome video

Thanks for the tutorial. Instant sub!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Thank you very much, your tutorial is crystal clear, and I was lucky because the broken spring was R2 😂
Worked a treat thanks :) infact one of pads didn't even have a spring
Thank you ! I had a jammed r2 button and I didn’t know how to take this controller apart. I fixed it ❤
Thanks for that! Worked like a charm :-)
Just saved me £60 my dude. Thank you so much
Repair shop said it was gonna be $60 to fix since they need a "special part" lol. Spent $6 on amazon for some replacement springs instead. Excellent video. Many thanks
At that right you may as well buy a new controller 😂
It worked!! Thanks
Good to hear
Thank you so much!
Worked great. Replaced both and they're like new again. Thanks so much.
Very helpful😊👍
Nice trick my friend.

Thanks in advance. My R2 is loose since yesterday. I ordered replacements. Hopfully i can do it
Worked out wonderfully. Thank you !
Help me so much. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much for this video it’s saved me from spending £70 for a new controller!
Glad they made the R2 spring easier to replace.
Thanks man, great vid. Got mine working all good now.
Great video ! Used the spring from my old ps4 controller worked like a charm 👌
Thanks... Great video angles to show how spring sits on the notches
Thanks. I feel visuals are important when teaching repairs on tiny things.
Thanks. Had to come back and watch this. 2nd time the spring break on me already. Luckily, I bought a bulk of 30 springs.
Thanks so much for this, what i thought was going to be a £29 fix, became a £1.39 and 5 minutes of my time! Luckily already had small screwdrivers and prying tools lying around
Worked great! What did people do before youtube tutorials?
Used one from my ps4 controller and worked . Its about 80 percent of the original strength can't really tell the difference if i didnt know
Thanks for the instructions! It was done in a way that was very approachable. I don't think the adaptive triggers is necessarily a quality issue, the spring is a mechanical part and will definitely wear out under tension. It's nice that the right trigger was easy to do, not looking forward to having to do the left ever
The tape trick with the spring was clutch. Much appreciated for the video!!
Thank you so much you are so awesome and helpful man! The spring was missing like you said, and I didn’t even use tape at all just held the spring with my finger and forced the other pc around with tweezers but they sure are so small and hard to deal with, great instructions with visuals!

Omg, you're actually a genius! Thanks so much!!
i was watching your tutorial my spring for the r2 button is completely broken and flew off i enjoyed this video and will follow the instructions again once i replace it

Good to know these controllers keep getting more and more expensive with each console generation,, and have a year lifespan.
Mine broke after month
Wish it was a year. The right trigger spring snapped after a couple of weeks of use.
Mine broke on ghe day i got it
i think i should start reading books instead

Just replaced the spring on my L2. I took my time on it but managed to get it done. Thank you so much!
Thanks man i thought my R2 Spring was broken but i checked it with the help of your video within a few minutes and its completely normal
Thank you for making this video! It helped me successfully replace my trigger spring
The tape trick is awesome!!! worked for me and changed this spring in just a few seconds!!! Thanks a lot!!
Thank you

tore the ribbon connector trying to pull it out with my fingers. thanks.

So the PS4 JDS-030/040 springs look just like the PS5 springs...are they identical? 🤔
Worked a charm. Took me 30 minutes. Saved me $70. Lifelong subscriber now. Thanks.
Bro thank you for your detailed tear down, I dropped my controller and the left trigger spring slipped out and wasn’t returning the trigger completely forward, I was able to assess the issue and fixed it.

Glad it helped.
same, did this a few months ago, bought a 30 pack replacement, probably lost 10 doing it. i wish i knew about this way.
Im Just asking but can you use the r2 spring for the l2
Thank you very much! I was about to buy another controller but I followed along with your video and now I'm good 😁.
Like if u also hated replacing the L2 spring
What about the mini springs on the other side?
Awaiting for my springs to arrive, sure enough a missing L2 spring when disassembled, i'll hopefully replace both when they arrive.

Very helpful video Altho the solution to my problem was just to turn off the Trigger Effect Sensitivity
The tip about the tape to keep the spring in place worked wonders, thank you for the great video
Hey man I tried this and the steps were great, except the r2 spring was on the inside as well. Is that weird ?
ok, but why is my spring bad? i dont even use l2 like i play with flipped. i use l1 to aim, not l2, and never got my controlller faull
my L2 button has snapped in half . does this require further disasembly than the spring to replace
Man thank you a lot I needed this
Nothing wrong with my spring; simply disassembling seemed to clear all the problems. Tested it and my trigger works just fine. Thank you for the amazing detailed explanation and imagery!!!
Thx will try
@@fatherkarl9291see
Same for me it was really weird
Hero
Hey man, my springs are fine but my r2 is still stuck around the 50% mark.
saved me 60 bucks

Thanks! Worked perfectly fine
The original spring fell apart in my hand when I took it out thanks sony. But I replaced my R2 spring now feels mugh better thanks!
