An absolutely helpful and very detailed instruction video, I was able to fix mine pretty easily, this helped me avoid taking the easy but expensive route 😂 it would be easy to discard a broken controller, send it off for repair or buy another one, this is by far the best economical solution, thanks for your efforts.

I have some issues with my R2 auto shooting, so i tried opening it up to see if it looked ok and the spring was still in place. So i think its the resistance thats broken. It works fine now i think, it just makes a small mechanical squeak when i press it though

I managed to replace the spring on L2, but I believe I damaged my ribbon cable in the process. Neither L1 or L2 are responsive now.
I believed it would be better to use the precision tweezers to remove and replace it and I suspect I damaged it when the tweezers slipped. I should have just pulled them out with my fingers as you suggested.
Thanks for the video. Very well explained.
Edit: After replacing the ribbon cable, controller is as good as new!

Thanks for the instructions! It was done in a way that was very approachable. I don't think the adaptive triggers is necessarily a quality issue, the spring is a mechanical part and will definitely wear out under tension. It's nice that the right trigger was easy to do, not looking forward to having to do the left ever

My issue is that the L2 button is kinda stuck at first and then it runs fine. I got a Precision Screwdrive kit and started to work following your video and of course the controller was fine all that day 🙄😅.
In any case, I am going to buy the springs and change that one anyway.

  • @MrManatee101
    @MrManatee101 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Going to let everyone know that sometimes these things get stuck on nothing, I just slapped mine really hard and it fixed it. If you have a loose button it almost certainly is a broken spring, but if it sticks it could be a number of things. Back when I played the Xbox one a lot it was often from loose debris or broken plastic bits that would get behind the controls triggers. For this ps5 controller I have no clue what caused it to stick, literally happened overnight. It looked slightly popped out of its place and was raised up. After taking off the front Black plate thingy and failing to find a Philips screwdriver small enough to take off the main frame, I just hit the controllers trigger hard and it popped back into place and the spring seems to work fine. Had I not done that I wouldn’t likely considered it to be completely broken or at least needing a replacement spring (which definitely was not needed obviously). Definitely not a strong recommendation, but it certainly beats thinking the controller is inoperable when in reality it’s completely functional and works fine. I’m glad I gave it a good hit, just be careful not to hit too hard 😂

Had to pull out the springs from one controller with drift that I had fixed once already. Didn't last long. Put those 2 springs in my other controllers that had a laft broken trigger on one and a right broken trigger on the other. When removing the left from the drift controller it flung off and lost it. I did manage to find it 😂. Now instead of 3 broken controllers I have 2 working ones and 1 broken one. 🎉

Bro consoles come out every 7 years there's a thing called inflation over 7 years of course your gunna pay more the same way a beer costs you more each year that goes past use your brain mate, they also fixed the design issues that's what you get for buying a first model first models all have issues wait a year of two after release before buying so they can fix all the design flaws

I was really scared but it worked even though my controller was a different model, I have the CFI-ZCT1W, and my L2 button was holding itself down although not being pressed, which either wouldn’t allow me to press buttons ingame or I just couldn’t use the L2 button, I only replaced the L2 spring (without using the tape to hold it in place), it was a struggle but I managed and I reassembled the controller and tested it out in Street Fighter 6, I’m pleased to let you all know it works like a charm since I assign L2 to my OD moves! Thanks a bunch, you’ve saved me a controller!

So ...just finished repairing my L2 by replacing the spring...for your information, I managed to replace the L2 spring without removing the battery... I put one arm of the spring under the trigger, then fixated the spring on the hook with the tip of my thumb...and then violently stuffed the other arm into it's place...of course the arm of the spring is slightly bend afterwards, but its bent inwards so it should stay in place...the risk for me was too high to tear a ribbon cable and trash the whole thing... unfortunately my tweezers didn't have a grip area at the tip...and it was pretty flexible, soft plastic...if I had sturdier tweezers and had a better grip on the arm to apply the needed force, to bend the arm, it would be much faster and easier probably...sorry if my description is confusing, my nerves lay blank now 😅 It's unbelievable how careless the springs are positioned in there...they are destined to fall out sooner or later...well, at least my L2 doesn't feel like wobbly shit anymore...I wish everyone good luck with that nasty spring, especially on L2 ❤

Good video. The spring at the right trigger for my ps5 controller broke nearly as soon as I got the ps5. I had a ps4 with 4 controllers so I was able to remove a right trigger spring from the ps4 controller and place it into the right trigger of the ps5. Although I will note that the spring from the ps4 onto the ps5 controller looked identical to the spring that was on the left trigger which was fine.

For example if i go into gta and hop into a car it will always reverse. Ive tried all the different solutions like pulling it up or banging on it but nothing seems to work.

Thanks for the amazing tutorial, i needed to remove everything to do the L2 spring replace and followed you step by step successfully, so thanks!
Little problem though. The ribbon for the speaker. Once i removed it the little square rubber on top of it (the thing with the hole it it) was removed and i cant seem to put it back in place. Is it important?/ how to put it back in?
Edit: nvm i figured it out. Just incase someone had the same issue. The square rubber itself can be opened (hard to explain how but it becomes like an open-mouth pac-man) which you then make it bite through the end part of the speaker ribbon and put back in its square hole.
