I could have written that review myself. I think you absolutely nailed it. AC is all about the driving experience, the feel behind the wheel. It shines like no other game in that regard. It's lacking in some areas, but the feeling of being behind the wheel of so many unique cars and tracks is unmatched. Well done. Subbed.

I'm currently building a PVC racing sim and ordering the G29 soon (for GT Sport if they ever decide to release it). Mind you, I will NOT be getting AC on the PS4. I've heard too many bad reviews with the the console release. PC gameplay with force feedback and Eyefinity!!! Can't wait!

Very good review! Sums up Assetto Corsa really well, I completely agree with the Career aspect however I don't think (Originally) Kunos were ever going to make one so as an additional extra it isn't to bad. Great video as always!

I bought this game a few days ago. Even though my PC doesn't meet all of the requirements for it, I still had fun driving and racing these machines. I mostly do Practice races. This is a great game. Playing this game even to feel each car is worth the purchase. Recommended- even if your PC doesn't meet all the PC requirements!

If they made an Assetto Corsa 2 or any major updates for the game, what would really perfect it is changeable weather elements and proper night time driving.

You could possibly mention the VR compatibility as well, which is second to none in Assetto Corsa (Highly recommended), which looks and plays great, very immersive. You can use the Vive, and Oculus with it, I suggest the latter, but either add that extra dimension. Keep up the great reviews!

One of the reason why dynamic weather or night not implemented to the game is, they tried to keep hardware requirements as low as they can to keep visual quality on high level. The game is very CPU intensive and features, which defenitely would improve the immersion, would cost a lot for users with low spec PC's. My rig can run the game on just above medium settings, while iR runs maxed out. But the difference in render quality is significant. When you talks about DLS's, you said they comes with new tracks. New tracks comes with updates and those are free. Some of the updates contains DLC's too which addons are only the cars. Great review. I beleieve you sold this game for many of your viewers. And I got hooked to drift myself too, even I have never been intrested in it either. I subscribed.
Actually. Dynamic weather won't be coming soon™ because it's not "worth" spending countless hours of dev time on it compared to how much it'll be used (Something about cost/revenue). There are other things that are more important than dynamic weather (it would be nice to have though).
Not having night races isn't because of the game being too much for hardware, it's because the graphics engine simply can't support multiple light sources which are needed to have propper night/day transition & driving.
Rebuilding the whole graphics engine isn't worth the time so they won't be implementing this in AC1 but as soon as there will be a new AC (ac2?) it'll probably be implemented.

That's makes it too much for hardware. Every engine capable to render night with endless amount of lughtsources, but to make the engine efficient is what the issue. Example there is a sunlamp or HDR to create ambient light. Then there is as amny lights at the scene as many cars uses headlights. Even those headlights has no effect of the surroundigs, due different restrictions and settings via the graphics engine, they are still lightsources. Reflections and illumination what's makes the limit, not the number of objects. Objects count mostly effects physics calculation, which loads the CPU more than the GPU.

I would comment that you don't need to deliver the whole review in the same cadence of speech it gets a little repetitive maybe try a more conversational style combined with your delivery. That way it is a bit more varied and dynamic. Overall though good info look forward to more of your reviews.

subbed and liked, i think AC is missing a very important feature a competition broadcasting system there are mods that enable player camera switching by button click, also many mods for global leaderboards etc... it means that a stock feature is possible. In spectator mod you need to enter the game each time it means that you may be kicked before the end of the race. Asseto Corsa could implement this feature to have similar capabilities to iracing

Basic rule of racing: door must be alongside for overtaking driver to have the line. His front was only as far as your door, so definitely not clean and the resulting contact would have been grounds for reprimand.

Having all cars unlocked is the best way in more simulation style racers, I have played racing games a long time and I'm sick of career modes which have you spending hours in cars you have no interest in racing. Project Cars does it well with setting milestones etc and you are free to stick to a main discipline in your career with the opportunity to take part in other disciplines in between.
one thing that frustrate me is the lack of wheel support list for PS4. I would love to know if my fanatec CSW will work on the PS4, then I can go ahead and order it ! same for a good many others.

This game broke my heart because my ThrustMaster TH8A shifter don't work with it, even after the update. It woks fine with Project Cars and Gran Turismo.
Hiram Guerra Weird. Mine works fine. Make sure you are using cars that support it.
Get this: since I don't have a 3-pedal setup and H-pattern shifter, I use my Logitech Driving Force Pro's Sequential shifter for stickshift cars and the paddles for paddleshift cars
I also use the autoclutch and autoblip assists as well
rfactor 2 has better ffb, but I still play both. they have to fix the tyres, the temperatures are ice cold. even after 7-10 laps. check it out for your selfs.

you need to get a modified ps3 eye camera, a 3 point head tracking IR light and freetrack IR to really get the full experience on this. being able to look around by moving your head. best £35 i spent in a long time. I would also suggest an audio transducer for your chair for vibration.
Sounds like a feature that would be more useful in ETS2 :P I've been meaning to get around to making a track IR system for it using a cheap webcam.
You were saying how the career mode shouldnt have been there, but i have had the game since beta and the career mode came out around dream pack 2, so most cars were out before the career mode came out.

Correction for Console Players: You will be receiving the content from all the previous DLC packs on the PC version for no additional charge. That means tracks like Nordschleife & Barcelona and cars like the Mclaren P1 & Toyota Supra will already be available to you on Day One. The only DLC content you won't be receiving for free on Day One is called the "Red Pack". There will be a small additional charge for the contents of that DLC pack. Still, console players are getting over 20 cars and 2 or 3 tracks for free that us PC players had to pay additional charges for. Yup...Kunos IS just that cool of a company!! You would be foolish to skip this title on PS4 or Xbox One.

Just a quick note in regards with the career progression. I don't think the developers were going for an arcade-ish simulator. Personally, it was the first time I was happy there is no reward system. If you want to hear clapping and tunes when you win, then yeah Mario and Sonic would be better. This is about driving, only about driving and the thrill of it.
Really good review, but I would low the game volume a bit down in order to listening to you better.
what is your usual difficulty level when racing ai.... my opinion.. its extremely hard.... in the BEAT THE CHAMPIONS challenge i was able to finish 2nd that too in medium difficulty... which is 92%.... what are your settings
Not sure, I don't race with AI much, but I do know that some of the challenges take a LOT of experience to get gold/first.
Im getting seasick in third person vieuw ,when the car straightens up after a turn its like you slip away !
Assetto Corsa is defenetly best sim. Its so good that you can learn new drive techniks and move them to real life. Its absolutely best sim, physics and ffb are so good.

Has anyone played GTR2 from Simbin (very old game but it has some of the best physics ever)? How similar is this to it?
Not so similair, GTR2 was great for it's time but AC physics are far more advanced.
After watching "the best rF2 review", somewhat suprised to hear pretty "positively flat" review of AC.
Missed moments:
+ Suprisingly affortable price, especially in comparison to (unbelivable at first) "best of the best" content.
+ DLC - smartest approach of gradually released, cheap as "lunch" content that supports continuous development
+ Console releases make it even more "best / affortable" product for masses
- Lack of good sound engine
- Not the best netcode, to say the least
- Somewhat (too) forgiving physics
- Not all official tracks are laser scanned, but pace is much better than iR
Anyone can give me an advise if its worth to buy asetto corsa on ps4 or wait for gran turismo sport ? im not a big fan of cars
if you have a wheel you have to try asseto corsa
the reason the cars are all unlocked is caus it's so realistic that some people may not be good enough to ever unlock some stuff.

All that excellent attention to detail, the feel, the sounds, the unique behaviour of each car, the tracks scanned to within mm's....and the drivers fucking feet don't move.
C'mon.
It's one of the games biggest flaws. When I bought Project Cars I spent 30 minutes just watching the drivers feet move in time with mine. Surreal.

I have been racing project cars for some time now and I'm planning on purchasing AC on console. now my question is this. does ac have a strong need for tuning the cars as pcars? in pcars the standard tunes are not competitive enough especially for multiplayer. it took me some time to learn this and I'm still not thoroughly proficient. this is what I liked about pcars, it forces you to develop other skills other than just driving.
AC almost doesn't have tuning. You can change some tire pressures and ride heights, but that's about it for the majority of the cars. Some have fancy options like brake pressure/balance, downforce, or gear ratio, but not by much.
It is more realistic than PCars, but overall if you enjoy it, just stick with it. AC really isn't very good.

I really enjoy putting in the extra work to get the car handling properly and to my preference. so unless AC has an immersive tuning aspect then I will go no further than trying the demo, if there will be one.

Assetto Corsa is quite disappointing in that, and frankly almost every other regard. PCars is a lot less realistic physics wise, but it has way more to offer. Also, apparently the console version of AC looks pretty awful with obvious downgrades, which, if t=you've seen the game, is unacceptable. It's really poorly optimized, and I run it at above 100FPS and it never feels as smooth as PCars at a lower framerate.
+JZStudiosonline this is all good information. I'm not sure why people are saying pcars physics is inferior. from what I understand everything is there. grip levels change accordingly, fwd, rwd, mid engine, all have proper characteristics. lift off overseer, power on/snap overseer, certain curbs with certain cars just don't mix well. even driving styles matter, smoother is usually faster and you can even feel the grip develop when you stop scrubbing the heck out of the tires. I mean, I haven't tried ac obviously or other top sims like IRacing but I'm not sure why people still knock on pcars physics when everything is where it should be.

It actually really is. It's not the trash everyone says it is, but the physics in AC are better. Try drifting in PCars, it's completely screwed. It's not impossible, just extremely difficult and it doesn't work very well. AC has two things going for it, a decent (not really that great) physics model (which everyone swears is the best and can't possibly get any better, or have faults, until the new tire model releases solving most of what everyone was complaining about) and laser scanned tracks. And there's not very many tracks. And they look like crap.
There's not very many cars, unless your interested primarily in GT3, of which I'm not.
Engine optimization sucks, and the game is full of microstutters.
Customization doesn't exist.
Tuning is generally pathetic. As mentioned before, you can change tire pressure and ride height asymmetrically, anything else is a crap shoot of whether it has options or not.
The graphics engine sucks. It only supports 1 light source. i.e. the Sun. That's it. It has a super rudimentary environment lighting system, being the map is surrounded by a large semi-sphere with a gradient on it, which changes color to a different predetermined gradient. (I spent a lot of time working on this)
The clouds are very obviously textures on planes stuck onto the semi-sphere environment, leading to absolutely bizarre clouds, which are very noticeably fake.
Tree textures aren't color matched, so some are really bright green, others are way too dark, and the grass can tend to be a weird almost neon phosphorescent.
Because the game only allows 1 light source, the Sun, the headlights make a dumb post processing glow, but don't light anything up, and as such, night time racing is impossible.
Back to the stupid environment system, it also prevents any kind of weather.
I could probably go on, but the point I think is made. PCars also got me into sim racing, but I quickly found out it actually all kind of sucks. Nothings really progressed since the early 2000's except now there's no actual game.
Which reminds me, AC's networking sucks, which may or may not be improved on console, but it limits me to playing single player, of which if there is a campaign (I've played like 100 hours and don't even know) It doesn't mean anything, and the AI is absolute trash. They defy physics, drive off the road, slam into you, or just drive into walls. This isn't even limited to AC, it's every current sim that's out. AC is basically just find you're favorite car the game offers, and the few tracks you like, and hotlap it. The only thing that kept me invested is mods, which I doubt they'll do on console.

Sorry mate, to answer that is way too tough a question, with my simple answer being: JUST GRAB BOTH. If you're graduating into PC racing from the likes of Gran Turismo, and you're new to wheel ownership I'd say AC. Once you get a taste of AC grab AMS and you'll enjoy it for a few of it's unique subtleties and nuances.
I used to be in to GTR and GTR2, bought RaceRoom but I'm having performance issues (fps lag) which I can't seem to fix. Thanks for the reply bud, your reviews are A+.
yeah, that feel when every car including ones with great balance and super-sharp steering (458/Ruf/F1) drives like a train ( uber-ugly-understeer )
all those duck-tales about "none of us drove it" and real driver X wet his pans by just looking at PCars/etc are useless.
everyone who managed to get to go-karts or had opportunity to drive any car at speed understands how narrow margin for a mistake gets. super stable "racing" cars under its limits is a special case, but all the rest - one should hold tight and really work to keep it on track. without a pants feeling (drive by picture) it must be even more easy to loose it on a flat track. would you be able to browse through up and downs of green hell with cola in one hand like in AC? I really doubt so...
lmao id like to see a vid of you going for a good lap time on ac's nurburgring w a glass of cola in your hand, you cant. Its possible both in real life and in a game to hold a drink and drive in a straight line xD
