Hi, I got this with all DLC recently on sale, but after a lot of consideration and watching a few videos. I wanted the most realistic game with the most cars in it (ultimately with all the DLC) that I could decently play with a controller. I know it's not exactly a purist's kind of thing, but I like to play racing games that I don't have to set up a massive wheel for, although I had known and had plenty of mates that had that set up. I don't knock their playstyles or investment, but I just want to relax more when racing. I'm also not that interested in online racing and don't see that as an essential part of the experience I'm looking for. I missed this review before buying, but would've valued it in probably nudging to buying it also based on this excellent review, and this is despite potentially having the money for a more modern offering, but I don't want the outlay an amount of space required to have a wheel and pedals and so on to play. Thanks for your review, footage and balanced comments.
I think Assetto Corsa is one of the few games where mods/community really shines and shows the true capability of mods. Sure we had Skyrim and such but theyre all gimmicky. Maybe City Skylines as well but AC is crazy!! The community alone is a reason to play this game. From unlicensed car to vans. Maybe even hearse race but i dont know
Its so much better on PC and using content manager with the Custom Shaders patch, and Sol makes this game even better, by a mile. Also recently ran across another program, again for PC that can make the visuals even more better to work with. And of course you mentioned modding. Which kills it . I have played many of the new sim games, including Assetto Corsa Competizione which is now my go to and still play Asaetto Corsa a lot. Iracing is great but the money in that you have to invest is astronomical, in my opinion. Which pushes me away from it. Iracing needs to lower their track and car prices and they would probably get more people to join their game. The membership fees I can kinda understand. But man i put in so much effort fo get out of rookie class, and yea I should have know I would have ro purchase some more content but not as much as I found it to be. I would, and have, rather race assetto corsa and pay for the dlc where the prices are no where near iracings. Sorry had to say all that because its true. And With content with this review. Kind basic in my oponion considering you wers focusing on al platforms. And needed some more comparison. .....
No, It's not a cool racing game. The cars handle like they're on ice, and the graphics are bland af. Go get Forza instead, it's miles better than Assetto Corsa.
Definitely the best on the PS4 console. Top notch physics, and force feedback. Even better on PC! Especially with all the modifications that can be done.
Idk if it's only me, but i hate the force feedback on this game, i cant feel when the rear end is getting lose, whereas on pc2 i can perfectly control the car... i got asseto corsa ultimate edition 24 reais = 8 dollars so i don't regret it...
F1 and open wheel cars are basically unplayable since you can't change the steering ratios: PS4 w/ G29. Youll be practically at full steering lock in game if you turn the g29 at all. UPDATE: I found this to be a bug. If you manipulate any steering settings in game, the steering ratio will break on nearly ever car. It becomes more obvious the tighter the steering ratio. Hence F1/open wheel cars were unplayable. I reset the settings to default. Closed the game application. Started it back up. Did not change any settings. And all cars had normal steering. I went to settings. Changed steering settings. Broke every car in the game. Basically: If you're going to change steering: make the changes. Quit the game. And start it up again. Changing them on the fly, without restarting the app will break the game from my experience.
Mate go for the PC version so much better than a console...The full game only cost me around 40 Aus dollars (all DLC included) The mods inprove the feel and look of the game...Content Manager and Sol also on the pricing way better than bloody Iracing monthly fee and then buying content on top that. So for me AC is the sim everyone should own...
@@alejandroplascencia1315 Not sure if directed at me but i run an Acer Predator G3-710 i7 6700 3.40GHz with 16 gig of ram with only a 1060 nvidia graphics card and my AC runs at around the 70 to 80 FPS...hope that helps
You conveniently ignored the most important thing. On PC 'AC Content Manager' allows you to download thousands of mods for free. GRAPHICS INCLUDED. ANY CARS ANY TRACKS (Including Initial D, California and other notorious locations) ANY SOUND PACKS ANY LIVERIES ANY TUNES ANY MUSIC ANY PHYSICS/GRAPHICS ANY CAMERA MOVEMENT On consoles the game is basically a Demo. Its worth the price of an entire PC. I drive a 97 Prelude which is rare in racing games. Last night I drove it on AC, matched to my real life mods, through LA Canyons. Something impossible in any other racer. That experience within itself was worth $300

Physics and handling are the same between PC and PS4 for all the included game content. Pc does however have mods which are not available on PS4 which will have physics and handling models made by a 3rd party. Hope this helps! :)

Where as on ps4 the sense of speed is not that much immersive. Also the physics handling and ffb are very much different between AC PC version and AC ultimate Edition PS4 version. On PC the cars feel more agile, oversteering and have more downforce, as opposed to AC on ps4 are more rigid and bit understeering and less downforce. Due to which my highest lap time with LA Ferrari on SPA track on PC is 2min.25sec , whereas on Ps4 with same settings( same track, grip, assistance) it is always 2min.30 sec. I am 100% sure there are lots of differences between AC on PC and ps4. What's your opinion? Also did anyone notice the differences

On console, it’s definitely playable, but pales in options compared to PC1 and 2. On PC, base AC isn’t worth your time. You have to mod AC to the point where the original launcher can’t even handle all the options. When modded to high hell on PC, it can easily rival the best of the best of all time. The only limits being what Ilja and Peter Boese can come up with. VR is absolutely a must try for AC. And being able to finally drive in the rain at night going a little slower than the speed of light is such an unrivaled experience. Even if you paid for basically every mod thrown at you, you still wouldn’t even come close to the price iR would charge for barely the base content of AC.
I definitely can't run the game with the original launcher because of all the mods but the solution is to use content manager. Works fine with that. You're right about VR, absolutely awesome.
I only have three mod tracks installed, and I still enjoy playing AC seven years after I purchased it. The main problem for me is the lack of road car races online. I get the feeling that quite a lot of AC users do not realise just how much more interesting it is to drive/race the road cars compared to the boring high downforce modern race cars.

Your review sold me and at a price of $5 and change Canadian on Steam well why not. Funny thing is I always end up enjoying driving games and used to play them til my fingers were almost blistered when I was a kid but hardly touch them now. I think a change in what I play might be in order as gaming is to be fun and not a chore. The last many months I played WOW after being suckered back into it and I think it is time to cancel the sub. There are more fun things to play and things you can actually put down and pick up again without worrying about a schedule for this and that.
Assetto corsa by itself is a great racing sim but in my opinion not super super fun. But it’s the modding potential that really shines because of how many mods are there like tracks and cars the potential is limitless and assetto corsa modding has gone really far
Wrong! Assetto Corsa is NOT the best racing game. It's the WORST racing game. It's graphics aren't good, and the driving mechanics are terrible unless you have a wheel! (i.e. my car won't stop spinning out when I try to steer).

WRONG! Assetto Corsa is the WORST racing sim. The driving mechanics are terrible, and the graphics are so bad it's actually making me sick.
How are the online servers for Xbox holding up? Like on the weekend?
I'm on Ps4 so I'm not sure, however I would assume that they are relatively inactive.

Your review sold me and at a price of $5 and change Canadian on Steam well why not. Funny thing is I always end up enjoying driving games and used to play them til my fingers were almost blistered when I was a kid but hardly touch them now. I think a change in what I play might be in order as gaming is to be fun and not a chore. The last many months I played WOW after being suckered back into it and I think it is time to cancel the sub. There are more fun things to play and things you can actually put down and pick up again without worrying about a schedule for this and that.
Assetto corsa by itself is a great racing sim but in my opinion not super super fun. But it’s the modding potential that really shines because of how many mods are there like tracks and cars the potential is limitless and assetto corsa modding has gone really far
Wrong! Assetto Corsa is NOT the best racing game. It's the WORST racing game. It's graphics aren't good, and the driving mechanics are terrible unless you have a wheel! (i.e. my car won't stop spinning out when I try to steer).

The bad thing about console version is that there are no mods. This makes the PC version way better and more playable.

Were you using a wheel through the video, or just the standard controller. And if you were using a controller, do you know if it works with a wheel?

assetto corsa on pc well what can i say U DONT NEED DLCS there are so many mods i have around 700 cars and 30 maps all free and theres a car for everyones taste
