I hope, that they add climate temp and heat/AC with the app…sometimes in spring/fall the car is hot during the day and cold at night, so you leave the car with AC at 18 degrees, but at night when you want to get back home you‘ll need heat at 22 degrees…
I agree, the phone as key seems less useful if your back up key isnt as small as a credit card...loses the benefit somewhat! Great to see Polestar bringing new features and improvements though!
Turning on the climate remotely is totally crucial for me, I use it every day on my Renault Zoe. Strange that you had to wait so long for that. Looking forward to buy a Polestar 2 in october when the standard range is here. :)
As we were looking into the XC40 P8, our Volvo contact said that the delay of the app is due to issues with preconditioning. Apparently the Google platform has some bugs, which they need to fix first. This being said, if all goes according to plan, you’ll be able to do quite a lot of things with the app. Send destination to the car, sync it with your calendar, remote alerts, set charging times, record a journal, and many more.
Interesting as Volvo On Call app has most of these features already. I see the new facelift XC60 is going Google, I for one wouldn’t be too happy if newer car had less features working than older car!! It’ll be great once sorted👍
Our Club Founder Jim had the OTA update yesterday. All went smoothly and the app pairing was great. Now looking forward to seeing how the develop both the app and the features OTA on the P2
Could you eleboraye on the ESC sports mode? How much fun does it allow when ESC is off? Hopefully it is not speed limited to 50 kmph as in Volvo xc40. Though, in the xc40 up to the speed limit the offroad mode truly switches off ESC with basically no interventions as far as i have observed.
In the polestar app on your phone you find the instruction video showing step by step how the set up the new features.. I installed using the instructions without any problems...
What was the point of the video if you weren't going to follow the instructions which were provided in the email about the update and are on support website and App?
Hi. Quick question. I’m aware the app has not got this functionality yet but can you set the preconditioning temperature of the car in scheduling? Always says 22 deg C. Thx. Great videos btw. Your content convinced to buy on line without test driving (lockdown!!) and I’m glad I did back in Jan to make the savings. Got the car last week. Love it. So Thank you for making these videos 😀
Well yes it could have been a more intuitive process to begin with. I followed their instruction video to the letter and had no issues what so ever. What was weird was that the app stopped working when my wife had used the car. Seems the last profile remains active even if the car is at sleep and locked. So you have to add your polestar id to all profiles in the car for the app to work just in case a profile was used last not being the main/admin profile. For all the profiles you will then have to accept and check the marks for the data sharing etc. Took a good 24 hours, of processing of some sorts, for the functionality in the app to come to live(some server synchronisation according to Polestar)
Hi Leo, I have not yet had the download but was wondering about whether my wife would be able to download the app so that we both have the same level of functionality. Is that now the case for you and your wife?
I got about 25% through my download and a message came up saying the upgrade had been recalled by polestar and will be made available again from sometime next week. Just me? All i want is to be able to set the climate going to cool or warm the car before i get in it in the morning. Im not bothered by the key functions. I didnt have to scrape off the windscreen once when i had a tesla. Also checking the battery charge is useful at times.
Hi I have my test drive this saturday. Does the app allow scheduled charging? Would you recommend the Polestar having owned it for some time now. I th8nk i will bye on lease 3 yrs as technology is changing so quicly. Apprecite your thoughts.Mark
When I try to activate the Digital Key I do not get answer about connecting bluetooth like what happens in the video. All previous steps before activating has been done and the app can control the car. But no digital key. I have an iPhone Xs so it should work.
Hi, been following your videos with great interest. Regarding range and charging speed (or lack of it), do you know if PS2 is using the LFP batteries that has given Tesla 3 SR from China (and sold in Germany) so many problems with charging speed and range under cold weather conditions or is it the “normal” batteri type ? Best regards!
I’ve been having tons of issues with the Polestar app since I took delivery 3 weeks ago. My app spontaneously forgets it was paired with a car but the car itself says its paired with the phone. This essentially removes all remote functions via the app as well as makes the digital key unusable. Any ideas how to stop this from happening? The only solution has been to factory reset the car and delete/reinstall the app which I’ve done 2 other times already. Help!
Well, it is Beta software. 😂 What’s the point of the plus icon just below the batter %age? Why didn’t they just show the distance all the time. Got to love software developers who don’t actually think about what they’ve added. It also feels very basic especially after the amount of time it’s taken to get an app.
I suspect it’s all going to improve eventually. I agree a beta version after such a long wait is disappointing! Scheduling is crucial. Again it might be better for the 2022 model year which is now configurable in their website.
Polestar 2 is a beautiful car, fast, well built, safe and it looks like a car (and not a SUV). But it’s not an efficient car. Real life range is really low. Doing 150km/h at the autobahn with a full charge you will not get more than 190/200 km range. If you go 200 km/h, you’ll get 150 kms. It’s a really low value. This is the area car manufacturers have to improve fast.
the same goes for a ICE car, my volvo consumes about 2x when i drive 140 km/h compared to 90 km/h (and i'm driving a sedan). how would they fix that except building a big vacuum tunnel?
@@tegelsten1 First of all, I have a Volvo V60 T6 (310 hp). It’s not an efficient car but, when I drive it at 150 km/h, I can easily do, at least, 450 kms before I have to fill it up again. At 200 km/h, I can do 375 km/h, before I have to fill it up again. If polestar would give me this values at those speeds, I would buy it immediately. But it doesn’t. Also, once I have to stop an fill it up, it takes me 10 minutes…. With polestar 2, it would take 2 hours. So, yes, EV’s have lot of ground to run before been able to became useful for long trips. On a day to day basis, they are ok.
@@rogeriogomesosorio4755 the drag follows the same math no matter what car or engine type you use. the resistance in air Quadruples for every increase in speed, so it's not surprising it wouldn't get the advertised range at that kind of speed. (the same is for an ICE car for that matter) Fd = 1/2 Cp A^2 Volvo v60 has C = 0,29 what you "can get" might not be that good of a fact as u might be driving with tailwind or downhill or exaggerating ur "data" :D And for the charging (a new topic now...), i agree that charging needs to be faster, but most people don't need that "top up" that takes you 10 min because they charge whenever they are parked (at home or at work) only for the long trips it would be good, but most people doesn't do that kind of trips that often. but lowering the speed gets you a much better range no matter what car you drive. Driving slower might save time in the long run when it comes to EV, and money when it comes to ICE cars
You are correct about the range. If you regularly do long trips of over 300 miles then for some the added charging time could be a problem. For me it's no big deal. I've done a few longer trips and yes charging added some time however I did this while eating or using the toilets so stopping for 30-45 min was no big deal at all. In a few years time I'm sure range will be better and charging will be faster so this will be less of an issue.
@short circuit , I am trying to watch your videos and it’s just a shame. your videos about polestar are depressing! You are always so negative always complaining, nothing is good for you. You always find what is not good about this car. My suggestion to you is to sell the car and buy something else. Then you can close this Channel.
Not true at all. You clearly didn't watch many of my vidoes at all. I love this car but I'm also honest. When things don't work I simply state the truth.

Had the same issue.. you need to connect your polestar ID to your account... then you can turn on data share... you need to exactly follow the instructions in the video th-cam.com/video/WW1Jfc5jvF8/w-d-xo.html At 0.34 sec they show you how to add an account... this needs to be the same in the car and on the phone.. Go into the accounts page, and add your Polestar account to the car. Once that is done, the privacy settings will no longer be greyed out.
Step by Step guide here Bradley.
