I had lazer treatment around my mouth and chin area for some deep scarring and the lines around my lips. In one week, the skin sloughed off rather deeply and eventually resulted in new very smooth skin and no lip lines. That was in 2016, and here I am in 2024. I have very carefully protected this area with creamy non-soap cleanser and slathering of Aquaphor every night. I use moisturizer and foundation with sunscreen. I also never do anything that requires me to purse my lips, I.e., whistling, drinking out of a straw, etc. also, I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. At 76 now, I have no visible lines around my lips and the old scars are still completely nonexistent. I would definitely do it all over again.
An ND-Yag laser can do this very nicely and without any downtime, although several treatments are needed. Cost is practitioner determined, but for just this small area it shouldn't be much. Better to do your entire face, perhaps ask that the lips be treated twice during each session, for example before and again after the rest of the face. Consult RealSelf to get an idea of the charges by various practitioners.
Awesome video! I developed lip lines after a lip lift because the Dr. removed filler that was in my lip. Been depressed because I make a living with my face. You’ve given me hope,
I’m a senior and have used organic pomegranate oil for lip lines. It totally removed them for me. I use one by Levan Rose. Pomegranate oil contains punicic acid a fatty acid unique to it. You can read more about it in the book Power of the Seed. The cost is minimal.
The girl that does my injections and I’m getting the ones for my lips in January she said all these girls that are drinking. Their Stanley cups are going to regret it in a few years.!!
Thank you very much. I am surprised you did not discuss chemical peel a bit more in-depth. After trying everything with no great success over the years, my deep lip lines completely disappeared after a chemical peel done by a plastic surgeon. Combined with some of the preventative strategies you suggested, I do a lighter TCA peel at home every few months which has maintained the improvement beautifully. Thanks again for advice!
@@ThisIsEmilyKate Hi there, I got a 30% TCA peel on my whole face when I had a Deep Plane Facelift. I now just do 13-15% TCA around my mouth about every 6 weeks or so. I use a numbing cream (tho not that necessary at such low concentrations) and its all pretty easy and maintains the results as well as thickening up the skin it seems.
Hi ..you say you do a peel just round your mouth ..does that not effect the rest of the skin on your face becoming slightly darker . I was told you should always do the whole face so the skin layers stay the same ..ty for sharing
I am amazed at how great the “City Lips” lip products are. I am old and found putting on lip stick made me look like the Joker. I tried both the lip gloss and night repair and my lips got their shape back and hold my lip stick and liners.
I've found a mouth guard helps greatly. It prevents me from pursuing causing deeper lines, and lessening the present ones. I massage them several times a week. Facial excersizes helps. 👄
Yey for the mention of Differin for anti-aging! I switched from tretinoin to Differin when it went over the counter (in 2017, I think). It’s my preferred retinoid.
Is there any study that proves adapalene is good for wrinkles? As far as I know it has the potential to because it’s vitamin A derivative like retinoids and tretinoin but it’s not the same. Just like tretinoin isn’t the same for wrinkles as retinol. Adapalene studies only show success for acne, not wrinkles.
I got some filler in my upper vertical lip lines. Although the lines are slightly smoother, it seems that the extra fullness have caused my upper lips to lower and look considerably thinner. I think that Microneedling has made a big difference in reducing the appearance of fine lines in my entire face.
Haven't you heard of the healthier and permanent idea of fat transfer to fill that area? You can take fat from the ab area or the legs/ inner thighs and transfer there - into the lips as well as the lip lines. This is long lasting and Dr Karem says it's permanent so we don't need to do it again. Your body's anatomy is unique to you though so you must get seen by a dr to let you know if you are a candidate for that procedure. Also - the Dr will naturally not recommend this b/c it's not profit-friendly and some dr's don't study this or specialize in it b/c they love the temp fillers that keep making money. And - if you have no fat in tummy or legs, that can be an issue too b/c you need a place plump enough to harvest fat from. It's your fat and blood supply so it won't infect you or cause issues like reg filler too.
I’m so glad to see this video! I’m 63 and the lip lines around my mouth really bother me! I’m not wanting to do a lot of cosmetic surgery or procedures but this video is very helpful! A esthetician told me that filler in the marionette lines helps the look of the lip lines. I also have very droopy hooded eyes. Could you do a video for that also?
I am 60, and on both sides of my family, men included, had to have eye lid surgery by my age for droopy lids. I started Botox for a brow lift, and it works! For lip lines, I had my lips filled but very important to go to an experienced injector who is a doctor. My lips look very natural and I am thrilled I did it.
I have been doing fillers for my lines, however, it doesn’t last more than 4 months. My dermatologist will not refill for 6 months!! Totally lipless and linefull for two months. Is there a reason why i cant get more often? Also, to all complainers...quit criticizing this beautiful woman!! If you don’t like something, just stop watching. Stay in your lane. You ruin it for everyone. I don’t want to read about your complaints. Try to be more respectful, she is giving us great information for free.
I of course don’t know which filler you are using but I would suggest using a filler with larger molecules. Definitely should last longer than 4 mos. I also get fillers in lips and several other places.
Hygienist here!!! Yes take care of your teeth! People have no idea how much they frame your mouth muscles! I’m also an esthetician so I love this video ❤
Every morning and night, I take a small file and put it between my lips, then I focus on lifting the end up towards the sky. I do it at least 60 reps. This simple movement works those cheek muscles and helps smooth the small wrinkles. You'll know it's working, you can feel it! I learned it from an Indian Dr on utube but I don't remember his name!
@@emmadedic4483 , I just use A small metal nail file. You can usually a spoon but I found that a little heavy. The point is to hold it pursed between your lips and when you lift the end up you will feel your cheeks lift.
These are definitely first world problems! I’m all for taking good care of your skin and have had micro needling. Being a female these days is exhausting.
I did 3 treatments of Morpheus 8, going from hardly any pain to severe on the 3rd treatment. No change at all. I'm a 63 y/o smoker and they're bad. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for being honest about Morpheus 8 - my botox place sold me one face treatment (expensive...like $500) 3 yrs ago and saw zero difference, has been trying to get me to do it ever since and it won't happen, it's heat, very painful and I feel I lost volume!! Loss of volume means more loose skin!! Total rip off. Scheduling a laser next month or peel, that's what I hear SOOO many gals saying got the results. Mild tightening and lip lines gone!
I am 68 no Botox, zero surgeries. I want to know products to remove age spots. On the right side of my face I have a ton of them. I do have a few wrinkles on upper lip, my whole jaw are is wrinkled, I have eye bags. My neck is totally acceptable no issues. Fine wrinkles on my forehead. I do super super tiny milia around my left eye. I do use Paula's choice but not on a regular basis. You are on amazing. I will follow you on a more frequent basis! I eat clean....gluten free and feel fantastic.
@@hummingbirdess8763 I agree that Niacinamide is an incredible product for wrinkle, discoloration and acne reduction. Unfortunately the best product, NIA 24, has gone off the market. If you have significant discoloration, a somewhat extreme but highly effective treatment that also wards off early skin cancers is photodynamic therapy with alpha Levulinic Acid and IPL or blue light. Perhaps Dr. Ellis will comment or do a video on this.
Got the Invisalign braces 4 years ago at age 69. I still wear a retainer at night. So, yes, my teeth look better, but my lip lines really got more pronounced. Before getting braces I only had one line on my upper lip. I don't smoke and only use a straw when having a drink at a restaurant, and have worn sunscreen on my face daily for over 20 years. Maybe just being almost 73 is the culprit.
@victoriamorosky8654 ~ Interestingly, I am thinking of getting Invisalign braces too; my teeth are shifting - 🫡 - coupled with lines above my mouth + I feel like my face is falling from the nose down! I have become a bit "obsessed" (maybe that's too dramatic?!?), but a friend I have been seeing more often lately - has said "Stop talking about your aging mouth and face!" 😂 - She had a chemical peel about ten years ago & I'm not sure what else she's had done, but her skin - especially the lip lines are gone AND she is five years older than me ...😉
I take Vital Proteins powder every day. Easily dissolved in my morning coffee. I started taking it for my joints and have seen an improvement in my skin and especially the fine lined around my mouth and eyes.
Shortening the upper lip, which has become a popular surgery, not only leaves a visible scar under the nose, it makes the nose look longer-most especially when you smile!
My lip lines have almost decreased by using very hydrating products, skincare over my lips and use sunscreen over my lips. I sometimes use a sleep mask balm on my lips if I staying in the house for the day. But the biggest help was definitely sunscreen.
Great and informative video, thanks. I use a very economic hyaluronic lip product, Hyalogic, at bedtime. KEY ADVICE: before applying, use your nail to scrape just the outer edges of the lip, which creates little micro holes through which the hyaluronic acid can pass (it doesn't get through the skin normally without a needle). Also, it doesn't hurt to tape your mouth closed (with lips together, in position as if you are spreading lipstick) with paper tape, which means more of the product is absorbed and less is evaporated. Also taping can relieve certain types of snoring, and increases the concentration of nitric oxide your tongue microorganisms are making overnight, which increases circulation to the lip area.
I am over 70. I have had 2 Ellacore micro coring treatments. One of the most notable changes is around my mouth. My lips look fuller and I only have a few very soft lines about 1/8th inch around my top lip. I am one month out from my second treatment. Ellacore is not a facelift. The results are suttle. I am happy with my results and will have another Ellacore next year. I enjoy your channel ❤. Thanks
@@DallasNatureLover. I am in the Dallas area. For the face and neck each treatment is $2500. If you do not have sagging or wrinkled skin, I would not recommend Ellacore. I have seen Ellacore done on younger women who have nothing to tighten, so there's very little improvement. Ellacore is not painful. It takes me about 3 weeks for all redness to disappear. I hope that is helpful.
Thank you, it's so interesting to hear about Ellacor since it's so new and we have so little info so far. Glad that you had a positive experience with it. 🙂
Great video addressing my only issue that frustrates me. I’ve used retinols and Botox for years so I have no lines around my eyes and only slight on my forehead.. but my lower lip has the lines on the outer 1/4… and 2 on the top. I can only use longwear liquid lipstick because regular things travel into lines no matter what I do. I tried a TINY bit of Botox around my lips but I found it incredibly annoying..I could hardly pronounce some words and not being able to fully get my lips onto a cup edge made for some crazy experiences trying to drink! I would never do that again!😂 You mentioned oral collagen.. I was hoping there would be a link to that… I’ll search more. I started taking that a year ago and I love how I feel. My hair and nails are so much better now and I enjoy doing little things to help! Thanks for the info.. at least I know I’m not alone in feeling cranky about lip lines..and I feel it is an honor to be aging. I don’t know what I expected getting older to be…but I’m happy to keep trying to be better. I’m 76.
@@lindamcandrew1229 Interesting to hear from women around my age. I am 73 young looking not many wrinkles, etc. Except for vertical lines above my top lip I am OK. Asked my dermatologist about it and he said when I talk I pucker and other than Botox there is little to be done. I do not have the money for Botox and it has to be repeated. I do like Olay products..I will have to start looking for somehing to help my lip area.
@@dnsgilbert09 yes! Thanks for that reminder. When you know, you know! That works great for keeping skin looking smooth. For years I never wear ‘regular’ lipstick..only the liquid longwear, which never bleeds-so that problem is solved. The makeup channel “Makeup by Spencer” uses this tip for his “mature” clients-line your lips with a matte liquid lipstick. Then fill in with whatever other you want. I just fill in with a no budge sheen longwear liquid. Stays on all day. Life is better the less fussy stuff to do, I feel. I’m just patching to perfection 🙄😂
I quit using a straw years ago when I heard it was as bad as smoking. But because I drank from a straw all day for years, my lip lines are as bad as smokers. Heed her warning! :)
Hi Dr. Ellis, I thoroughly enjoyed watching you explain what women of my age deal with, facial wrinkles, with hopes of learning how to address those in a conservative manner. I totally agree with you about not to have to chase every single wrinkle or line in any part of the face. My goal is to look better consistent with my age, okay perhaps a bit younger if possible, and not to dramatically look like I’m another person. Thank you for all the education. I also love that you actually give your viewers a picture of products you recommend or use. I have one question, what should be the approach to lines due to lack of volume on the face running down from both sides of the cheeks next to the nose. Will fillers really take of that? And on a scale of 1-10, can you give me an idea of the degree of pain from fillers. Thank you and look forward to your reply. I’m 70 years old btw.
Do some research on sculptra. Both procedures filler & sculptra use needles, but they prepare the face with numbing cream. The pain experienced for both is completely manageable.
You can still drink from a straw, you just have to train yourself to just close your lips and keep them straight/flat. Takes a little time to change the habit, but it can be done. So keep your Stanley! 😄
Yes. I use a straw every day (ice tea dependent:) and practiced how to not affect lines. Ps. City Lips has really worked for me. I always have them around & they have 2 for 1 often.
@@lisastensgard1890Most vacuum insulated bottles and cups contain lead. Therefore better to buy from a reputable brand like Stanley where you are unlikely to ever come into contact with it. "Jack Caravanos, a professor of public health at New York University who studies the effects of lead exposure, tested three of the cups himself and came up with no lead. He even said he tried to pry the cup open to test the inside, and failed. "There appears to be lead, according to the report," Caravanos told the BBC, "but I had trouble detecting it and wasn’t able to detect it using state-of-the-art equipment." He says this is probably because the lead was "too deep inside the unit", meaning it would be very tough to be exposed to it or ingest it. "
Never smoked, don't use straws, never done "duck face" photos 😂 but I have awful liplines. I went thru menopause in my 30s and wasn't given estrogen. My skin is really wrinkled. I got very depressed.
I have very sensitive skin and eyes. I don’t use retinol based products because they are much to irritating for me. I’ve recently introduced peptides into my skin care and I’m noticing improvement in the lines above my lips as well as everywhere else.
@patriciabracy6637 - Yes; would you be open to sharing in what form you have introduced peptides into your skincare routine (topically re creams or serums?) or injesting (as in a powder or supplement?) - thank you in advance ... ❤️🩹
I get EZgel injections (PRF made from my own blood) and it really has made a difference in reducing my vertical lip lines. I also take Elysium’s Mosaic supplement which is targeted to improve my skin overall.
I have had 2 sessions of EZgel in my face, but my doc never put them above my lip and I have serious lip lines. I didn't think you could put it there and she never said it could be injected there. Now, I'm going to ask her! I want that! Especially if you say it has made a big difference. Thanks !
@@ginar51 my NP charged me $1200 for the EZ gel. That included the blood draw, spinning of the blood and injecting the areas of my face that I have concerns with. I basically had my whole face done with the blood that they drew that day. I have really been happy with the results. They recommend having it done every 6 months, but it’s an expensive procedure and I’ve had 2 (spaced 6 months apart). I think I’ll wait a year and see if I need another treatment. So far, so good!! I also like that it’s my own blood and is collagen producing!
@ReginEvans did you ever consider hitting the settings icon at the top of the screen to slower speed? I get impatient because the pace of many channels is too slow. My choice is to increase setting to get to the point more quickly. It a handy tool.
I have them & I once got filler in them and it was awful so now I get lip filler because it helps disguise them. I also apply a really good lotion & serum. I just turned 46 & I’ve never smoked.
What are your thoughts on applying estrogen cream on the face skin? Years ago I read about a study that was done on applying estrogeen cream on the skin of the face. Recently, I saw a video online done by a doctor that discussed using estrogen cream on the face. Many people who were already using estrogen cream on their face wrote comments on that video.
Dr Ellis I’ve watched so many of your videos, you are well educated and we appreciate that. You mentioned being concerned of your peri orbital area, might I suggest try speaking slower, your speech is very clear but you do talk very fast. But I will continue to follow you because I feel you are trustworthy. Btw I previously added in a comment I found it difficult to rinse my face after using prequel gleanser. I recently found a very soft almost fluffy cloth to rinse and it has helped so much. Have a question about the urea moisturizer, is it a true facial moisturizer that functions before foundation??

your knowledge is so valuable. I've just recently noticed that I have lip lines (just turned 57) and I don't smoke so must be from the straws. i'm going to take many of your tips and let you know how it goes.

hi @debbiecoppola3342 this is just been my experience. if you have a prescribed retinoid by a medical provider (legitimate) then they will instruct you verbally and on the label of the prescription. If you are going for one of the over the counter (otc) "retinoids" then go by what is recommended on the product label. The otc retinoids come in various strengths and you want to be sure you start with the milder option because it MAY cause irritation etc especially on this sensitive area (lip/upper lip area). i personally consider this area a mucous membrane area which is much more delicate than regular skin areas. Hope this helps you
@@lauradecell1991 it took about two months for my bottom lip to get its nice fullness back. My top lip took several months (5?) to fill out. It's like watching paint dry BUT the results are great. It gave me back my younger, fuller lips. I would suggest taking pictures every month or you may not be able to tell a difference.
Got hit in the mouth by a wooden gate when I was five years old. The stitches resulted in a permanent “lip line”. About seven years ago, when I started getting botox, the plastic surgeon suggested a little filler in the scar. Wow. Really worked to lessen the depression. Not sure if that could also work in a wrinkle, but it did work in the case of my scar.
I was bitten in the face by a little dog with tiny teeth and sliced vertical lines into my upper lip. I had 13 stitches, less than 10 yrs ago. I didn't have any lines before that.😢
I have deep lip lines and have never smoked or even use a straw but my 2nd two teeth stick out over the first ones and it’s right in-line where the two deep wrinkle lines are and I only realised this a few months back ..so I’m glad you mentioned about your teeth supporting you lips because I didn’t want to look stupid asking my dentist if that’s why I had lip lines .
@debbieharber6550 - Interesting observation; I too have noticed my teeth moving & more lip lines + my face changing from my nose down (🫡)! I think it's kind of like home remodeling - you fix one thing & then something else looks drab or old --- 😅 Also, depending on your dentist's age - he or she may not fully factor that in, but surely worthwhile to inquire - ❤️🩹
@@lynnharris6877 I don't remember exactly. It was made at least 12 years ago. I have to check for the receipt in my file to check. It is still amazing (only one wrinkle since then is reappearing). I am very glad of the results! :)

I had a CO 2 laser treatment done in October and sadly, I'm very disappointed. There has been no change in my lip lines and that was the main reason I had it done.
Hello Ladies ~ Urgh, how disappointing that you three tried the CO 2 laser treatments with no improvements; especially to the area you were most concerned about re the lip lines! Was the cosmetic dermatologist or doctor - clear about what you should and should not expect; do you feel like you were misled about the benefits of those CO 2 laser treatments?!? ❤️🩹
I don’t think there’s a single “best” filler. It has so much to do with the patient’s unique anatomy. I know this can be a frustrating answer but cosmetic dermatology can be quite nuanced!
Hello you mentioned a lip mask by Dr. Gross. I read the description and reviews for this product. Is this mask for plumping lips or helping reduce fine lines around lips especially smokers lines on upper lip?
I over produce Collagen, which has made my face wrrinkeled, especially around my mouth, and the chin area. It's caused by an autoimmune disease. My skin looked like yours when I was your age, I would like to see a woman in her 60's before and after treatments.
Me too! It’s hard to look so much older than we are. I’m quite self conscious about this but when considering treatment I’m very hesitant because of the autoimmune factor. When looking for beauty products I often have to search for folks in their 70’s. Wishing you the best in your journey.
@Jeriann-027 --- Pardon my sounding obtuse, but how does over producing Collagen age someone more? I thought most people are taking or thinking of adding Collagen to their routines? I guess I'm confused? Thank you in advance ~ ❤️🩹 P.S. Also, how do you know or test for an over production of Collagen? 😊
Love your advice! I really started working on skin care a little over 2 years ago with a "do it or lose it" idea about what I saw going on with my face and the rest. I will appllyl your advise. I am concerned some of the facial yoga I have beeen doing could also be contributing to lip lines so I'll be checking that over. Thank you!
I don’t smoke, I don’t sip from tiny apertures, my teeth are fine, i eat loads of collagen….my lip wrinkles are appalling! They are exactly the same as my mothers….do ya think genetics and age might be the cause?
I do ….my mother didn’t drink smoke etc and hers were really bad ,,,,mine are getting there and my sister had them too 🤩…the idea that it’s smoking and nonsense about drinking through straws ……no it’s genetic .
@mariaGentle --- OMG - YES! When I was a teenager I noticed my Mother had those lines above her lips - she did not smoke and was fair skinned & didn't lay out and tan. With that, I started using moisturizers - especially above my lips as a young teenager, stopped seriously laying in the sun about "100 years ago" (😭) around 18 years of age - and - smoked just socially (very infrequently) in my 20s; however, I have been a straw user 🙃 - but the lines above my lips have driven me crazy abd are only getting worse! Now my top lip on the right hand side seems to be turning under ---- I need to make some well informed & smart decisions about what to do; as I'm becoming "obsessed" in a vain way that I don't like - a friend of 38 years called me out recently (as I've seen her more in the past 6-8 weeks than I had in a year!) - anyway, she finally said "Quit talking about and obsessing over your lip wrinkles and lower face aging!" 😭
One of the very major downsides to using ablative type lasers on the upper lip that you totally neglected to mention, is that afterwards the color of the skin on the upper lip is completely different than the color of the skin on the rest of the face and it looks very bizarre. You end up having to wear foundation all the time to avoid that weird white mustache look.
Hi! It’s mentioned at the 17-minute mark! Regardless, this video is intended to provide a general overview and is not intended to be a comprehensive breakdown of each intervention. I also find that this stark hypopigmentation is usually a result of fully ablative laser resurfacing (rather than fractionated ablative resurfacing), which is rarely performed these days because of the exact risk you mention!
I had CO2 laser 2 yrs ago from a plastic surgeon $5,500 Not worth it my skin looked beautiful for a yr but my upper lip is still discolored to this day. Very disappointed especially for the cost!!
Yesterday I had lip filler done. The doctor asked me if I am a smoker? I was shocked because I've never been. If I am honest, I didn't see wrinkles above my lips.
Don’t pay any attention to that. They’re trying to upsell you with more procedures. One doctor said, and we don’t have the technology to take care of your neck wrinkles. My husband was there and said to the doctor “what wrinkles”? Needless to say I didn’t use him. I know where my wrinkles are, and the neck isn’t one of them.
I believe the best treatment for lip lines that have helped me at 56 is the following: no chemicals on my skin, morning sunshine, our skin requires sunshine (early morning and evening, moisturizing with Rose Glow Serum (Living Libations), and then applying a high-grade Castor oil on my face and massaging around lip lines. Castor oil is natural botox as it is anti-inflammatory and hydrating. The most important thing- what you eat defines how fast you age and the quality of your skin. Eat 80% fruits and vegetables, it is the easiest way to improve your overall health without gimmicks, chemicals, and spending money on "hacks" and harmful trends.
I have never used a serum and never heard of Rose Glow Serum (Living Libations). Just checked online and rave reviews! I'm expecting an order of Castor Oil to try for the first time as it is apparently amazing for so many things! As a yet to ever have tried serums, does the Rose Glow specifically help with lip lines/ wrinkles? Thank you!
Informative video. I don't vape, but it seems this is becoming more popular, so I would consider adding "no vaping" to the no smoking part of tip 1. Yes, it's logical, yet I've heard people claim vaping doesn't give them smokers lines around the mouth. smh The photo inserted at @17:33 is exactly why I will never do plastic surgery. This woman's nose and mouth looked so much more natural, youthful, and beautiful *before* she had the lip lift performed. The after photo shows her nose looking broader, almost like she's intentionally flaring her nostrils, and her upper lip looks so unnaturally flat, and it's weirdly almost the same size as her lower lip and it looks awful to my eyes. My heart breaks for this woman who probably spent many thousands of dollars for that upper lip lift only to look unnatural, and weird, and her surgeon probably told her her lips look "more balanced" when they were so much more naturally beautiful before the surgery. smh I hope that maybe in a decade or two that upper lip will eventually look more natural as the elasticity in her skin wanes over time. Thank goodness she does have nice, uniform, white teeth. You also cannot see scars around her nose, though, so the surgeon did do an amazing job hiding any sign of incisions around her nostrils and her skin doesn't seem to scar badly, so that's actually amazing. I commend the plastic surgeon for hiding those incisions so artfully (she has no makeup on, so nowhere to hide if those incisions had been visible). I've considered a CO2 laser, but the recovery looks pretty awful...
I'm 61 and deal with these...I've had a laser procedure done which helped a great deal. I also use tretinoin and sunscreen. I recently purchased the OmniLux mask but noticed that around the mouth there are no lights. So, I just got the Dr. Dennis Gross Lip mask...have only had it for about a week so, will be curious to see what kind of results I get from it. You use it everyday for 3 minutes.
Checking back in after having used this for about 2 months. I do see an improvement in the following; - the lines on my lips are smoother - the color of my lips seems to be improving...my lips were very pale, they were not pink like when I was younger...that seems to be improving. They have more color now. - the lines above my lips are looking softer...I got this device to address these. I think this cost about $125 if I remember correctly...thus far it seems to be worth the price. It is simple to use...so, I will continue to use it. Hope this helps!

@bev-bt9lb - Me too! My approach is usually the less invasive or hugely expensive, however, then you hear plastic surgeons saying "face yoga does nothing to tighten the face" - or - "It can stretch out one's face!" - same is true for the Caster Oil craze - at first I liked it, but then I noticed two underground bumps (like pimples) around my chin - jawline - which I didn't have before I began using the Caster Oil?!? I realized that I was clenching my teeth while sleeping which caused migraines. This also had a bad impact on the area around my lips. I have incorporated relaxation in my face and jaw.

Can you please tell me if castor oil can be used on the skin around breast and the chest to help saggy skin from having a baby. I’m new to your channel The Budget Dermatologist recommended you to me when I asked her this question. Thank you God Bless
I do know that if you massage your breaststroke daily they will improve. Any good basic oil will do, castor oil is very thick & sticky, hard to work with.
What happened to the Oprah episode where the lady had smokers lines and they took blood from the behind her ear did something with it and injected it in her lines. It was like magic. A bunch of the disappeared. I have looked for that episode and can’t find it anywhere.
I saw there’s a straw the is swirled but at the top it’s flat to help with premature lip lines. Would that be maybe an alternative for those who have the Stanley’s and thermos?
Don't smoke cigarettes and other things! I'm 25 and there are deep lines in my upper and lower lip. If i stop now maybe i can prevent it from spreading to my face

Could you tell me which laser treatment you had and the cost? Thank you! 🙏
Would love to know which laser also. That's great you got the result you wanted.
Can you share which laser did u got ?
An ND-Yag laser can do this very nicely and without any downtime, although several treatments are needed.
Cost is practitioner determined, but for just this small area it shouldn't be much. Better to do your entire face, perhaps ask that the lips be treated twice during each session, for example before and again after the rest of the face. Consult RealSelf to get an idea of the charges by various practitioners.

Which peel did you get from the surgeon please
@@ThisIsEmilyKate Hi there, I got a 30% TCA peel on my whole face when I had a Deep Plane Facelift. I now just do 13-15% TCA around my mouth about every 6 weeks or so. I am amazed at how great the “City Lips” lip products are. I am old and found putting on lip stick made me look like the Joker. I tried both the lip gloss and night repair and my lips got their shape back and hold my lip stick and liners.
What city beauty products do u use?
Very interesting, bc they always have young models with pretty lips I’m 70, so maybe I’ll give it a try!
I tried it and it's just like lumpy Vaseline and didn't do anything to change my lip lines or anything
Didn’t do anything for me either
City Lips gloss stings and makes my lips red and puffy, definitely not great for everyone. Lucky it works for you!
Which one?
@@evas1968 The name brand is 'Differin.' Just search for it under that name.
I believe she meant Differin.
Differin is advertised for acne but works well on wrinkles as well as lip lines. Go slow it can be irritating.
I want to try that!
I was wondering how often and the size of the microneedle you use? Thank you 🩷
Im on my 8 session on micro needling and really I'm not that happy on my lip lines they might of faded a little but really I expected more.
I use obagi tretinoin and blender together ever other day

The aquaphor lip balm has SPF 30 and also doesn’t taste like sunscreen, but it’s more cost effective than the o’keeffe’s!

No to Stanley's! They are filled with lead.

How frequently should you apply a retinol cream?
hi @debbiecoppola3342 this is just been my experience. if you have a prescribed retinoid by a medical provider (legitimate) then they will instruct you verbally and on the label of the prescription.

@@ClaraSunshine Hello from Southern California ~ Thanks for your reply! Oh, okay - so interesting that you had such fabulous results with a special injection made by your plastic surgeon + one that's lasted so long - which is really remarkable; happy for you! Thanks again for taking the time to respond ... 🥰
At some point, would love to hear your opinion on Micro-coring for lower face sagging.
As always, great advice. Thank you
I had a CO 2 laser treatment done in October and sadly, I'm very disappointed. There has been no change in my lip lines and that was the main reason I had it done.
I had the same procedure done twice and I had the same result. There was absolutely no change around my mouth. Sigh.
Agree I too had CO2 laser done by a plastic surgeon 5500. Very costly, no difference in my lip lines.
What’s the best filler for the lips especially the upper lip??
I don’t think there’s a single “best” filler. It has so much to do with the patient’s unique anatomy. I know this can be a frustrating answer but cosmetic dermatology can be quite nuanced!
Hello you mentioned a lip mask by Dr. Gross. I read the description and reviews for this product. Is this mask for plumping lips or helping reduce fine lines around lips especially smokers lines on upper lip?
Love your lip color! What did you use?🤗
And blush too! Love the new colors! Please share!
Yes!!! scrolling through the comments just to see if this was mentioned. Love the color of the lips!
Yes, I am new to Dr. Ellis's TH-cam channel, and, was transfixed at her overall beauty, amazing skin, teeth & lips - 🤩
The red light mask aggravated my broken capillaries. I had to stop. I would actually have them appear after using the mask.
Hi Doc, great video! Are those rollers with the tiny needles (0.5, etc) worth getting to roll the upper lip? J x
Pinched mouth and frown seems to accentuate lines. Smiling seems to smooth the look
Love and appreciate this info, Dr. Ellis! Thank you!
Keep the education coming!❤
Thank you in advance ~ ❤️🩹
This happened to me. I had erbium laser 17 years ago, over time I developed hypopigmentation on the upper lip area.
I had CO2 laser 2 yrs ago from a plastic surgeon $5,500 Not worth it my skin looked beautiful for a yr but my upper lip is still discolored to this day. Very disappointed especially for the cost!!
Thanks for the tip about O’Keeffe’s
Wat was de tip dan?
Yesterday I had lip filler done. The doctor asked me if I am a smoker? I was shocked because I've never been. If I am honest, I didn't see wrinkles above my lips.
Don’t pay any attention to that. They’re trying to upsell you with more procedures.
One doctor said, and we don’t have the technology to take care of your neck wrinkles.
My husband was there and said to the doctor “what wrinkles”?
Needless to say I didn’t use him.
I know where my wrinkles are, and the neck isn’t one of them.
is red light LED safe if you had any actinic keratosis or skin cancers
Yes, it's logical, yet I've heard people claim vaping doesn't give them smokers lines around the mouth. smh
The photo inserted at @17:33 is exactly why I will never do plastic surgery.
I personally think her lip lift results are GREAT😊
Yeah I would be freaked out if that much of my teeth were suddenly showing & agree her nose got wider
are you recommending gentle retinols around or on the lips?
I'm 61 and deal with these...I've had a laser procedure done which helped a great deal. I also use tretinoin and sunscreen. I recently purchased the OmniLux mask but noticed that around the mouth there are no lights. So, I just got the Dr. Dennis Gross Lip mask...have only had it for about a week so, will be curious to see what kind of results I get from it. You use it everyday for 3 minutes.
Please update us!
Very interested to hear about your results. I am contemplating whether to buy the device for lip lines above and below lip area.
@@lindamcandrew1229 I will have to report back...maybe I'll give it 6-8 weeks? It is certainly easy to use.
Checking back in after having used this for about 2 months. I do see an improvement in the following;
- the lines on my lips are smoother
- the color of my lips seems to be improving...my lips were very pale, they were not pink like when I was younger...that seems to be improving. They have more color now.
- the lines above my lips are looking softer...I got this device to address these.
I think this cost about $125 if I remember correctly...thus far it seems to be worth the price. It is simple to use...so, I will continue to use it. Hope this helps!
@@christiesachde3156 Thank you so much for the update, a rarity by many on TH-cam! Okay - back to reading your update - I just wanted to say "Thank You" before I forgot ~ ❤️🩹
What about doing facial exercises around the mouth? I have seen many videos doing them to reduce those lips lines and do them frequently but wondered your thoughts. It seems this would be a better option than anything topical. Thank you.
There's so many varying opinions out there - it's really hard to know which is the best way to proceed. Also, one thing can work differently for one person versus another ... 🫡! Good luck on your journey ~ ❤️🩹
Thanks for all the option ideas! Not one size fits all.
Doesn't vitamin c also help with collagen production? Oral and serums?
I realized that I was clenching my teeth while sleeping which caused migraines. This also had a bad impact on the area around my lips. I have incorporated relaxation in my face and jaw.
Thank you so much! I am 60 and I would like to add if I could go back in time, I would sleep on my back as a young woman. I feel like my lip lines are mostly that! I do Dysport and have an appointment in Jan. I really appreciate the added information. Wondering what you think about massaging around the mouth. My jaw is so tight. I do Hatha yoga on PBS and do a lot to stretch and relax. Also i do microcurrent and derma stamps. I have the same LED mask. Obsessed! Ha ha! I wish I lived near you!
@LisaDunahoe - Sounds like you are doing alot of great & informed choices for your face overall. Good for you 😊! I agree with sleeping on one's back - I have been trying that the past few years, at least when I get into bed and attempt to fall asleep - but invariably I end up on my side --- 🫡
Oh, do you know where Dr. Ellis has her practice? Thanks in advance ~ ❤️🩹
Thank you so much - this video is sooo informative❣️
I saw there’s a straw the is swirled but at the top it’s flat to help with premature lip lines. Would that be maybe an alternative for those who have the Stanley’s and thermos?
Thanks for the great video. What kind of serum can I use at night in the summer, also retinol?
Thank you Dr. Elis. This was very informative and look forward to more. Very helpful.
Don't smoke cigarettes and other things! I'm 25 and there are deep lines in my upper and lower lip. If i stop now maybe i can prevent it from spreading to my face
Thank you so much for this very informative video
Love your advice, Dr. Sam!
Help!! My mature skin is VERY dry. What moisturizer actually works?? I’ve tried several including various La Roche & cerave options.
I like Weleda baby Sensitive care face cream; It's very rich, I use it mainly at night and wake up nicely moisturized.
Really! I bought this lip product and haven't seen any change a
I love your lipstick color....what is it ? 😊
I have Botox place on my lip lines. It doesn’t last long but it makes me happy for two or three months.
Does aloe vera or Vitamin E provide protection from the sun?
Feels like I have been here the entire time since once I found your channel i had to go back and watch your older ones. I think its been 3 years. I am watching from San Diego California. I follow you on instagram already. Hope the doctors get you feeling better soon. Hugs and love and prayers to you💜
@sueellenb8353 - Hi Sue: Funny, I just today found Dr. Ellis's TH-cam channel AND I'm from San Diego too! Do you happen to know what part of the country Dr. Ellis practices? ❤️🩹
